  1. LOL! I didn't even see that. It's like the disappearing Duchess of Windsor mole flying past her. You know me, anything to make my homies happy.
  2. I only just mentioned Ajoesmith in another thread, when I remembered that Tech is no where to be seen these days! In fact, if it weren't for Hike, Bruce, Vlydog, and a few others, we'd have precious few of those jiggly jugs/female form avatars these days. Since I can't use this (it's just too weird for a girl), maybe one of you lads might enjoy it.
  3. LOL! "On the job" has a very different connotation in the UK. I believe Rima's girlfriend (also a physician) wears a beautiful DJ. It's functional, but smart at the same time. Also, I've found patients tend to judge their doctor's via their watches, and clothes -- if they're not in pain, obviously -- so Rolexes work well. As for me, when I had a job-job, I wore very simple watches. NO ROLEXES the first year. That's just tacky for an up-and-coming person in a firm, etc. But hey, wear what you want!
  4. You should've heard me when I was installing the PAM bracelet! One literally gets sweat pouring down one's brow with certain brands. I think Narikaa had a special tool which helped with these kind of changes, but equally, it could've been for link removal. But perhaps he might know of an implement to help you out. Good luck!
  5. I'm a sucker for super soft straps, and that's why I don't mind the thin MF straps. THANKS BRUCE! I have the plain Bordeau (not Vintage Bordeau, unless it's the same) and I know what you mean. It's not stiff, so much as tough leather. Glossier than the others, at least mine is. Gorgeous colour though. I am right there with you. Sometimes when I'm typing a post, I stop, smell my wrist, and hope no one saw me.
  6. OMG. This review is like ice cream, and the IWC Spitfire Chrono is pistachio dripping on your tongue! What a magnus opus. One of the best I've seen, and certainly one of the most complete in all my time here (redolent of SD4000's Heritage review or Andreww's Breitling guides). Needless-to-say, I'm still pouring over it, and I especially love the photographs, but I wanted to say congrats, Toady!! (That Dluddy has this watch goes a long way with me. That boy is just classy)
  7. Good God! The Thais must cringe when they see you coming. And the ladies flock to you.
  8. Was that you?! Lindsay Lohan's knockers must've distracted me. Ooh, ooh. What is your specific opinion of the vintage green? I am curious, since I often see it on the Risti Acc. Corner. Yeah, me too. I must've lucked out because all her straps, used and directly from her, are flawless to my eyes. I HAVE seen what others are saying though, so I know that exists. I totally agree. Any one of her straps takes a rep PAM to the next level.
  9. I've met him, and he is what might be called a cold duck. Very disagreeable person, one on one. Not to mention, his professionalism has been called into question. I guess he's going for the Rigoberta Menchu category.
  10. I agree with what Vric said. It's overall not an eye-popping design, but I fancy that has something to do with us being so well-connected to all watches. For a person on this street, this is probably just the right combination of bling and fashion. I notice that the LV Tambour I have, has the same bracelet links. Maybe they reuse parts for different marques in repland? I'd say go for it!
  11. Too true. He's got 98 something percent, so people have called him or her out on it, though. Clicking on his feedback, I noticed he just received two negatives from someone who bought this precise strap above! They said quite plainly it's fake.
  12. The "B" (even blurry as it is) is a dead giveaway. I agree. EDIT: OH! Cell2get? I got this Panerai strap in white rubber. 160231593685 Awful, awful quality and not cheap either. I'd stay away from this vendor...
  13. GORGEOUS! Congrats, V. Perhaps not for me, since I don't do Ammo straps, but I am in love with this leather. Was it Savage who said her hides are good? They surely are, and moreover, she has a very good selection of them, perhaps the best of the Big Three of of Italian Panerai strapmakers (Paci, MF, and herself). @Slai: One of the few straps I long for, but cannot afford, is her T-Rex.
  14. Hmm, interesting. This sounds like you're a short fella, Narikaa? I'm short, for example. Just as men who buy flash cars are notoriously are thought to be compensating for other "shortcomings", I wonder if this psyche, which I could share in terms of height, explains why I like accessories like watches. And the shinier, bigger, and more "expensive" the better, else I'd wear a plastic Timex.
  15. Ahem, sorry to threadjack, but whatever happened to Ajoesmith? He was supposed to be bringing back some nice Seikos from his recent trip to Japan. Was looking forward to that!
  16. True. I have to say, that a lot of people shop at chain jewelry stores like Jared or Mayor's. Whenever I go there, those places are packed, so the experience is very different than being buzzed into a TOTALLY empty jeweler's, where you have the run of the shop if you want. No wonder they're snooty. Hmm, good point! I hadn't thought of that. BTW, no offence to anyone here who is a jeweler, but when others are citing people they don't trust, and naming lawyers, used car salesmen, car mechanics, etc. I am thinking "jewelers". I follow them around with my pieces like a hawk.
  17. Muff Divers are not all they're cracked up to be.
  18. What a dope. Tangentially, I've heard some guys express a similar disdain for people who wear Bentley-Breitlings, saying if you don't have a Bentley, it looks pretentious. What tosh. It's a watch like any other. They're supposed to tell the time, and if you like it, buy it. Basta! P.S.: The results of the poll once you've voted will floor you. But they shouldn't really.
  19. I was hoping Sssurfer would've replied, but perhaps now he will, Radiohead. I believe he admires the good don too.
  20. I guess it would be elegant of me to say, after so many intelligent people have said "I don't recognise a lot of the names", something like, "Hey guys, me too!". But I am tired of lowering myself just to look cool. Jkerouac, I recognise more than 80% of those names, and I don't feel bad. I know what you mean. BUT, see, this is what puts most people off! Being intellectual, or wanting to be smart, or whatever you want to call it, is not mutually exclusive to popular fare. In fact, that's why I could never live in France. Intellectuals hate sport and television there, thinking it's something for dumb people. I couldn't disagree more! There ain't nothing wrong with that. Gosh. *kicks pebbles* Thanks!
  21. I got that treatment from so-called "Anglo" Americans. Hooboy, very nasty. But I found two others. A young Jewish chap, and an older Cuban guy. I've broached the topic of opening up their business to our hobby for locals, but astonishingly for me, both said they didn't need it. Really, I don't get it. Whenever I enter their jewelry boutiques, they're dead empty. Sorry guys. P.S.: Glad you found one in TO! I'll PM a chum of mine, who was going to use the yellow pages.
  22. There's more flaming in this thread than a Village People reunion.
  23. This TWP's Wristie from December. He got the Graham from Narikaa, apparently. Seeing how TWP seems to be AWOL, I thought to post it on his behalf... P.S.: Anyone heard from him? I'm getting worried.
  24. Agreed. But I'm getting a vibe that Asad has been scammed, rather than he's scamming anyone, though. Listen peeps, you have to be seriously delusional to post a fake knowingly on 'Risti. Unfortunately, as he reads this, his heart must be in his mouth. If you guys are right, he's dropped a wad on a fake. What makes it worse is that some heartless gen owner probably thinks it serves us all right too... @Fishy: Hehe. Unfortunately, I think I missed that thread. Let me research! @Fishy, followup: Wow. Okay, well that's suspect now, Asad. You have some 'splainin' to do...
