  1. I'm really shocked you would pay USD185 for a carbon strap for the APRO, and from HK too! Even with the endlinks and screwdriver. But I tell you -- you can't argue with ease and quality. I see both here. Very nice, Bosk! Is this the site? http://www.oraclestrap.com/FAQ.htm
  2. Paul?????? Me too, actually. Corgi was kind enough to share where he bought his TT blue Sub -- a gorgeous piece. It'll be my mum's 3rd purchase with Jos Nana. In short, dun be a Pug.
  3. Cheeky! Starting off your Wristcheck career with a gen. But a nice gen! @Takashi: Smokey shot. Very cool.
  4. Lucky dog. I bought another standalone DVD-R today. I wish I had the money right now to get HDTV and Blu-Ray! I felt exactly the same way. One of the few other times I felt like that, was watching "Metropolitan" by Whit Stillman. NEXT UP: Bella & Beowoulf.
  5. Nova Scotia's own could play spoiler, actually. I mean, Audrey Hepburn won for her first real leading role...why not! Of all the main Oscar nominated films, I haven't seen these yet: There Will Be Blood The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Into the Wild Elizabeth: The Golden Age (I know, V, I know!) The Savages I'm Not There The Golden Compass I've seen all these: Michael Clayton Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street In the Valley of Elah Eastern Promises No Country for Old Men Charlie Wilson's War Away From Her Juno American Gangster Atonement Gone Baby Gone Persepolis (Best "film" of 2007, IMHO -- it's an animated film) Ratatouille Surf's Up The Diving Bell and the Butterfly Across the Universe La Vie en Rose How about you? We have 10 days to go... http://www.oscar.com/nominees/
  6. You are right! However, I didn't see Napoleon Dynamite. I absolutely loathed and thought LMS was overrated. Only Garden State, of the ones you mentioned, did I forget -- cruelly. I have a very snobby film critic friend who trashed Garden State. But I thought it was one of the great coming-of-age films, with moreover, a kicka$s soundtrack. Two films along these lines, in 2007 (a great year for indies) -- not to be missed! & @DemonSlayer: I "see" you reading the thread right now. Just wanted to say thanks, and OMG! about that Miami Vice response you gave. I actually saved it for future reference!
  7. Like pohboys, they're still around. Philly has some great "hero(e)s".
  8. Heh. Zing COULD be construed as an onomatopeia, but it's not -- that's like "splash", the sound which comes from the act of entering the water (in English). A zing is a combination of un piropo, un chiste y and the act of being very listo con respuestas. I think it was Sssurfer that said that he never heard any quote from Oscar Wilde, que no era un zing. Thus, the rating of "zing" can be seen as you considering the person's post that way. Hope that others agree, and that it clarified it for you.
  9. That's a brilliant idea! Thanks for the info (I don't know the answer to your question, but I would try at 1 AM EST. That's when he answers my emails). Like TTK's Skype, then DSN's blog, now Jay has some chat method, it seems the collectors are trying to make communication easier. Good stuff.
  10. Juno is a delight. Every year recently, American cinema's been cranking out a gem of an indie film that somehow breaks the glass ceiling. Junebug. The Squid and the Whale. Half-Nelson. Now Juno. Great stuff.
  11. Kelster, if you haven't already don't forget to see "Hotel Chevalier", a short film that is a prequel to The Darjeeling Limited. Wes Anderson allowed it to be downloaded free, online. I enjoy Anderson's vision, and style. Not too sure I like his films overall though.
  12. Looks like the St. Exupery. Only not as nice. And the name -- Father and Son? Sounds like it should've been a DH Lawrence edition. Clearly, the best of these new watches. Titanium gives it a stealth look. Guys, I know from the replies this is popular with you, but this is AWFUL. Yes, better than the B&R, I agree, but it ruins the elegance of the Big Pilot... Rabat? For the King of Morocco, no doubt. The gold on black is garish enough. This cannot BE a Tourneau caseback. It doesn't have a snobby attitude when I come in. My favourite. Which isn't saying much.
  13. Well, the good news is that it matches. @Scoobs: He's a good-looking guy! But where's your Fiero?? @Jsmith11: Have fun golfing with your cow. @Corgi: Lovely shots. IMHO, the best so far!
  14. WEDNESDAY DSN 232 on the new OEM Brown Matte Gator, and OEM PAM buckle, dining with me on Lincoln Road. Looks great! If I could only wear it... THURSDAY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, everyone! Awwww. That's the Klarlund peek-a-boo watch seen rubbing the tummy of Winnie the Pooh. And Pooh gets his own Wristie too, of course! A Victorinox Swiss Army chrono. (Thanks to HikeUSA for the inspiration!)
  15. Oh crikey. My first thought is about your conversion, but let's not get into that. Are you sitting down? I am actually packing up your (7) straps to send to you, AT LONG LAST. I'll pop them in the post tomorrow. There's gotta be at least one that goes with that robin's egg blue pair of jeans! Since you're not a child, with no need for many surprises, let me just say it's the Toscana Carbon Fibre for your Fiddy (sold out/in fact, won't be offered with the buckle anymore). EDIT: It's brand new, TeeJay. 4 straps brand new, 3 never used, but "mounted" on a watch. You're not getting sloppy seconds! I KNOW you don't like black straps -- it's the only one. But this you will love with your jeans, or my name isn't Ethel P. MacGillicuddy!
  16. I understand where you're coming from, but if he had those watches back, he could've made $269 on some other customer, hence my reasoning. Let's not forget that our forum is only a tiny amount of their business. How many times do they lose watches from others? Even if there is a huge markup, that's still money lost. Kudos to our collectors here who replace watches. I wouldn't like that one bit. @Verbal: Do you forgive me if I tell you your message is too explicit? "They" might be reading...
  17. Lee "Scratch" Perry's Panic in Babylon & Joy Division's Heart and Soul (Can't wait to watch the DVD of "Control", the film about Ian Curtis)
  18. That was just to stick it to her children and grandchildren. Hateful person. When I die, even if my kids hate my guts, I'll leave them every penny. My cats can screw themselves. (And I don't even have cats!) @Jot: Are you serious? That's sick. May she be on some rotisserie spit in Hell right now. And not just for that. But for all the "little people" like the maids and workers in her hotels, she used to abuse. Money has never given anyone class. :hitler:
  19. LMAO! If you read the photo title, it's funnier -- REDNECK TIMEOUT. This is not funny, because it's true. You know how Russian "walruses" go out swimming in the wintry Neva river? Well, some mums dip their kids too. @Mjmurphy: I cannot write "LOL!!" enough...
  20. I'm going skiing in March. I'm already dreaming of the Wristchecks... @TT: Nice photo.
  21. Worked for Wesley Snipes! Actually, it didn't. He was acquitted of committing tax fraud, but still faces up to 3 years in gaol for other counts. His less famous co-defendants are all going to the Big House. Leona Helmsley, a famous American billionaire who owned the Empire State Bldg, etc., was also sent to prison by Rudy Giuliani for tax evasion. Some countries like to make famous people examples. Wonder how Sophia Loren coped in prison... From 2003 to 2006, this country's economy was JUMPING. US unemployment rate is the lowest in 40 years. In Saudi, it's 25% amongst males... There is a sub-prime mortgage "crisis" and the real estate market is in the dumps. People are not spending money as much as in the early 2000s. In short, it's like every end-of-decade in the US.
  22. There's no pleasing you lad! $5 is not even
  23. Lederjacke, I am SO sorry for your troubles. I don't want to seem a scold, at all, I feel for you, but it is not Joshua's fault to inform you of these troubles with delivery. That's why you are a member here in the forum. You have to inform yourself first. The fact is that EU countries have these problems. If you lived in North America, you would have much less, maybe none. This statement isn't for your benefit, since you know, but for some newbie reading this. A parallel story: Andrew sent me 2 watches (priced $269 each). We think the packing slip slipped out, because the Miami Beach PO was unable to deliver to the address. They sent it back the same hour they received it. It arrived at a third country, where Andrew has a forwarder (details not given to protect the modus operandi). But that country's Postal system lost the package. Andrew literally LOST $538 out of his own pocket, because he resent the watches to me. Is that fair either? No. I mean, these guys lose money too through no fault of his own. But his customer service guarantee to me has always been 100%. Anyway, as you can see, it varies from collector to collector. Once you get one who you trust, stick to him. Good luck next time!
  24. Wow! It's certainly a looker. It looks like either a rubber band ball, or something Scoobs' black cat might cough up. Actually, you know what Narikaa? I like it.
  25. This was my favourite:
