  1. gentlemen...ladies as you may gather from my avatar. tequlia is something i have an affinity for. i just returned from Antigua Guatemala...where among other things i visited a friend who opened a little cantina/tequila bar in that beautiful town. He is busying himself importing ....what is by far the best mezcal i have ever tasted. i went through 3 bottles in 4 days the anejo is truly amazing, sadly, we so depleted his megar stores all i could manage to bring home was a few bottles of reposado...still great though. a lot of tequlia and mezcal has passed through my liver over the years..... here is the best. this is the real deal. with my dsn 036 and a little friend from the past to keep it company.
  2. i am also looking for a datejust....but i'm a bit overwhelemed by the variety of the choices. id really like to put together a franken....guess i got some studying to do
  3. yep....you are right..i was looking at the past model. bummer...i like the crescent hand better now to decide....what dial to buy?
  4. you made a strap out of your grandfather? man....thats sick.
  5. this is a watch i have been wanting for a long time......but i'm not sure about the hands...i have seen omega day/date with a red cresent date hand...and the flight insturment style hand...but not with this one.....i have been looking for gen pix....but to no avail. any omega experts wanna chime in. also i have seen pix of the black model with a silver tach inset...this one has black ??? l1

  7. PHEW...good thing he had that daytona on his right wrist....that would be a tragedy. let this be a warning to those of you who wear alligator and croc straps with such abandon....they know....they know!
  8. my newest acquisition...fantasy,fake,fortis fleiger. dubious quality....but i love it on this old cuff strap.
  9. haha...i was looking for this info last night....couldnt find it anywhere.....good timing..forgive the pun
  10. hehe..i"m compensating for my fading eyesight
  11. here you go V...this one is for you.
  12. i think it says Military Type...not Military Time. though that makes even less sense. wtf is Military Type? it's actually the only thing i dont like about the watch is that stoopid Military Type text. as far as 24 hr markings go..... if you cant add 12 to the hours after noon in your head.....you prolly shouldnt be allowed to touch machine guns. i only like 24 hour dials if the watch has a true 24 hour movement. like the glycine airman..or some of those old hammies. man i want one of those. l1
  13. looks interesting....however...the hindenburg disaster did not kill the rigid airship....winds aloft did. huge slow moving craft are at the mercy of massive wind forces. the us navy lost at least two of its rigid airships to storms. how will this design fare? a fantastic idea however......reminds me of the curise ship in fifth element. i would love to see one in the sky. l1
  14. that sunset is a sexy watch...hammie has some great stuff now.
  15. Found this on wus. me want....me want bad.
  16. yeah......im kicking myself for passing up on some watch dial disks cut from an iron meteorite i saw on the bay. i forgot to bid...and ive never seen them again..this would look pretty cool with a meteorite dial i think. i wonder where i could get one silk screened?
  17. hi all. so....ive had a couple of vip mariners laying about. i just could not bring myself to wear them....guess i'm not a rolex guy..and they were pretty flawed. awhile ago i saw a seiko monster someone had bead blasted on a military watch forum ....it looked great...really tough. and since i have a sandblast cabinet..and these subs i'm never gonna wear....all that was missinng was a little free time and boredom. all the ingredients came together last night. here are the results. the sterile dial blasto mariner. i removed the rolex text from the dial with goo gone. did a pretty hack job of it....so im giong to search for a good sterile dial replacement. then i tore the watch down to case with crown and back installed (crystal removed), and bezel assy. i then covered the dial opening with gaffers tape (duct tape would do) and into the blast cabinet. i did not have any blasting bead media...so i just used al-ox. it is pretty aggressive so it only took about 30 seconds for the case..and 20 sec for the bezel. a little cleaning...and assembly and viola........ from this to this.... i have another of these watches...the LV model...i think ill get some less agressive media and give it a go with that one as well. what do you think? now i'm looking through all my watch boxes seeing what else i have that may get blasto. l1
  18. I have noticed that since i recieved my blue steelfish...with that great ar....i am constantaly wiping all the south florida sunblock and sweat off the crystal. man that ar really gets nasty looking. I realized, after a few nice watch comments that i probabally looked like i was trying to draw attention to the thing. and was a bit embarrased. i am starting to appreciate my single sided ar more and more. l1
