Here is my gen 1675....I recently bought a service dial so I can see it in the dark , but I am still searching for a set of luminova hands.....
-
This is my 5513. It is a MBK with a Clark t19 crystal. The crystal profile doesn't look like any other 5513 I've seen. I am thinking of changing out the crystal for one with a softer done, like a service crystal. What do you think ?

How are the ones from Cousins? Are those the German ones from eBay?
-
Hi all, I have a MBK/MBW 5513 (Polex) and currently use a Clark crystal ( t -19 ?)....anyway it is a rounded crystal, not domed like I've seen in gens. Other than a gen crystal , can anyone suggest another crystal that had a more tapered done , like gen? On eBay I see Clark's, a German brand and one from Wholesale?.... From experience , which one will give the slight dome of the Rolex?

looking for a rep case which fits a gen speedmaster dialp
sishac replied to whoever's topic in The Omega Area
How about one of the Alpha Speedmaster? They house an Asian 21jewel movement, but seem very similar. -
How about a Cartier tank...Classic women's watch, stainless steel and the gen is quartz to boot!!

I've got a Watcho SM300 no date and I love it!!!! Great wrist presence and an accurate movement even at 45 years old!!!!

In the vintage Rolex world reluming is a dirty word, so for my gen 1675 I went with a service dial which is gen Rolex, but super luminova. If my gen Speedy needed to be relumed, I think that I would do it.....I did it with my MBK 5513 and I couldn't be happier! Pm me and I will tell you who did it!!

stumped: loose 5513 cartel bezel (keeps popping off)
sishac replied to iwc3's topic in The Rolex Area
I'm petty sure that the bezel "clicks" onto the crystal retaining ring.... If it is too loose , maybe you need a whole new set. I replaced my list MBW/mbk combo with one from Clark's, and it worked great -
Sorry for the typos.....it was relumed by Pbdad to a nice creamy eggshell.....and of course the movement is a 7734, not 7735.
-
Let me try this again.... This is a DW case and dial that has been reclined by Pbdad....it has the correct 45 min totalizer in the 7735 too! The chrono hands are DW (brass unfortunately) reprinted by Pbdad....the main hands are Yuki,,,,,trimmed by PBdad too. Love the watch!!!!!

Advice on Vintage Seamaster 300 as teenager's first rep?
sishac replied to Pannyman04's topic in The Omega Area
I have one of the Watchco SM300, which I consider to be genuine non-vintage. It is one of my favorite watches (and my watch box includes gen Rolex GMT, Speedy Pro, Tudor Monte Carlo and MBW 5513). It has great wrist presence...looks good on a bracelet, anato or a simple black leather strap. The lime is amazing and it has one of the coolest bezels I've ever seen. Go for it, he will love it. -
Well, today I'm wearing a 1.7mm '67 or '68 1675.....

Just waiting for my Monte Carlo to come home!!!

Buon Pasqua!!! Where ate you in Italy?

I've use Rolex Addict in France before and he was simply brilliant....I would highly recommend him for a nice vintage Rolex rep.
-
Someone said it best....a rep is and will always be a rep. I have a few higher end reps and a few higher end gens. I'm in my 40s, and can financially pull off whatever watch I put on. I find myself staring at my wrist whether I'm wearing my MBK 5513 or gen 1675. It's a watch fascination. The one big thing is that the reps are for me....one day I will hopefully hand down a few nice gens to my daughter. The reps will probably eventually get parted out as they are not heirlooms like a gen. I still love them all, but I think you have to be smart enough to know the differences and the reality of your obsessions.

Well, after reading your post (and a few others I think), I contacted DW and bought a kit...the price went up a bit from when he had it on sale, but everything arrived after about a month. David was a pleasure to work with. I also have a 7032 with the 45 minute totalizer on its way, and I opted to pick up a set of Yuki hands. I was very surprised to see that the DW dial has lume on it.....I was also very surprised to see that the case takes gen spring bars!! I'm sort of on the fence about the lume job....ideally I would get it done in a vintagey vanilla color that would glow like a torch....but I'm not sure if I want to wait that long. Anyway, thank you for the photos of your beautiful watch...I'm looking forward to joining the club... Oh, and since you should always have a photo or 2...here are two of what DW sent me from China

Looking for a Rolex Sports Model with a good preserving of worth
sishac replied to ArkoN's topic in The Rolex Area
Personally with vintage Rolex I would stick to matte dial and plastic crystal. I happen to be a big fan of lume so I don't have a problem with a service dial & hands.....that throws a 5513 out of the mix as a service dial is glossy, not matte. You could do a 5512. Now with service dials that hurts the value, so if it is for investment remember original, or at least period correct. -
Beautiful watch!!! Did you buy the kit from DW, and did you buy it recently. I see he has them on eBay without the dials. Also , is this 39mm? Thanks and enjoy the watch!

LOVE IT!!!!!

I suddenly feel my wallet getting a bit thinner!!!! Great job, I can't wait to see them in production! Maybe a 1680 is in my future.....

My Watchco SM300 is one of my favorite watches....right next to my Speedy Pro and Rolex 1675 GMT. The watch as great wrist presence, a gently domed crystal and insane lume! Just looking at the bezel makes me smile! If you can find one, BUY IT!!!
