It doesn't bother me at all, but I used to work with a guy named Ty who would abbreviate 'Ty' to 'T.', and that always had me shaking my head. Afterall, it's same number of keystrokes!!!!

You probably want to press it in with more than your fingers. You're not going to get the compression ring seated properly that way.

I agree. Single AR on the gens is subtle and definitely not ***BLUE*** (in your face). You're better off, IMO, with no AR than rep single AR on PAMs.

That was my thought as well, but this watch is for sale by a fairly prolific Paneristi for $12500 and is in 99%+ condition. He says it is the original PVD.

OK, I've looked at the gen GMT now... It's an exterior coat on the magnifier for sure. In my opinion, this looks a little odd with the crystal around it uncoated, but it definitely does eliminate the bad reflections you get with the large Rolex dome. As far as the AR goes, it is applied at 600-700 degrees F in a vacuum chamber via physical vapor deposition (PVD). The way to coat the magnifier is to remove it and reattach it, as lanikai is doing.

Well two things: (1) Apparently only the cyclops is coated on the gen, not the entire crystal. So it needs to be coated alone. (2) Glue (i.e. crystal cement) melts at the temps in the AR chamber. The risk is pretty low. Just talk to the PAM folks about how many times they've swapped around magnifiers.

It will go on the outside of the cyclops. The cyclops will be coated on the domed side, and uncoated on the flat side. This AR doesn't "rub off". -Chief

Welcome! You've come to the right place. Where abouts in Cali are you? There are quite a few of us from both the Orange County / LA area and the Bay Area.

This is indeed a fairly rare piece, and I'd hold out for one with box and papers myself. The differential you'll be paying now could be significantly larger in the future. And down the road, when the value is much higher, it'd probably be that much harder to sell a piece without papers.

My thoughts on fuel economy: I want more. I test drove a Mini Cooper S the other day and loved that little thing! It's quick and corners on rails. I felt like I could make a U-turn at 90 MPH in it! It seems like a great commuter car while being very fun at the same time. The '09 S model is said to get 37 MPG as well. What do you guys think of the Mini Cooper?

Well divers watches, such as Gen Rolexes, with bezel inserts have no glue. Do you need glue? And if so, is there any reason GS Hypo couldn't be used?
