  1. I have one of Watchinger's Panerai caseback spanners, which is aluminium (or aluminum if you're in the US) and it is precision made, like a piece of jewellery in itself. Highly recommended at 60$ shipped.
  2. I have had an order for ETA 7750 black day & date wheels with Cousins for 3 - 4 weeks now (for my SS & Ti GSTs) so I know that the black wheels are not currently in stock. This should cure the misaligned day on the GST. Most movements are shipped with white wheels so these should be more readily available where they have been swopped later, although I bought 2 new movements on ebay without any wheels.
  3. It would suit me better to go with EL. Is this OK?
  4. The movements for both the date and non-date were used in a wide variety of contemporary Omega watches, including other Seamaster variations. The only way to confirm the provenance of a vintage Seamaster 300 is to contact Omega, quoting the movement number and they can provide the original case number and country of import. This will establish whether this movement was originally fitted to a SM300 or other style of watch and which distribution network it was supplied to…..particularly relevant if the watch is purporting to be a British Royal Navy issue, or whatever. I have a mint ‘vintage’ 300 (date), built by Watchco from NOS parts and it’s a keeper for sure. If anyone is interested in a modern version of this watch, with an ETA movement, check out Timefactors.co.uk. Eddie Platt’s Precista is a recreation of this watch with the correct bezel and bezel insert, manufactured in Germany by ‘Fricker’ who also manufactured Timefactor’s Dreadnought. The build quality is impeccable and a NOS case / bezel etc were used as a pattern for the Precista model.
  5. Hi V. That just looks superb .............good enough to get me off my ass and get mine sorted. I'm lookng forward to seeing your other 'project'.
  6. The one on the right has the incorrect, brushed case and the incorrect serif font. The wrong font would drive me nuts. In my opinion the 029 is the most acurate GMT rep, but most prople don't recognise this, due to the reference pics on the Paneristi site showing the A series, T dial watch, while the rep is of the L dial, B series. The genuine dial layouts are not the same...........FYI there is a post on the Paneristi Forum now, where a member has discussed this topic.
  7. I have to admit that I didn't really understand the big attraction of the Daytona, until now.
  8. Mark (Finepics) is correct that this is a rep of the 5218/201A dial insofar as the LUMINOR PANERAI are together below the 12 and only the logo is on the bottom half of the dial. However, Golfman is also correct in that the 5218/201A did not have L SWISS L, or anything else at the base of the dial - simple explanation is that these watches were made in Italy, not Switzerland. The numbers are the more recent shape (see ‘2’) rather than the pre-Vendome. This rep was marketed as a 000 a couple of years ago but the dial has the wrong layout and neither the 5218/201A nor 000 were available in PVD. The dial is a fantasy and anything remotely resembling this should be in a SS case not black.
  9. Check this link and compare the difference in thickness between the crowns of the PreA 1 and PreA 2, which were produced in the same series of the same year. Also compare the crowns of the two Ti's, the PAM 036 and the 040 which were of the same era. If this variation existed in reps of the same batches we would be moaning about QC lack of detail. http://www.network54.com/Forum/265104/thre...scans+of+Pams...
  10. The brush tool is for refinishing brushed Ti, similar to the Ti Panerai models. I presume that you're referring to the IWC GST Ti, which has a beadblasted finish. I expect the only way of satisfactorily refinishing one of these cases is to re-blast it. IWW can do this, as can anyone offering DLC finishes as it is the first step in the DLC process, where a polished SS case is used. Try Finepics (UK), Palpatine (EU) or Jack @ IWW (USA).
  11. I will need an extra link as the standard watch, if it's the same as the GST, will be a tad tight - one link should do the trick. Thanks to anyone who can help out here.
  12. Sorry if I sound grumpy but these endless 'me too!' posts are just grating a little.
  13. Repaustria had a 036 brown dial for sale a short time ago. Check with him.
  14. I refuse to buy a display back Pam rep with an "upgraded" movement that doesn't look anything like a gen.
  15. If the same watch that EL sells can be sourced for $200 - $225 then count me in for sure.
  16. Let us know how you progress with this project. I have 3 genuine Tudor dials; one the same as yours, a black dial and a blue dial. I need a project base watch too so I will be watching closely.
  17. If you are concerned about accuracy, or are likely to become obsessed about it, then I suggest that you get a 001 instead. It has a correct solid caseback and correct pattern crownguard, for that 'B' series. Also you can replace the crownguard with a OEM quality item from Jimmy Fu, fix the cannon pinion, relume and get one of Palpatine's crowns to perfect your rep when the real anal obsession kicks in. In contrast, the H series, with the display back will always display the rep movement and there is no good rep H series crownguard available.
  18. Apart from the PAM40, which had a 'T' dial the only non-sandwich dial Ti Luminor Marina with a solid caseback was the PAM61. However it had a brown dial which wasn't that obvious in many photos.
  19. I have both the SS and Ti versions with the black dial and while they are similar they are very different in character. The SS watch has a brushed bracelet with polished mid links and also has silver hands and hour markers. As a result it is more dressy and not as easy to read in certain lights, particularly the sub-dials. The black SS is simply a dressy rather than a sporty chrono. I also have a genuine dial for my Ti which I will get fitted together with a swiss 7750 movement. Next, I am considering fitting the rep dial from the Ti into the SS and getting the whole SS watch PVD coated and luming all the hands white and painting the main chrono seconds red similar to my genuine Orfina Porsche Design chronogaph. I think that that would be a killer watch.
  20. The 005 appeared in the 'G' series Panerai and the last T dials had been the earlier A series. It should be L SWISS L.
  21. Excellent choice...........and it looks realy well on a perforated strap, similar to the earlier Heuer chronos too. Wear it in good health. I have just gone down the same route as you ........... considered the total spend on reps and other lesser genuine watches and started to off-load some to finance a few choice pieces. I've also bought a Moonwatch and a genuine Panerai 005. Needless to say there are still some to sell to fill the hole created in the finances. However some of the special modded and Franken pieces will be kept. There has been too much time and effort invested to dispose of them.
  22. The IWC GSTs are now discontinued so act quickly if you want to get one. These are one of the most accurate and best quality reps. The bracelet is really top quality and better than many genuine watches. I have both a SS and Ti version and they are both 'keepers'.
  23. I don't know if this site has been brought to the members attention before but, if not, some may find it interesting. Some excellent photos and references of Tudor subs. http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:3lu-M...t=clnk&cd=1
