  1. So guys, what is your opinion, Watcheden or Puretime?

I'm not too sure about these but $100 is very cheap. You are "buying a rolex" after all. I'd be tempted to save a few more $ and buy a noob version 2 from maybe torobravo2014 or a BP factory submariner from ttw888 (trusty time) for example. Both are trusted dealers

Just advice because it would be bad to be disappointed when your flashy new watch arrives in the post!

    Whatever you decide enjoy it

    Peace

  2. My father gave me a watch a number of years ago. Watch was given to him by an Arab Royal during the opening ceremonies of a new luxury hotel in Bahrain. Notice the crest on the back plate. He was the chief engineer on the construction for the hotel.

I have had the watch verified by Eterna and they sold these for 1,890 Swiss franks back when it was made in 1991 not that that is important to me as I won't be selling it. They have little info on the watch which suggests it was a limited run or quite rare.

My dad, being an engineer lost the box and the watch sat in a pot of screws and nails etc for many years before giving it to me hence the far from perfect finish!. :-/

Should I get it polished up when I have it serviced or does the ageing give it character?

Now for pics. I took these in 2010 and the watch is currently "misplaced" due to an imminent house move so I can't give any better ones.

  3. Some really great advice and tips on here. I think I'm going to stick with the reps and have a string of one night stands until I find the right girl for me :)

I'm not going to buy all at once either (although I've bought 6 reps this month) and find the 'sorted' examples on p2p as suggested from now

Thanks all for this great advice and input!!

  4. Or does he? Quite an interesting programme on last night in bbc 1. You may have to skip to the heavy guy with the hooded top to see it. Called Del Boys and dealers and looks at people buying and selling cheap goods from auctions. May not be viewable in certain parts of the world

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b044vkzz/del-boys-and-dealers-1-luvvly-jubbly

    Then 22 minutes

    Then 31 minutes

  5. I don't know much about watches and I know even less about Pams but I fell in love with this one for it's simplicity and elegance and its stunning movement. I hate the feeling of not having done any research. Did I make the right move here? The seller was a very great chap with a very large collection of pams and included two strap sets with the sale (I like the brown one on the watch although he says it's not great quality)

I'm not too fussed if there are 'tells' because they are not too common but I'm wondering why it hung about for so long and was reduced so much? He wouldn't ship to CONUS after a failed delivery so perhaps this was the reason?

    Any thoughts gents?

  6. Bro, all due respect, but seems to be an easy answer here.

No gen is worth what they are asking for.  Like Jkay said on another thread, the Rolex sub is a great $500 watch.  You are paying thousands extra for the name brand cache.

You can purchase many high-quality reps and even modded out out reps for the price of a gen sub or PO.

    JMHO, it's your money bro!

Congrats on the bonus too, btw!

I've bought one cartier santos 100 tonight and I'm about to pull the trigger on a Pam so your advice has been duly heeded buddy!reps all the way! If I buy smart I should be able to get back a good percent of my outlay and avoid over inflated prices like you say.

    Many thanks,

    Dusk :)

  7. I'm not willy waiving or being flash (I'm faaaar from flash!) but I've been given an unexpected bonus at work and having been a watch person since I was at junior school I'd like to put $8-$10k into 'me' things including watches (selfish I know)

I'm torn between buying a single gen or a bunch of rep pieces that I admire and having fun with them.

I have a bk sub ceramic and an LV on the way so I was thinking of a gmt 2 pepsi, Pam, ap diver and pumpkin LM seamaster. Maybe also super reps if they came up

Alternatively I would probably plump for a used seamaster pumpkin or submariner 50th anniversary.

Perhaps get the reps and see which suits me for 12 months then sell to fund a gen?

I currently can't decide so can anyone help that's been in the same boat?

  8. You know what? It's actually growing on me, at first I was unsure but now it looks good. I may keep it this way for the foreseeable future :)

Yeah on second thoughts I'm not too keen. Best thing to do would be to sell it to me and I'll keep it locked away so nobody has to see it. Just an idea to help you out :p

  9. Well...mine is the only I know :D

You have to buy the WM9 inlay from BK and a TC vintage inlay from TC.

Transplant (or let) the pearl and there you are :)

Sent from my wooden drums using Tupperware

Ouch! I can't even change the batts in my tv remote. I guess you will have to sell me yours. Bummer :(:p
