Really nice threat - certainly worth a nomination. One question with regard to the watches were more expensiver ETA versions are also offered (eg, Yachtmaster, SMP, UPO). Are the dials of these watches comparable in detail and quality with the more expensive version? Do they come from the same factory? And is the difference then the crystal and movement? Or are these watches generally done with lower quality components? I am asking because I am not happy with my SMP dial (missing 3 o clock marker) and I am also looking for a Speedmaster with domed crystal (although not sure whether any version still has this)

I have a simiar problem with two of my A7750 28800 watches. With one I opened the case and twisted the hands into the right position. I know this is probably the rough way and is probably not recommended. However it looks fine now and I just dont use the chrono of this watch. The other one is more bothering. Apparently the 30 seconds 3 o clock hand was fine but after the first chrono run it reset to -3. Did do a couple of chrono runs in the hope it would cure itself but instead resetting then resulte in around -6!! I left the chrono on over night until it powered off - and resetted then - its now at -11!!! Really annoying - very bad behaviour!! Now if this doesnt change - what is the best way: opening the case, getting the movement out is fine, I have the tools - but what then?? Pulling the hand back to 0 or removing the hand and putting it on again. The latter one seems to be the softer more proper approach but I think the risk that I damahe the dial is probably higher then the risk of ruining the movement when twisting the hand back to 0. Anyway with this behaviou I will certainly not use the chrono of this watch anyway. By the way - is this someting which happens commonly? I presume its a wise thing to newer use the chrono anyway with either A7750 or ST19?

It seems that nobody in the forum has yet replaced the most annoying flaw in the new speedmaster moonwatches: the flat/slightly domed sapphire crystal for a domed (plastic) crystal as the original has. My understanding is that Ofrei.com is offering all kind of sizes and shapes for plastic crystals. It should be possible to order the right one which fits, but.... Crystal replacement is like any science, profession, art or trade of any kind it takes time to learn along with real effort and money to invest in materials and education. Has anyone experience with replacing crystals in general and can advice how to select the right crystal? There are probably easy rules how to select the size but how to find the right shape and style ???? If they manage to replicate this then that would become a tremendous success - thats a given... a7750 is probably not a good idea due to the seconds at 6 issue... Unitas 6497 modified - that would be fantastic-probably the best solution

Given the prices at ofrei.com for the original hands I wuld just go ahead and give it a try. I am personally more worried about the crystal and would like to swak the sapphire for a doomed acryl, hesalite or mineral crystal. There are however millions of sizes and shapes at ofrei and I have no idea how to determine which crystal could fit. Any suggestions?

I have checked OFrei and found the dial. $150 isnt worth the exercise in my eyes though. Also seen a sapphire dooemed moon watch crystal for roughly $400 - not reasonable either. On OFrei there are a number of acryl crystals for order but I really cant figure out which one I would need. Has anybody done this and can advice?

Hi there, a number of people have changes the Omega Speedmaster Professional (non-chrono) blue dial through an original. Who knows where to get an original dial from? EBay hasnt offered one in the last weeks... The other thing I like to find is an original doomed hesalite crystal for the Speedy Moonwatch. Any idea where I can get that from? What would be the exact specifics for the ST19 based replica?

Guys - this is great support - I will read the links carefully but honestly I doubt that I will actuall start unscrewing the movement. I might damage in the end more than is broken at the moment...should have done a watchmakers course...

no - tried now 30 times..the wired thing is that the watch is runningnwhen the crown id removed...

It is really locked, yes. When I shake the watcg then it starts running, both chronograph and sweeping seconds - it stops again if I pull out or wind the crown..

Happy New Year to everybody! I had a crystal exchanged in my A7750 (28800) Navitimer and have just fitted in again the movement into the case. I have now the problem that when I lock in the crown into the movement I can only set the date but not the time in all 3 positions of the crown (in,middle and out). Have released and relocked the crown now endless times and its always the same issue: only the date moves, I can not wind the watch or set the time. Sometimes the seconds and cronograph work other times not. Any thoughts were the problem could be? Thanks Munsterh

Hi there, I have browsed around and looked but I am not sure whether there is good advice available online how to best strip the AR coating from sapphire crystals. I have tried chieftangs method but was not successfull. I have heard armor eche could be a possibility but am not sure whether it would riun my crystal. If anybody has some suggestions let me know. munsterh
