  1. Looks great. I have a gen Moonwatch and that looks really good.

BTW, what movement is in the reps that are available now? I have picked up an old Tissot chrono that has a Lemania 873 movement ( same as the Omega base) so I am assuming that a gen dial and hands will fit the movement. Obviously dumping the whole lot into a rep case is occupying my thoughts at the moment so this mod is very timely.

    You will be busy.

  2. The SOSF was claimed to be waterproof to about half of the gen's depth rating if I remember correctly. I have one of the first Swiss versions and my first impression was that the case was particularly well made. However, the caseback on mine could be unscrewed using only my fingers so it certainly wouldn't have been WP on arrival. I probably would have unscrewed the back anyway, just out of curiosity, but after I retightened it I have used the watch in pools and the sea without any issue. The SOSF seems to be a good candidate but check the obvious things first.

  3. Lovely watch - enjoy.

I have a genuine Moonwatch and love it. However, I picked up an old Tissot chrono the other day for very humble money. Nice enough in itself and running like a dream, but when I took the back off - Happy Days - it's a Lemania the same as the Omega 1861. Now I'm thinking about getting a gen 'Moon to Mars' Moonwatch dial and hands and gen movement holder and seeing if it can be dropped into a rep case.

  4. what do you mean by old stock? would this be considered old stock http://www.jpc8118.com/omse10002-seamaster...8242-p-892.html? Thanks

Those pics on the PC website look like the older version but I doubt if that's what you will get. The arrows on the bracelet suggest pins not screws, the bezel pearl looks like the older (better) version, the CGs look like the older version (not accurate) etc.

I have one of these 'old stock' SMPs and, while not too accurate, it is an extremely well built piece that simply feels like a gen, bracelet included. I have a 'Bond' chrono and I have gathered up the bits to complete a gen-movement-powered franken to compliment my gen 2254.50 so maybe I will sell the old stock Bond SMP some day.

  5. ... and I missed an auction on a Gen dial 2nite :( So I need to find a dial while the watch is still apart... *sigh*

Was that a gen dial that I bought at $61 - sorry about that?

I have a gen Omega 7750 movement that I bought, simply described as a Swiss 7750 - happy days. I intend to buy a complete set of gen hands from Cousins and pop the lot into my rep. It's already on a genuine Omega blue shark strap with a gen Omega deployant so these bits should give me a nice franken.

  6. Hmm, interesting. I think there's someone not far from me in the UK that does bead blasting. Not sure he's much of a rep person though, mainly does vintage Seiko customs

    MN, perhaps?

BTW, I think that I have a spare DSN Ti case complete with his CG which has the lever in the centre so should be reversible to suit a Destro. As far as I can remember it has a solid Ti caseback too.

  7. Anyone have an opinion if the following box is OEM or REP? Would really like some feedback to settle this dispute.

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/gen-Panerai-box-...;hl=panerai+box

The box itself looks OK to me. I have two genuine Panerai with all the papers and stuff, plus a third box that I bought on 'Risti from a very prominent UK member. All three boxes vary very slightly in colour and the 'black' outers also are different shades of grey. However, I don't doubt that they are all genuine. The hinges and hardware are exactly the same in all three. My third box now has a genuine warranty booklet and a blank card that came with my 111 which was supplied new from the AD with 2 booklets and cards - obviously a mistake as one set was between the insert and the wrap-around black felt thingy.

From the photos I don't see anything that would lead me to knock the box as being a fake.

  8. For me it is the historic handwind models that are the soul of Panerai. I don't like the sandwich dial, other than in the Fiddy, so I would go for the 111 or 112, either E, F or G series. Same movement style in these three series, with the PANERAIPANERAI engraving. The E & F are basically the same but the G has the larger crownguard. It's the only series with the older style 'painted' dial, nicer movement and the larger CG, so has a slight edge on exclusivity.

Each to their own, but the auto models with a cyclops, date window and the secs in the wrong place just look all wrong IMO.

  9. Thanks D & all...mainly the crisp bold dial text and satin finish on the tuxedo stripes.....still the hour markers should be closer into the centre of the dial and I haven't seen a version with this corrected ?

Hi Simon, lovely watch - same spec as mine. BTW, the position of the hour markers is 100% correct for the B series 'L' dial watches. The 'T' and 'L' dials were different in that respect, because the T version was laid out within a much tighter circle. I have good pics of a gen 029B if you wish.

  10. I have just sold my genuine B&R 03-94 (the chrono) and I want to buy a B&R rep to replace it. If I go for the 02 it will be an ETA version, but I'm not sure about the 03. I seem to remember a post where someone referred to a difficulty with the ETA version of the non-chrono 01 or 03 - the post wasn't tall enough for the hands to sit properly or something like that. I really liked the gen 03 and the rep appears to be an accurate replication. However there doesn't seem to be much in terms of reviews on the forum.

I have seen only good reports on the 02-92 but I wonder if anyone could share their experience of the 03-92 please. Photos and reliability reports etc appreciated.

  11. Evening PAM fans!

Thanks for all the kind comments and feedback ....much appreciated.

Dial text a tad thinner and an aged ivory tint to the lume colour is the aim.

I'll keep you posted on progress

Simon, that is just sooo good - this is just 'bang on the money'. I NEED a 201A.

  12. there is a UK based dealer that only can sell/ ship in the UK that has the ss and pvd straps in rubber and canvas. I wanted a canvas strap, but I would need a uk connection to send it to me in conus. someday...

I'm in the UK and have dealt with a 'local' AD (not too local to me but at least in the UK) regarding my gen B&R03-94. I got a genuine strap from them without any problem but they knew that I owned a genuine 03 so that may have helped.

I have just sold my gen 03 and now want to buy a rep 02-92 (SS numeral version), with an ETA movement. I don't really care is it's an ETA clone as I have a genuine Swiss 2824, which I assume will be a straight swap. How many different versions of this model are available - are they all the same from all sources, or is there a difference?

  13. Gen lume is blue. Rep is green. Biggest tell. If you are I'm the UK you can getna get strap very easy. Fixes the buckle. I love mine. It's on it's way to being perfect right now. Good luck with yours.

Have you a source for a genuine strap? Can anyone confirm if the genuine strap fits OK?
