  1. As b16a2 ^ says! I have a gen one of these and have it on an aftermarket deployant strap (medium light chestnut with white contrast stitching). It does wear quite large.
  2. Congrats! Have to admit being a tiny bit jealous but at 3 large I was more comfortable buying from a trusted TZuk WIS or going retail. Mind you, a minter for 3k is still a v nice deal!
  3. Thanks GenRep but I'm across the pond in England and don't much fancy getting socked with customs duty, silly shipper's handling fees and Value Added Tax at 17.5%. A reasonably new/mint LV goes for between 2,700 to 3,000 Sterling over here, with the higher prices being the retail ones as you might expect. Unfortunately buying from within the EU is no longer a good option either as the pound has crashed against the Euro. However, I think I might just play it safe. The discussion here has been really helpful. I have a couple of other options and they will likely only put me a hundred or so over what I reckon the auction will end at. Don't fancy being burned and I can't afford to be... Thanks again guys!
  4. Doh, I hadn't spotted the match of serial number... Excellent. Thanks very much guys. Still riskier than using a good forum or retailer but may be still worth a punt... Eeeek!
  5. Greetings Folks, I wondered if any of you good people could take a look at an LV on the Bay and tell me if anything shouts out "rep" rather than "gen"?! I'm keen to make a bid on it, having test driven a Noob for a while. Sub LV Time is of the essence on this one and really appreciate whatever help you can give! Many thanks, Paul
  6. I on the other hand had a Tag diver chrono in the early 90's which I took diving (no idea what model it was). Damn thing was about as water resistant as a piece of blotting paper. Went back to be re-sealed twice before I gave up on it completely. I've sneered at T-H's ever since, which is probably most unjust. Excellent thread. Funny because I popped in today to look up this very subject...
  7. Yeah, I can also confirm (as with Toadtorrent) that the gen has a real croc not gator strap. They're nice but not brilliant. I narrowed my replacement search down to The Watch Boys on fleabay, the Genesis II at Walt's LonestarWatches site LonestarWatches and Sirtoli's dark honey gator Sirtoli. I now need to check into Krusty's Camille Fournet...
  8. Yeah, I just reported it too. Ebay seems to be useless at policing itself though. Unless they stand to lose out! Someone over on the IWC board also reported this guy. Frustrating that the seller remains a Powerseller with 99.whatever% positive rating... Thanks very much to you and all the rest of you folks for setting me right on this one! Cheers, Paul
  9. Hi Guys, Decided recently to take the plunge, re-mortgage my mother-in-law, and buy a gen Portuguese. I've stayed away from the otherwise lovely reps because of the potential for movt problems. So, I found a blue faced version in the US but am worried for two reasons. The first is that I had not heard of a blue faced version that wasn't a Laureus version (which has the detailed case back engraving; this only has the serial number on the caseback 2678159). The second is that the movt looks cheap and nasty. So I'm either looking at quite a rare and cool original or a rep... Any ideas? Edit: Looks like it's definitely a rep. The serial number is the same one used on reps and looking at that movt and comparing to a gen, there's no comparison...
  10. Excellent - thanks guys. I'll check 'em out and stick to my user name for TZ.
  11. Hope this question is OK to ask here; I trust lots of you guys and don't know the gen boards at all... I've got a gen Rolex 16234 which I want to sell or trade for a gen used sub 16610. I've found watchfinder.co.uk who have made a provisional offer but wondered if anyone had any pointers to good European based enthusiast sites where I might be able to buy/sell privately? Can't seem to find any by Googling. Btw, my recently arrived TKK Noob convinced me that I wanted to swap; lovely rep for such a low cost. Thanks! Khumzi
  12. So, after quite a wait (due in part to the non-arrival of Palp/Pam crowns), my TWP modded 111h came into my possession last week. It
  13. So, I got home and dug out the order confirmation. My bad. I ordered the wrong size (26). Did think about squishing (as one does) but Elliot, being a fine guy, and the strap being mint, I'm just gonna send the sucker back for one the right size. BTW, in case you didn't know, TC is having a Thanksgiving sale at the mo'... Thanks for helping me with a fairly daft thing and happy turkey day, if you're doing that thing. Khumz
  14. I likee. The thread seems almost blue to me (but not in an "in your face" kinda way) and IMHO would look quite good with jeans. Khumz
  15. I ordered a couple of lovely M-P straps a while ago from Time Connection and they've been sitting, somewhat impatiently, on a shelf awaiting my first PAM. I just received my TWP 111H (I hope to take some pics and post on it soon) and the Mario Paci Special Edition "Allora a Ora" in Senape fits beautifully and looks the biz. The MP XIII "3646" in Nero however seems too wide for the lugs (both bits). I thought that I ordered both the same size. Did I perhaps order incorrectly? Is the strap accidentally too large? Or should I just stop being a limey wimp and jam those suckers in there?! Really lovely straps, by the way. gracias, Khumz
