  1. Is this the same watch as Trevor's ? http://www.watcheden.com/rolex-sea-dweller-deepsea-with-asia-eta-2836-movement-1-1-ultimate-version-i-28030-p-1.html
  2. IMHO they don't " tool up " for anything. Do you think they painstakingly cast an intricate guilloche dial and machine a case to perfection etc. to sell a watch for a measly $129 ( which is what the original Asian Fish, same cosmetically as the Swiss except for AR [ yes the crystal is sapphire ] went for ) for an extremely limited clientel... us ? Grow up. These Super Reps are imperfect parts smuggled out at midnight and assembled in homes. Nothing else makes sense. The spare Fish parts have all been used up. Either you got one or you didn't and everyone had plenty of time, years, to get one. Or else they perversely broke down the presses etc. for probably the best and most popular rep ever because...?
  3. Get the Ingy. I must have 15 reps so far ( in a year ) and this is my favorite by far. True, it is on the heavy side but you can lighten it slightly if you pitch the anti-mag cover inside the watch. I got mine from Ruby for $280 with Paypal and EMS. It took forever to get here, a month, but she QC's each watch and it got stuck at JFK for 5 days. One negative : It's something of a scratch magnet but it's really a beautiful watch and it will provide a lot of pleasure looking at the fascinating dial. Oh, yeah, take the bracelet links apart and go over the brushed edges with fine sandpaper and car polish. Then it'll be super.
  4. I give the guy his propers for walking right into the Lion's Den. Maybe he just got " religion." His conscience is bothering him. Maybe he sees a parallel in some way with " Jandrewgate. " Maybe he's wacky about reps like we are. He shouldn't have been banned. This banning is NOT classy. Information, especially bona fide information from the horse's mouth is valuable. I posted elsewhere here tonight that I saw a lousy faded fake gold rep on my MD's wrist and then a fabulous TT Summer Blue Rolex yesterday. Beautiful, impressive watch, heavy with gold, totally genuine looking. The MD is into reps. I am sure I read here or elsewhere, months ago, that the Summer Blue Rollie is a fantasy watch or possibly released in a limited edition in Japan. True or not true, WIS's ? If it is a fantasy watch, then there ARE much better Rolex reps out there. I want to know what this guy has to say. He's willing to send / show off one of his watches. Why not take him up on it ? My 2 centavos.
  5. Agreed. Asking if a watch is gen seems like the worst manners, especially if the thing is a blatant fake. Who am I to spoil somebody's fun ? I wear some great reps to work and I've only been complimented twice. One was my Beginmariner and I told the guy it was a fake. The other was my white SOSF. I said, " Thanks. It's a Breitling." I felt kind of bad about doing that. I recently had a couple appointments with an MD. The first time he had the cheeziest of faded gold plated Navitimers on. I said " Nice Breitling !" Last time I saw him he had on a breathtakingly beautiful TT Rolex with the blue dial. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is a fantasy watch or else it was made for a limited Japanese market. Either it was gen or it was one of the top of the line triple plated jobs that TTK was selling at one time. At any rate, it was an intimidating watch.
  6. Ditto By-Tor. Someone looking for a rep is looking for a Rolex. I've been reading these forums for a year and I myself have only recently discovered IWC. My own take on this is : Josh and Andrew saying that they buy the originals and make a deal with the " maker " to reproduce it is pure BS. I have long been gone from the machine-tool industry and it has been long gone from the US, but there are a lot more stages in making a watch than blythely setting up a CNC machine. Some articles involving bas-relief must be cast. Some are drop-forged, such as watch heads. Plastic parts are injection molded. All of these parts are engineered first then drawn in blueprint. A computer will NOT make a perfect copy of a part. It will produce a low end rep. It is my very strong FEELING, I can not prove this, that our high end reps are STOLEN ORIGINALS in one way or another due to outsourcing to China where because of lack of proper supervision they go astray, that is, out the back door. It would be lunacy to set up a factory to reproduce, say an Ingenieur for a paltrey $300. Think about it. How many people are combing the net for a phony Ingenieur ? Why are the simple Rolex so frustratingly inaccurate ? Because they are still made in Switzerland.
  7. Looks French to me. Phonetically, that would be : " ahn-zhih- neeur " ( roll that last 'R.' )
  8. I don't think we should discount ourselves so easily. After all, just who are buying all of these reps ? The Chinese themselves ? Maybe so, but they would not be paying the high prices that we do. I certainly see no reps in the New England states, so they're not being sold here. And BTW, I would not put past them any "examples ' of banning. That would put the fear of G*d into the chickenshits who are terrified they won't be able to get their toys. I don't blame them. I feel the same way. This is what the forums are for....knowlege. We should face the facts, painful tho' they may be. Talking amongst ourselves here is a real asset. Not to be discounted. l
  9. I like it. It's cool and calm and easy to look at. I spend hours here. I'm also glad to see the whiny little brat baby logo gone. Sure, I support what you do and would like to make a monetary contribution to the forum, but there are a small handful of these forums and I can't contribute to them all. Some guys here have money to burn.... Trips to exotic vacation spots, famous names to meet, and several of the very best and rarest of watches. More power to them. But some of us live week to week, hoping we'll have jobs the next. I do NOT appreciate being harangued by them to contribute. That being said, some of us can contribute by writing in a respectful and interesting way and encouraging the articles of our fellow collectors.
  10. I got the Asian from Ruby. They're using the same pix for the Eta and the Asian. I can't say, but my own watch is gorgeous with a high quality of finish. There is zero AR on the Asian, but the crystal itself is slightly domed and clean and sharp to look at. I can't say if it's saphire. Maybe yes, maybe no. I don't care. The watch is not that big. It's heavy and tall but the crystal is about the size of a Sub. Point is ( esp. with the white dial which, really, shows off the dial ) Ar is not necessary for such a small crystal. This is not the Navitimer which looks ridiculous w/o AR. Save your money. Get the Asian.
  11. By-Tor just shows us that watch to make us drool. It's cruel.
  12. Just got mine from her, white dial, perfect. You will flip out ! I really feel sorry for the guys that got the darker dials. lol
  13. Breitling Chronometre Automatic....I have not ween this rep before. Stunning ! Very exciting to have a contributor from Moscow. Your English is excellent.
  14. I thought he represented Breitling in some way. He seemed disheartened about how good the rep was. Actually, he did a good job selling the rep as there wasn't much bad he could say about it. Round headed screws in the bracelet ! Bad, bad ! Was he B-S-ing about the Asian movement ? 'cause the watch seemed to have AR. Agree, By-Tor would have given a far better review. And any publicity about reps is bad publicity, but I think the stronger danger is the decreasing value of the dollar vs. the Yuan. In other words, buy now. Thanks, BWL for your detective work.
  15. lcdr 2007, I'm in the same boat as you are. Love the watches but have few spare coins to buy them. $ 300 a pop is just too rich for me. And the guys who pay this are inflating the prices. More power to them. That said, I think the dollar vs. Huan thing is sure to escalate against us big time, soon. My advice is to buy watches now before they are unaffordable, tho' I doubt we'll see any profit from them lest you're a good salesman. Can't put a price on sheer amusement tho',... just passing the time. My bargains ? Jos's Beginmariner at $108 shipped. And just today ordered, Ruby's SFSO $ 165 with alternate leather strap shipped.
