  1. It is a 217 CG. The question is why. Replacement mistake when sent for servicing, jury rigged franken? What you know is the 217 came several years after the 127 so it wasn't a mistake at original assembly. This happened years after. That crown guard didn't exist when the watch was originally sold.

  2. smile.png I don't know. When I read the gen and IWC forums, the 7 day is much more popular than the Portuguese Chrono. I suspect because they prefer an in house movement and versatility in looks over what the chrono has to offer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

The standard 3714 (or whichever model is the standard Portuguese Chrono) has actually been very popular for 20 years or so. It is just old. It is the IWC watch of choice as I have noticed in the EU over a number of years. More Chairman and CEO's seem to wear that than anything else from IWC. Frankly, it seems to be more popular than the Pilot series over there. At this point the issue is how many additional sales can be made after 100 different editions. The 7 day Portuguese was invented to charge more and sell more.

  3. I haven't seen tha latest Jumbo ( assuming that is the 38mm size). Still have an MBW with the dotted line blue dial and an ETA with gold rotor. Case is fairly good (I do have a similarly sized two tone gen) but the date placement is off and of course the movement is the movement......not an AP. It is a much smaller watch though. I wear the Offshore for daily wear and the automatic royal oaks only get worn for formal or "cuff link" occasions. It is a much smaller watch...elegant but frankly no real presence other than the general form. My 2 cents.
