  1. Am I correct in assuming that this 3135 clone winds and sets in the same direction as gen, which from what I understand is opposite from all ETA movements? Unless you care about how it looks when opened up, that is the only real advantage I can see in using one. Although that alone is more than enough of a reason, as far as I'm concerned! oo1
  2. I don't know, are we talking about the TC V4 case that he used in his 16610 (which now seems to be sold out)? Can anyone substantiate these allegations, one way or the other? I love my TC sub, so now I'm really curious. oo1
  3. Really? The pics TC has posted on his blog seem to show the crown position as spot on to gen. What makes you say this? oo1
  4. Thanks mymanmatt! Finally a real answer to my question! oo1
  5. JMB, do you mean that you use the 2824 Explorer I from Angus specifically as a starting point for your builds? Or is there another 2824 case, and if so, from where? I notice that the pics you have look like vintage 1016s rather than 114270s. The crown position on the 2824 one you posted looks perfect to my untrained eye, do you agree? I was definitely concerned about the crown being too low on the 114270s with the 2836-2 and it looks like you have confirmed my suspicions. Is it fair to say that as a general proposition the 2836-2 will result in a lower stem position than a 2824-2 will? Or am I missing some other part of the equation? oo1
  6. I've been obsessed with trying to find the answer to this very same question. Anyone?
  7. Hello everyone. I just got my TC V3 yesterday, to replace the V2 on my TC Sub, and a few things jumped out at me right away. First, as mentioned elsewhere, the coronet on the clasp is a bit different, not sure if it is more "gen" like or not, as there seems to be some variation (as usual) among the pictures of gen clasps that I am able to find on the web. The stamping definitely seems a bit shallow on the bottom of the coronet. Also, the 2 lines engraved on the flip-lock are different, more narrow and less deep than the V2. Finally, the curled-up "lip" (for lack of a better word) on the clasp on the flip-lock end is slightly different, it seems higher. I'm not sure what to make of these differences. Any thoughts, anyone? As I said above, I've been searching the Internet for pictures of gen clasps and can't decide whether these differences matter one way or the other. There seems to so much variation, even some of the gen coronets appear more shallow towards the bottom. I'm toying with the idea of trying to use the outer part of the clasp (with the coronet stamping) and the flip-lock from the V2 on the V3, but haven't decided. As others have noted, aside from the above the overall quality of the V3 is definitely a step up from the V2. The 2mm spring bars wouldn't seat properly, but the problem was solved by using the 1.8mm. The SEL fit is excellent. oo1
