  1. As per title... is this an (Athaya) 702 tube? Gen 702 crown screws down smooth and tight on this but when I try same crown on my existing Athaya 702 tube on my watch it doesn't screw down? I thought gen crown worked with Athaya tube... have I got that wrong? Or is my tube in the watch not Athaya? Was hoping not to have to change tube out to switch to gen crown
  2. I like it when the sound of the movement resonates through a pillow to my ear... It reminds me that the most wonderful thing about the watch is the tiny mechanical wonder beating away that we hardly ever see. Also its the easiest way to check the time without having an LED display spoil the darkness. So yes...
  3. Following this with interest... That dial... well I reckon that's looking sweet! Love the case work so far too. Looking after this old thing for you... just waiting on a Gen crown for it
  4. Just trying the BB form factor for size...with this 'Courgette' ;-)
  5. Happy thanksgiving my US brothers... wish I could be there... memories of pumpkin pie mmmmmmmmmmyeah ;-)
  6. My sources on SCWF say yes, this is William's site [now bookmarked]
  7. wjean28 [William] is great to deal with. It does look like he has nothing listed right now but he may just be taking a break. If you are looking for a quality mesh for 007 [chunky one] then you won't be disappointed by a Strapcode one. Pricier than some but a range of different finishes and clasps, and in my experience excellent customer service.
  8. Big Dazza 6538 mod again today...
  9. Big Dazza 6538 just landed punctured my finger sizing rivet b@st@rd bracelet, but then enjoyed a few minutes with abrasive pad and jewellers hammer roughing it up even more! Great value for a fantasy vintage build.
  10. Now you just showing off...! ;-) Nice strap too
  11. Thought these might have taken longer to appear but I guess not such a big leap from existing models. Looks fine... wish i had not started out on a BBB homage project now
  12. Saw this last night and it blew my mind..and I've discovered another model... great when you learn about these more uncommon models. They really lend themselves to rep/frank'in... they are fantasy builds for most of us I guess. This is a peach - congrats:)
  13. Lovely... I could see myself going for a gen crown too! Does that mean you have one on the way?
  14. ^ hey no worries... I used a Seagull. ST2130 which is a 2824-2 clone. So Yuki's ETA hands fitted without any adjustment. I sourced this one from eBay for convenience but Cousins UK has them and I'm sure there are many sources worldwide. Price I can't recall - I think about a third of the price of cheapest ETA that I could find (new).
  15. Cheers JZ and thanks for the pointers when I was planning my project. The spring bars I got from Justin as an extra with the case. They are fat phat and fabulous... and an essential detail for me ! So far no funky business from me on this project although I might take issue with the dial and hands to age and better match them ;-) and although it seems a shame I will probably abuse the case a little too !!
  16. Made the necessary adjustments to the bracelet today. End links from Justin were perfect...
  17. Cheers brother Cheers J... It was such a nice build to put together and looks and feels great on the wrist. Keep doing your amazing work with these cases.
  18. Cheers guys... the case is amazing... I would love another to do that custom homage build
  19. I was introduced to this forum after hunting down the best possible explorer case for a homage project. But I quickly became stuck between a rock and a hard place as I couldn't find an economical dial printer to have my custom dial produced. So having contacting JMB here I ended up going rep on the dial and having the superb JMB v2 1016 case as the heart of this build. The rest of the build list is pretty balanced for cost/availability/quality. It went together very nicely - no dramas! So here is the full spec: JMB v2 1016 case (not aged, but engraved) Gen spec spring bars Acrylic crystal Yuki 1016 dial Yuki hands ST2130 movement Currently on Choicecuts Horween leather Pics:
  20. Thanks, I'll search that out... assume a whole lot easier and cheaper to buy a gen tube than the crown part.
  21. Quick question... if you want to change to a gen crown do you have to change the tube to gen, or is it recommended? My example from an Athaya to Gen...
  22. Thanks guys... going to give the seagul a chance but may well swap for a swiss ETA 2824 at some point. We'll see...
