  1. Unfortunately my home insurance does not cover jewelry, I have now modified my policy. Thank you all for the kind words. Though I know it is rather unlikely, I will keep my eye out for my watches on ebay/craigslist etc.
  2. Greetings RWG members,
I have been an avid member for some time now with an ever growing collection. I had a number of reps, but also some very nice gen's including my favorite - the Breitling Navitimer. Last night, my home was broken into and 8 watches were stolen. Amongst the list were a number of gens, including the breitling. Police report was made and a lets sent out to pawn shops etc.

 1. Breitling Navitimer Gen
 2. Movado black PVD gen
 3. Burberry Silver/black leather gen
 4. Calvin Klein watch with blk gen
 5. Rolex Milgauss Rep
6. Rolex GMT II pepsi rep
7. Hublot big bang gold rep
 8. Hublot big bang black rep

The breitling was the most valuable and the one I am most concerned about. I know several members here are interested in Gen's as well and search ebay/craigslist etc for good deals and just wanted to put this out there. I have some pics of my breitling with serial included.

Pics are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8hber5kpib4n8ph/AADcKEMJ5ZE4SSyuHkLscdkya
As the numbers are a bit difficult to make out from the pictures so I would say the following numbers are highly suspicious

If anyone locates this watch please PLEASE let me know. Items were taken from Long island, NY. Thanks so much in advance. Willing to give a cash reward to anyone who helps me locate my items. Thank you!
  3. Looks like good old soap + water did the trick to clean the stitching on the strap Now my only issue is the date wheel that doesn't function
  4. I just purchased a gen navitimer from ebay. I got a great deal on it and am excited that it finally arrived. I do have some issues with it however. 1. Authenticity - I made an appointment with a jeweler for next week to have the watch checked out for authenticity. With my mediocre knowledge of reps, I feel like this is a genuine navitimer, but I would still appreciate some reassurance. I have attached some pics and would love everyones opinion. Are there any specific details or areas of the watch I should look into to make sure its genuine? I do not have a case back opener. 2. The date wheel is not working. When the crown is pulled out halfway, the date wheel does not advance. All other functions are working including chronometer functions. It seems to me like the crown is slightly misaligned (looks to be a bit off axis when spinning). Is this a common issue? Is it a relatively easy fix or something that will cost hundreds? If it is a very expensive issue, I may consider returning the watch, 3. The leather band is worn, I would say it has 60% of its life left. The thing that is really bothering me is the stitching on the band. It turned into a yellowish/brown color. What is the best agent that I could use to clean/restore this leather band? Or is it past the stage of restoration? Thanks for any advice or input!
  5. So I contacted the seller and asked to take a look at the watch in person. His response is: Hi.....I never had to meet a prospective buyer and frown on it in this crazy world. Look at my feedbacks over the last ten years and Ebay . I also have sold to most countries during this time. I am a member of two Chapters of NAWCC. Therefore, do not take this personally but go by my record and photos. Best regards, Nick
  6. I have been longing for a Navitimer and and having trouble justifying spending $350+ on a flawed rep, then additional funds fixing the flawed date wheel etc. I found a gen on ebay, and it is located locally. I will likely go check it out in person. Before making the plunge, I'm hoping some more experienced members could take a look at the pics and attempt to verify authenticity: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121101124378 Also, is there anything specific I should look for when looking at the watch in person? Thanks for any help or advice.
  7. any news on upcoming navitimer reps? Im dying to have one!
  8. Hey everyone. I have been looking for a certian hermes buckle for a while now. I have already checked with Bergie and it is not available through him. I am interested in purchasing the idem style buckle Here is a pic: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.sgbagrental.com/img/bags10/Idem_buckle_13050582932.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sgbagrental.com/bagDetails.php?id%3D15412&h=366&w=550&sz=159&tbnid=xhprnYY_w8rpcM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=135&zoom=1&usg=__nKpowbsQeTFOj7ZCX5il85B_ndA=&docid=Mf6phWARkKVpzM&sa=X&ei=l1kYUc3NGI-o9gT434GYDA&ved=0CD4Q9QEwAQ&dur=2307 I found some for sale form unknown websites, but do not know how the quality will be. Does anyone know where I could purchase a good replica of this belt or even the buckle alone?
  9. beautiful. I would be very interested in a rep of this
  10. thank you all for the kind words. My father will be pleased to hear that his watch is desirable and worth momre than what he paid for it. It actually works out well, because he wants to sell it soon to help pay for a Daytona he has had his eyes on. I just ordered a tube of Polywatch and will give it a try before making any other purchases. Will this affect the scuff mark on the cyclops as well? From what I understand, this can only help polish up the crystal itself.
  11. Again, excuse my ignorance but I want to make sure this part will be compatible: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Crystal-Reference-25-116-116-NEW-CLARK-/251083135384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a75b89998 Also, where can I find a compatible gen crystal that is the same size? I didn't find one on ebay when typing in 25-116 acrylic crysta (aside from the Clark's). Im assuming the value of the watch will drop without a gen crystal.
  12. I had no idea this watch is over 40 years old. Im not very knowledgeable on rolex's just yet..but trying to learn. I know he purchased it off of www.portero.com a few years ago. I will try and polish the scratch out. So there is no way to remove the cyclop? In that case I will need to buy a new crystal
  13. Hello all. My father recently had a small accident while hiking. When he fell he also damaged his GMTII. The crystal has a small scratch over it, but the bulk of the damage is above the date. What are our options? Is it possible just to replace the piece above the date? Im not sure if this piece is detachable from the crystal. Or does the entire crystal need to be replaced? I'm not sure if the scratch off the crystal itself could be polished.
  14. Thanks for the reply guys. I really love the design of the Navitimer. What aspects of the watch will make it look bigger/smaller on my wrist? My thoughts are -Color - Im thinking a dark colored dial (black or blue) with a white slide rule as suggested by hansmeier -Band - Black leather band Perhaps, one along these lines: www.silix-prime.co/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=115_125_199&products_id=1724
