  1. looks fantastic! The dial is pretty close.. I have damaged original dial, and the only difference seemed to be the font on the T Swiss T on the bottom, otherwise all good.. surprisingly good! Pity it needs so much work.. kind of worrying actually. I've pm'd you.. am on a similar but paralell journey, with a HK case with bakelite bezel instead of the rotating bezel.. Case has some issues, including the crown tube! Why don't they just install a decent crown tube to begin with and save us a lot of trouble!!
  2. I'm looking to build a 1680.. I got a JK 1680 and 5513 some time back.. the 5513 case is ok, but hte 1680 the crystal and bezel pops off incredibly easily.. Not good for anything really.. not even a shower. Anyway, I'm looking for a decent case - with this Helenarou job work? How close is it to gen? Better than cartel ones? From the pics the CG's look like they need to be opened up, but that was the case for the cartel ones.. Also does she do custom engraving to change the model number from 5513 to 1680? And lastly, for anyone else that has used HR's case for a 1680 build, which crystal did you use (i mean which supplier). Thnaks!
  3. Can anyone comment on the reliability/quality of the latest batches of Y3135? This thread started in 2012 and the first versions seemed unimpressive with mediocre build quality and not clean, requiring an immediate strip-down and clean. How are the newer lot comparing?! Enquiring minds want to know.. :-)
  4. Thanks for the welcome. Now, can anyone suggest a good dealer for a Cosmograph old style (with rivet bracelet?). I'm looking for something with a manual movement, whcih I think went with the original Daytona. Doesn't have to be a perfect replica, but I do want a quality movement, as I'm looking for a good everyday working watch. If anyone has already got a decent one and posted pics, can you copy your post link below? Would save a bit of leg-work.. Tnx
  5. Hello all, I'm from Southern Africa and look set to enjoy this new "hobby" of watch collecting, bot gen and rep. Last time I bought a rep was on Canal street in NY about 20 years ago.. so I think I might need some coaching! See you all on the forums.
