  1. It was in June 2004, six months from the start of the website that the original RWG added its forum. I remember jumping in and joining as member 100 as of ten years ago this month. Although implosion later happened to split into two different RWG websites to replace the original, glad to see all is still going strong and popular. Bless all and thanks for a lot of wonderful times, memories, to those I've interacted with here from time to time. Happy watch hunting.
  2. There you guys go again, dredging up buried secrets from the past! That just reminded me, here is Jetmid's updated Facebook profile pic as of March 17th. Still in Kansas city, now in the graphic car wrapping business..........ho, hum.............the Legend is far more entertaining than his reality, the dude's now 34. My how time flies, can't believe its been 10 years since he graced our presence with "I sell jets, this is "my" Patek, I'm sure someone can beat that?",
  3. So defrosting the toes I see...................BTW, I've never really left, always checking in from time to time.
  4. Well, you already made me a lifetime platinum member way back in the day so donation made instead. All the best guys. Aloha from Maui. - Omni
  5. Wow, that is a shameful mod on such a classic, the owner should be shot. On the same topic of appreciation of the brand, check out the collection of the Swiss buyer who I just recently sold my Porsche America Roadster to. Makes my eyes water (he has a 956 in the back of the middle row too!).
  6. Reviving dead threads is like Viagra, it feels good if the subject is always beautiful no matter how old it gets (like fine wine and a fine woman). Hiya Puggy. Ken, you took another trip around the sun? Belated Happy Birthday big guy! I just had my 64th last month (So don't feel too bad! My wife will still "feeds me, she still needs me"). Only Offshore (Alan), JeffG and DLGates (Dave) is older than me, I believe of the old crowd. JeffG said that he visited Dave up in Portland,Oregon for a few days on Dave's dime in May, even though Dave is suffering from infirmities of decrepitude, it was constant Jazz clubs & smokes. If I'm still drinking (only one) triple vodka martini still made by my (whatawaytago!), there is still hope for us "old-timers" you young whippersnapper you! Age will automatically lead you down the path to your body's own level of natural moderation/pain whether you want to or not, so don't sweat it. Remember when life was "only" just a pain in the ass!
  7. People are mistaking the Razor House (linked) as the Iron Man house. You don't need to build one like it, it already exists, only $20M, down from $39M. Pull out your checkbook now for that bargain!
  8. Point Dume, Malibu, California. (CG model superimposed in shot for the Iron Man 2 movie), good one!
  9. I find this subject interesting, the sand does look whiter on the other side of the fence. I've been in Toronto many times as my 2nd ex-wife was from there (Great city, to visit). She lives here permanently having raised our son joint-custody. I was born in NYC and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Been on Maui for 33 years and not leaving. I spent 9 years in and about ski resorts prior. On Maui, after the activity of youth has waned, the beach is there but I rarely go now except for walks, you appreciate the beach but its not the only thing and after decades one can get jaded about anything others take as luxuries. But island life in Hawaii is expensive if you want more than subsistence living, so I spend five days a week in an office. On the weekends, like anywhere else in the world in warmer climes, it can be paradise because of the tropical weather. Island life is slow paced, the people extremely gracious & friendly. When we vacation, we usually travel to cities for just the opposite of what you are thinking to get away from that hectic pace.(No constant city white noise background). Newer transplants get island fever, bored with the one season weather, struggle to make a living and leave after a few years. If you can make it for five, you usually stay.
  10. I got past any perceived fear after 2 divorces, 24 years an' going on 3rd. (No more divorces, just shootings from here on) I call it peaceful wisdom.
  11. Then per Jkay's reasoning, go rent a gen. dress watch. But, he and stormtrooper4 did give some good suggestions if you insist on going the "bad juju" rep. route for your wedding, to impress who? I just think it will come back to bite you down the road as something you might think is so small as an issue of minor symbolism, "fake from the very beginning." You might think your bride is okay with it (you're supposedly being smart & thrifty from the start) and at the time she might think "nah, no big deal." Every effort should be made to make the big day perfect since the imperfections of life will magnify over time as the relationship matures, every little imperfection becomes symbolic. Just my philosophy honed over 3 different marriages in almost 4 decades. So if you do make it to geezerhood together, which do you want to pull out and wear on an anniversary to reminisce, this is the watch I wore on our wedding day? By the way, forgot to add, congratulations!
  12. Its your wedding! Get a gen. and forget the rep., that's just not a good omen to start a marriage with IMHO. If you insist it must be a "name" then comb eBay or vintage dealers for a vintage watch. You'd be surprised what thin dress watches you can find at very decent affordable prices, from the 1940's on up, usually around 34mm - 36mm cases. Just make sure its been serviced. As an example, I picked this up off of eBay a few years back for $500, a classic circa 1950s pink gold Girard Perregaux dress watch with beautiful casing. Just do some searching.
  13. Another "Downfall" parody but customized for the repforums.
  14. Yeah, can't help myself sometimes, looks like most of the repliers got her persona right though! Edit: Actually lantis knew who it was but was just playing along, I however as said "can't help myself".
  15. Lee Grace E. Dougherty, 29. Stripper, now bank robber. They just caught her and her brother & half-brother this morning. LINK TO NEWS.
  16. He admitted his mistake today at RWG1.1, he posted it when he was a noob back in October, as I said out of innocent enthusiasm. He has removed the YT Video.
  17. It was not good form referencing the replica forum site, but the enthusiasm of the video just points out some obvious points why to buy a rep. instead of a gen. Don't get your panties in a fankle (TTK's old familiar saying)! The guy is a member of both RWG1.1 and here, the YT post is already old from Oct.26, 2010, a member on RWG1.1 just noticed and somehow the news just filtered to this forum only today since a lot of members are also members on both forums if not all rep.forums. The fact is, the dealer mentioned in the video, is not a trusted dealer on this forum but is only on RWG1.1. Several forum members asked him to remove all reference links to RWG1.1, (not this website rwgforum) in the YT comments which was done in the last 12 hours. Since his identity was posted at RWG1.1, and the admin is on the warpath, he'll get the hint to remove the video altogether. Good luck.
  18. Extremely healthy for 64, just worried about and working hard at economic survival like everyone else. My, how fortunes can turn on a time. That's why getting a smile once in a while is important in a busy day.
  19. A Canadian photography company took 6 months to set this up for some smart marketing for themselves. They solicited quite a few product placement sponsors for it. This is also shown on their company website and has gone viral since July 10th, 2011, I can see why, amazing!
  20. Yes, Blair's Ultra Death Sauce is rated at a lower 800,000 Scoville Units. Here's the latest hot sauce ratings scale: http://ushotstuff.com/hotSauceHeatScale.htm
  21. Right you are M. I look back and realize I was young at the the time I thought I was so old.
