  1. No way is this beauty going to the Alaskan Modder from hell! We need a firm undertaking it will return in the same condition it arrives
  2. Funny, that name is coming up on another thread as a really great TD. I already had my Irish GTG, I was 100% there, so a great turn out. We should do more GTGs
  3. Hello, welcome back, it’s good to know there are other members in Ireland
  4. I haven’t worn this watch in at least a year, my 5508 is Daddy’s favourite and the others don’t get too much of a look in. I picked it up this morning and I’m quite enjoying the change
  5. This watch has covered a lot of miles already, but strictly speaking it hasn’t actually started to be passed around yet. MOAB arranged getting it from China, so it had to stop off in NY. It couldn’t safely go US to Germany, so it bounced around a little, but it hasn’t been out of Mods hands yet. Could be great for you guys to give it the Official Launch at the GTG, lots of wristies, lots of beer and laughter.
  6. Yes, photobucket isn’t a good option any more, but you can upload them directly
  7. Yep, been to all those as well. The Sloop, St. Ives is I think early 1300’s, so must have been quite new when I was a lad. We got dragged around all the great houses too. Trerice, Lanhydrock, Trelissick
  8. Indeed, we could use you all going on a recruitment drive. All the watch forums are down on traffic, rep and genuine. Part of it is seasonal, part is the economy - few people seem to have much hobby money right now, but also smart ‘phones and smart watches are no doubt a factor too.
  9. I’ve just discovered it is Thanksgiving in Canada. I know we have a few brothers that way, so Happy Thanksgiving to anyone celebrating today
  10. I was looking at those two, thinking what a fine perky pair they are, then I put my reading glasses on and realised it was a statue?
  11. That has got to be the best lume shot in the history of RWG. Your pictures are bringing back lots of childhood memories. A much younger sogeha stood in everyone of those places. I doubt there is a town in Cornwall I haven't visited
  12. Or perhaps that with the vintage stuff they no longer want to notice. RSC themselves replaced lots of original parts with service parts back in the day, then dealers were well known to buy a bunch of watches and dissemble them all and put the best bits in one watch, second choice in the second and so on. My guess is that very few vintage Rolex are all original and Rolex doesn't want to rock the boat and damage the market. Either way it's the ultimate accolade for your build to be able to slide it past them.
  13. You ain't seen nothing until you've seen one for real. They are better than even Bart's pictures
  14. Thanks @freddy333 That's a nice gen BTW. I definitely need a dial and hands, the lume dot is in completely the wrong place on the Phong hands and the minute is a touch too short. Dial from MQ, hands from Micheal Young and movement and crown from the R factory, and im done.
  15. I'm thinking about a Christmas present for my long term favourite. For a Phong 5508 are there any better options than this? http://vintagewatchesmq.com/minhquy/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=872&category_id=146&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
  16. Thanks Thor, I didn't realise that. I thought people here had put 7753 movements into reps that came with A7750 with sub dials at 3,6,9 I seem to remember @panerai153 selling something a year ago that I thought he had done that to. I could be wrong, it's been known to happen
  17. Agreed it is lovely and I would like to see it. A Swiss 7753 is expensive, is there a Chinese one? It could be produced with an A7750, which would make it easy for us to put a 7753 in later. I guess the rep market is driven my Chinese domestic demand and perhaps this watch isn't well enough known or respected there to bother with.
  18. Seductive the dark side is resist you must true to your calling you must be vintage Submariner a Jedi wears Talking of things a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. @Legend's watch looks like CP30's head, in a good way. Now if it was gold and had smart capabilities....
  19. I don't know guys, I'm a retro gearhead and a geek, so I'm pulled both directions at once. I love mechanical watches, always have, but I'm also drawn to high tech and love the idea of tracking sleep and exercise. I kind of wonder about the two wrists, two watches route, but what I would really like is something even more discreet than a watch for all that tech stuff, because I'm never giving up on my mechanical watches. Hell I still use a sundial every day!
  20. I would hazard a guess that it is a Brietling Aerospace
  21. Hard to say, but generally mall watch battery replacement type places aren't really bothered or interested. High end places can be. You could always resize it yourself, it's not hard to do
  22. Honestly it depends what you want out of the watch. The Chinese 2836 is a pretty decent movement with parts availability and can therefore be repaired and serviced indefinitely. It can also at some stage be swapped out for a Swiss ETA 2836 if that appeals. The 2813 has a lower beat rate than the gen and the 2836, it can suffer from a noisy rotor and sometimes a second hand stutter, on the other hand it as cheap as chips to buy a replacement movement if it is ever needed. I have watches with both movements, you pays your money and takes your choice
  23. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/10/02/top-cbs-lawyer-no-sympathy-for-vegas-vics-probably-republicans.html Nice lady! One would imagine a lawyer would understand the implications of making such a crass and ill timed comment.
