  1. Still here...  but damn. This place is almost dead. A real pity. Don’t know why. I spend most of my time lurking at RepGeek under a different name. Sold most of my reps and still do a a lot of watch restaurations and other watch work. Mainly gens. Father of 2 beautiful daughters (4&7) which grow up way too fast. Working for the ‘man’ still sucks and hoping I can make a living out of watches somehow in the future. A man can dream....

    All the best B)

  2. Hi Guys,

I know I haven’t posted much last couple of month. Busy with family and work. Still into watches and reps but on a slower pace and smaller scale. I still build some really good Frankens from time to time for family, friends, co-workers etc. Most of the time they keep them and enjoy them but over time I also lose sight of some people and the watches I build. They get sold, traded in and change hands.

Recently I saw some of my work popping up on legitimate sites. Respectable sellers and jewellers are selling some my watches via Chrono24 and other platforms as genuine with ditto pricing. I feel somehow responsible for that even though I have nothing to do with the misrepresentation.

    What do you guys think?

Guessing gen on the right M?

Gen is on the left (and top) unfortunately. Finish is much rougher on the rep. Look at the Cote De Geneve  and filling of the letters 'Breitling'. But it is damn hard to see. Even more if you don't know what you are looking for.

Looks to me if any watch keeps accurate time, it could not be a 'fake' watch because a 'fake' watch would have to always show the wrong time.   :pimp:

Question...if you take a genuine rolex 16610 and stamp 'Dickwatch' on the dial...is it still a genuine rolex, or is it just another Dickwatch?

Exactly. Are Tempus, Blaken and Artisan de Geneve fake Rolexes?.....

  6. Great write up. The reason reversing wheels are stiff is not because the pivots and/or clicks are dry or gummed up. It is because there is too much debree or oil between the brass plates and clicks. The clearance between them is nihil. So even the wrong cleaning solution that will leave the tiniest amount of settlement can make the turning of the brass plates feel 'stiff'. Also solutions that will make the brass react can have the same effect. That's why ETA recommends replacement. They are too finicky to service for most watchmakers.

PS: I usually throw them a couple of minutes in some naphtha and afterwards put the tiniest amount of 9010 on the ETA spots. Usually does the trick. A proper oiler and technique is essential of course. Sometimes it doesn't work and I don't mess around. I than just replace the f#ckers.
