  1. Very interesting thread.

It seems that we're always looking for the best available, I guess that's just human nature. Especially since some of the reps have come so close to being perfect - and yet, not quite there.

I myself am now intrigued with watchmaker9's offerings, the few people who have acquired them say they are in a league of their own. Another legend in the making - like MBW?

  2. What Randy said.

I was going to try a local watchsmith to service an asian Daytona and after some thought I decided that I'd rather wait for The Zigmeister to come back in September than try to explain to my watchmaker about all the potential problems sevicing a rep.

I tried that once with another rep and my watchsmith thought I was over-exaggerating. I politely left his shop without leaving the rep to service. Too risky.

  3. A long time ago George (the real MBW dealer) had a photo website that contained the words "watches-photogallery" I don't rememeber the rest.

This watchmaker 9 is not the same George who sells MBW.

MBW George would NEVER refer to his watches as Grade A+++, he is a very cool and low key type of guy.

  4. I've thought about taking my asian 7750 Daytona in to a local watchmaker who seemed willing to work on reps.

After some thought and hesitation, I decided it would not be a good idea, for the exact reasons The Zigmeister states.

I was afraid things might go wrong and the watchmaker would run into problems that he couln't handle.

  5. I didn't care for the dial of the GMT very much - up until now. That is one gorgeous watch, especially Neils blue dial.

But, with such a complicated movement, I wonder how stable the movement will be? Every time they try to copy a movement with compications, there are problems.

  6. I'm going through the same thing right now - I want a Pam with some addtional functions and I've agonized between the GMT and the Power Reserve.

I know I'll get slammed for this bigtime but the GMT dial is just too busy for me - too many tiny markers around the periphery of the dial, the dial design is too fussy for a Pam. I don't care for the GMT with the 24 hr markers on the bezel, but that dial is not as busy.

I am getting the power reserve with the indicator at 4 o'clock. I think the dial layout is very nicely balanced with the seconds at 9 and the PR indicator at 4.
