  1. Hi all, just joined the forum in the last few days, bought a replica Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 22015100 from a friend of a friend and it sparked my interest to see what was out there. I then came across this site as I was googling replicas and I have to say I'm blown away at the knowledge and skill shown by people on this here. I've included some pics of the replica as I have no idea of the origin or what movement is in it (no markings on the movement). Probably paid too much for it but as a newbie it was an impulse buy and well probably not much more can be said about it. My watch box currently has a gen Tag Carrera Twin Time Calibre 7 WV2115-0, a Seiko SKX007, a Raymond Weil 4817 and an Accurist something or other in addition to this PO. So here are a few shots of my PO, interested to hear opinions one way or the other and if anyone can identify the movement that would be great. Not expecting a great response to this watch to be honest so go for it I've got pretty thick skin
  2. Hi all, So I have a LMPO on the way, my first rep. I've heard they are a nightmare to take links out for fitting the bracelet and I don't fancy giving it a crack.. Will a jeweller in town be able to do this without the problems other people are having? Many thanks in advance
  3. Hello everyone. I have just started getting into reps. This whole world is very interesting! I love that you guys are all here for each other. Since I am new I have only been able to look around for a little bit, but still feel lost. there are a lot of things to look for when looking for a good rep. With that said I am having a hard time finding a rep for this Omega AQUA TERRA 150 M OMEGA CO-AXIAL ANNUAL CALENDAR 43 MM I really like it cause I like that way watches around the 43mm-45mm look, and look on me. is there anyone out there that can help guide me in the right direction I have looked at pureti.me and they have one I think but it is the smaller version (the one that is only the date and not the calender/date) and also trusty time, but they don't have it. Those are the only two sites I have found that people say or trust worthy. is there other places to be looking? I tried doing a search for this watch on here, but didn't find anything. Thank you all for your help in advance and thanks for helping a noob to this world. sorry I am new and can't post a pick or link yet. Cheers
  4. Hi all, i'm new and have taken the time to browse the forums. After much research I ordered an Omega LMPO from Noob through Puretime yesterday. The website is now down, is there any way to contact them to check up on my order? I have had no confirmation or anything although the money has been taken off the credit card. Thanks in advance.
  5. So as some of you know I've been out of the forum for the last couple months, I've been moving back to Blighty and had bugger all time to keep up with the new releases, what's due out soon etc etc. So what is coming out this year, and what are you most looking forward to guys I heard some rumours last year about the Pelagos coming out at some stage, the Black Bay has just come out hasn't it? Has anyone got one yet?
  6. This is a continuation of the thread where I reviewed Trusty Time and the Planet Ocean. Following the successful purchase of a 42.5mm Omega Planet Ocean I decided to purchase a present for my mother and to treat myself to another watch. I decided to buy the Swiss movement Aqua Terra (Black) for myself and a Constellation Eagle (Quartz). I originally decided to get the Blue Aqua Terra but after seeing the QC pictures the shade of blue did not even look close to the gen so I thought I would play it safe with black. After waiting patiently for delivery I finally managed to get the packages. I slowly examined my mother's watch to check the quality of the metal etc and clasp etc. I then proceeded to check that it actually worked after fiddling around with it for several minutes the watch did not seem to actually work and I thought that the battery must have been dead, in addition the watch was too small for my mothers wrist and there were not enough links for included and it was quite tight on her wrist. I then went on to inspect my Aqua Terra and found the watch to feel a lot lighter than my Planet Ocean, its as it the links were hollow or something and the watch felt like it was an obvious rep. It felt pretty flimsy and the movement was actually loose. Andrew at Trusty Time assured me that I would be getting a sturdy one as the factory does "checks" before they are sent out. After looking at the watch for a few moments I was find as I was just happy it worked. so I wound the watch and started wearing it. about 20 minutes the watch started to stop when the second hand reached the 23rd minute marker. I was advised by Andrew to smash the watch hard against my hand to get the watch going again, which it did, but this is not a practical solution. I emailed him several times saying that I wanted two new watched that worked and that I wanted a different watch entirely or even a different model because I do not want the hassle of going through the whole process if the "fixed" watches messed up again. he said that this was not possible and I could only get it refurbished. I was seriously pi55ed off because I had spend over £500 on buying watched from him and he wants to refurb me these two broken watches, I paid the full price for a brand new rep and he wants to fob me off with these broken reps? I am currently in the process of sending these back to the factory and they will no doubt take months to get these back to me. I wanted to let you all know that whilst some replicas are good the AQ and the constellation are not so I would avoid these two models in particular. the look great on the pictures but we all want a watch that can tell time right ... I'll keep you all updated with the process. Thanks.
  7. Hi all, i was wondering how easy this is to do if anyone's done it before? My speedy lost the stem one night and now the crown just sits on the watch unable to do anything rendering the watch pretty useless. Any help is appreciated! Apologies if this has been discussed or is a stupid question, i did search but nothing really fit the bill. Chris
  8. Just read this article over at WUS, OMG, I am starting to worry with regards to my franken desires, maybe Omega SA and Swatch also started to worry over our Frankens and almors 1:1 current Planet Ocean Reps, Jeez Ya'll Omega heads better be hoarding those gen parts soon enough, I hope Frei & Borels will not be affected by this move. "Warning - Omega and Swatch restricting parts supply To those considering purchasing an Omega, or any other Swatch family watch, you should be aware that Swatch have just served warning in Europe that they are going to restrict parts supply. As quoted from Cousins.co.uk 'Swatch Group advise Cousins that the supply of watch parts is to totally cease after December 2015, this will affect all brands including Omega, Tissot, Certina, Rado, CK and Longines.' This is terrible news for all Omega owners and independent watchmakers and will have the effect driving all servicing and repairs towards Swatch, which as we all know is overpriced and is often overkill i.e. If your watch merely needs a crystal you are forced to have the whole watch serviced even if has already been serviced relatively recently. For those who do not live in the EU who don't believe this will affect them, please remember that Swatch and other manufacturers have already implemented this policy in other territories and that many independent watchmakers worldwide now purchase parts from Cousins." source; http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/warning-omega-swatch-restricting-parts-supply-1030851.html
  9. Hi, I'm looking to hobby and purchase my first rep, after researching I feel this forum could offer sound advise. I know there are many many sites out there, I have also come across a few individuals that specialise in not only a particular brand but a particular model, this is very appealing as if they have a passion for a particular model then they would create the best reps. As I mentioned I am looking to obtain my first rep, I am not fussed on make or model but more on quality, I would appreciate your expertise on this and any advise you could provide for what you thing is the best rep out there, you are welcomed to post pictures. Many thanks.
  10. I tried searching this topic but could not really find anything Is there any forum/site where you can request models of reps? I ask this cause I really love the Omega Aqua Terra models.... Now there are may sites that have them but they have the slightly older models that are all around 38/39mm but Omega makes the other Aqua Terra models that are a little bigger. ( I know they make the XXL models too that are on some sites but that is 49.5mm!!!!!! little to big for me) but the other models are 43mm-44mm and they look amazing! a few examples http://www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqua-terra-150-m/co-axial-annual-calendar/23110432203002 http://www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqua-terra-150-m/co-axial-gmt/23110432203001 http://www.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqua-terra-150-m/co-axial-chronograph-44-mm/23110445006001 I am trying to find these cause I don't want to diver timer on the outside of the face. Just not my style anymore. I really love the more elegant look of the Aqua Terra's. So does anyone one know where I could request/ask/order one of these bigger models? Cheers
  11. I recently replaced the bezel insert on my BP Omega PO Cr Ti 45mm and thought I would show you guys what it looks like inside and share some advice. Differences in the bezel I bought my Titanium PO in October 2013 and BP updated it with a new batch in November, so I was a little unlucky! Andrew @ Trusty has confirmed that these were updated and said that BP claimed everything was new. I’m not sure I believe the case has been changed, but the bezel insert clearly has been and perhaps the dial too. The pearl is now centred and much improved, but the most important part is that the bezel insert is now made from CERAMIC! For me, the insert was the only thing that didn’t quite sit right with this rep. It wasn’t really the right colour – too dark and had a greenish blue colour – and lacked the Liquidmetal shine as per the gen. I was still pleased with it but having fitted the new insert, it has made a HUGE difference to the overall appearance. The bezel now shines like it’s made from glass, has that greyish hue to it in low light and the brighter paler blue colour in bright light. The numbers/markings are also slightly finer. It has really improved the watch to no end and it feels far more gen-like to me. To anyone who bought their BP PO Cr Ti before November 2013, I seriously recommend doing this. Anyone can do it. Andrew sold me the bezel insert for a reduced price since the original I bought from him was so bad, but I think it normally costs $30-40. The only negative is that the grey markings are still only painted on and are liable to be scratched off through bumps and general wear/tear, as dredd0606 (on RWI) has found out. No clear coat on top. If you want any more convincing on whether to change your bezel, have a look at the other thread I have posted with pics and a video in the Omega section. How to remove the old insert I tried to take the bezel insert out by warming it up with a hair dryer (to soften the glue) and levering out the insert with a razor blade, following advice from forum members (thank you Sputim!). I attempted to lever out the insert with a knife but couldn’t get the damn thing out. Worried I was going to slip and scrape the watch, I ended up drilling into the pearl using a gimlet tool and pulling it out. This worked extremely well, once the gimlet’s threaded part had a grip it came out easily. Warming up the glue no doubt made this much easier. How to attach the new insert I used Unibond Extreme Power Glue and spread this using a wooden cocktail stick. Using glue was a BAD IDEA! This was because: a.) it left a residue in the gap around the insert (looks like dust in the pictures), although most of this dropped off over time and it now looks fine b.) it’s too permanent, if anything isn’t right when you’re done, you can’t change it without damaging the bezel c.) it doesn’t lift up the insert to make it properly meet the crystal/bezel. If you look in my photos, you can see the bezel now sticks out slightly over the insert, particularly near the pearl. It’s more obvious in these photos than it is in real life and I’ve learnt to live with it, but it’s not perfect. Sputim mentioned in another thread that he changed his bezel insert and used double sided tape. This is what I would recommend. The factory appeared to use a circular adhesive insert rather than wet glue (the type that has a glue on both sides) and this evenly lifts the insert by about 0.5mm, thereby eliminating problem ©. This is also helpful as this new updated insert seems slightly thinner than the old one, so it needs the extra lift. Double sided tape would also allow you to change it if anything isn’t perfect, thereby eliminating problem (b.). Of course no problem (a) either. You just need to make sure you use a very strong tape to avoid the insert falling out and clean out all the old glue to get the height of the insert right. Right, I hope that helps anyone who wants to attempt this. Here are the photos of the process. Be sure to check out the photos and video I have posted in my separate review thread to see how it looks in various levels of light. Full res photos available on Flickr here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjSUkgZt (full screen the photo then right click) You can see the adhesive ring/glue they have used here. Part of it has come off with the old insert, which is why the new bezel now doesn’t sit correctly, as shown in photos below Comparison of bezels Bit of glue residue on the crystal that wiped off - another reason for not using wet glue! The unevenness of the insert is most clear in this photo, with the rim of the bezel sticking out over the insert. It’s not anywhere near this obvious in real life but still something that could be easily avoided/corrected by using tape or less permanent adhesive. All that glue residue that looks like dust in the gap around the insert has now fallen out. The finished job:
  12. So after a shaky start with my BP Omega PO Cr Ti, I have finally got round to replacing the bezel insert and taken some pics now I’ve got rid of the awful original pearl. I’m not going to post a full review as khashayar has done an excellent job of that here, but would like to share a few thoughts. The titanium weight is great. At first it reminded me that it was a rep in the way that a lightweight quartz model would, but now I find it so comfortable that I can’t imagine wearing anything else as my daily beater. The lume is exceptional, I’ve never seen anything like it. The AR is excellent. Crystal disappears at most angles and has a pale blue hue from others, which is apparently true to gen. Only slight disappointment is that the crystal or AR has picked up a few scratches. The rubber strap is honestly the smoothest rubber I’ve ever felt. In fact the inside of the band doesn’t even feel like rubber, it has a sort of powdery feel. Apparently some gen bracelet owners have purchased the rep strap and I can see why. The detail on the stitching is exceptional and the clasp is very solid feeling. The bezel. This is my favourite part of the watch now that I have updated it. I bought my PO in October 2013 and a new batch was introduced by BP in November 2013 with a much improved ceramic bezel. The original was aluminium and a bit dull/dark. This new version completes the watch and is incredible. BP has done a fantastic job to replicate the Liquidmetal finish on the gen and the way it changes colour from a bright blue to a grey in different light. I have tried to show this in my photos, hence why there are so many. The only slight disappointment is that the grey paint is still liable to be scratched off the bezel. You can see on the triangle on mine that it’s already had some damage in the factory. This is only a minor negative though. If you bought your BP Ti PO before November 2013, I definitely recommend updating your bezel insert. More info here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/167544-how-to-replace-bp-omega-po-ceramic-titanium-bezel-insert-updated-batch-november-2013/ I have had a few issues with the ‘ETA’ 2836-2 movement (documented on the forums), resulting in the date not changing under its own steam. This is something I will be fixing when I get time. I always wanted a ‘Swiss’ movement though, so no regrets there. It keeps great time. Overall, the detail on every part of the watch is incredible. Now I have updated the bezel insert, for me this watch is a super rep. Everything is gen-like. I took it into an independent watchsmith and they thought it was a gen, particularly due to the decoration on the rotor and movement. Obviously this was ironic as it is the biggest tell to those who know their Omegas, but it shows the quality finish of this rep. A few of my friends have gens and they are all envious of this watch. I should note that I have changed the bezel insert myself and it now sits slightly unevenly, meaning the rim of the bezel sticks out, particularly above the pearl. This is shown in some of the photos but new purchasers won’t have this problem as this isn’t how they come from the factory. I need to work out how to remove the insert without damaging it so that I can re-fit it correctly. Please also excuse the slightly scratched caseback. When you’re a noob, use a stickyball, not a caseback opener like me – d’oh! My next project is to repair the movement so that the date changes under its own steam again (problem with the calendar wheel/gear) and file the hands slightly. I’ll post a tutorial once I get time to do the job. A big thank you to everyone who has posted their experiences or helped me directly, I have had quite a few issues with my first rep but am now extremely pleased with my purchase. Here is a short video showing the reflective qualities of the bezel. It would be great if more members could make video reviews, as there is really no substitute for getting a feel for a rep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KNyUl5r7oE A selection of my photos are below. I have taken loads to show the colour-changing of the bezel in different light, but can’t really post them all! The full set is available on Flickr here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjSULzk9 . If you want to save any full-res photos from there, just click on the full screen icon, then right click and select ‘original’. You should then be able to save the image. Enjoy!
  13. Just received these fellas. Couldn't find anything with the ole eagle eye. Let me know if you can. Thanks!
  14. Mates, I found a watch I immediately fell in love with and now need your advice: Is this watch available as a rep, or will be in the near future? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
  15. Found this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-SEAMASTER-007-BOND-SKYFALL-PLANET-OCEAN-232-30-42-21-0-wbr-1-004-READ-More-/181283910937?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
  16. I am looking to acquire an automatic GMT, with stainless bracelet. I'm interested in the "scalability" of the piece as much as the aesthetics. Meaning, I want to get something that looks and works great right "out of the box" (I like the Planet Ocean GMT, and the PAM North Pole especially), functions accurately AND is compatible with the maximum of GEN parts for hybridizing. For instance, the Omega that seems to accept (with some retooling) a GEN HEV, crown/stem, dial/hands. I am especially fond of the "tool diver" look. I'd appreciate any and all feedback on this topic.
  17. Newbie On This Site Here.. I am Searching For A Good Quality "replica" Omega Seamaster Or Speedmaster. If Anyone Has One For Sale or knows a reputable dealer I can purchase on.. Please Let Me Know. Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question and please point me in the right direction. Thanks!
  18. Hey, so i thought i would make this a discussion thread on the Omega SMP-C BLUE and BLACK, mainly the blue. Where one can share pictures, information and tips and tricks about the SMP-C. I've been told there will be a SMP-C in Blue with an actual cermaic bezel comming, i.e further information about that would be interesting. Furthermore it can be a thread to ask questions and share modding tips for the beautiful SMP-C. Picture credit: Hobsong1
  19. I wore this watch everyday about a month after receiving it before I decided to write a review to make sure that everything was in working order and will be able to work in the long run. I placed an order for the Ultimate Planet Ocean 42mm with the Swiss 2824 movement from Andrew at Trusty Time back in late December and received it before Christmas (Most recent link is here). I loved my gen Midsized Omega Seamaster Professional, but the size of the watch (at 36mm case diameter) started to bother me, as I wanted a watch that was more substantial in weight and presence on the wrist. However, the one I got from Andrew had problems from the beginning with the crown and tube not screwing down (one turn or less to release) and the movement not working correctly (eventually stopped working all together). When it completely stopped working, I emailed Andrew and explained to him my situation and agreed to have it repaired and I shipped my watch back to him on December 27. It was a few weeks into the mailing process that I realized that it takes a long turnaround time thanks to the mailing system in China after it leaves the US (explained in this post here). Eventually, after a bunch of emails throughout the months I get an email from Andrew with a picture of the repaired watch on a movement tester and a picture of the watch with the EMS label with my adress on it, it was shipped on April 20 and was delivered to my home on the 27. In the return box, I received my repaired/replaced watch, a dial (Replaced? I'm not sure), and a frame of the ETA movement. My impressions of the repaired UPO is that it is leaps and bounds better than the one originally sent to me in December. The movement winds well and can be wound by the wrist movements (unlike the one I got originally); additionally the crown/tube is much improved, it takes a good 4~5ish turns to completely unscrew it to the first position (for winding) and screwing it down (bonus is that the feet of the logo sits almost parallel to the wrist when screwed down or point down into the wrist for clarification). The materials of the bracelet, case, and crystal are very good and is almost feels gen (as I own a Seamaster Professional as a rough reference for comparison, as they are two different watches in the Seamaster lineup). The deployment clasp is good, whether or not the engravings is correct is ignorance on my part and the diver's extension works but is fussy when you want to close it back up. The only real aesthetic inaccuracies that someone can really call me out on are the bezel pearl (which isn't centered in the triangle) and that the raised Omega logo sits a tad too low above the Omega lettering on the dial (which is a bit less noticeable). The AR (anti-reflective) coating is present and often appears blue, but in certain lighting conditions will show the correct purple color; additionally the AR coating is easily prone to scratches when the crystal brushes up with solid objects (the repaired watch I got back had a few hard to notice scratches if you looked at them at an angle and a L shaped scratch on the bezel; I'm not too worried about those as it adds character to the watch and I'm more than glad that it works). The ETA 2824 movement is actually what Omega uses as the base movement of their 2500 caliber movements for the gen version of this watch (in which they modify this movement with George Daniels Co-Axial escapement); however, the Co-Axial escapement results in an irregular 7 beats per second as opposed to 8 on most automatically wound watches (like older Omegas and most modern Rolexes). This ETA 2824 movement doesn't suffer that lower beat rate (as this movement more than likely does not have the Co-Axial escapement installed) and has a nice smooth sweep and is rather robust which should handle a good amount of time without service; also, this particular movement keeps time really well, my aged gen Seamaster Professional keeps the time well as I wear it everyday and was serviced a few years back by Omega). The lume is were it shows a bit of weakness, it's not as bright as my gen when charged under the same light source for the same amount of time; the weak lume is the most apparent on the hands of the watch as they are dimly when charged under a light source. However, fluorescent light seems to charge it well as well as natural light, LED light doesn't like to mesh with the lume from what I observed when I used my phone's LED camera flash (in flashlight mode) to charge the lume. This watch fooled my uncle who loves Omegas and was shocked when I told him that it cost only $300 and change and that it was a rep. Needless to say he was rather impressed and wanted one for himself. To conclude this review, besides the small aesthetic inaccuracies and the lume, it is a rep that is definitely worth owning that is really close to the gen in many ways; as well as to commend Andrew for his patience and service for my watch during the repair process. Definitely let him know if there is something bothering you during the QC pic phase all the way to when something happens to it. My plan for my next rep is that I want is a Rolex Submariner in either the non-ceramic (like the D or Z serials without holes in the case and without the rehaut engravings) or the ceramic version (as long as it's accurate). I got a cheap Canal Street sub rep in New York as a souvenir but I want to have something like my UPO or gen that I can rock daily. I really wished I could of gotten the BK TW sub before he sold out, but I am looking at the TC sub and a ceramic sub from Andrew (since searching the forums didn't yield much on the Ultimate sub from TT, ROLSUB0017). That's my plan and my review, thank you for reading.
  20. Im looking to start a Planet Ocean 42mm Franken Project and looking for some advice... I have read through a lot of threads here regarding franken PO'S, there are some real beauts being created and posted here, and i'm, hoping to achieve something similar. so a few questions: Is the latest 5th Gen aka V5 PO (From Trevor or similar?) the best base to begin with? i.e does it have all the basics - good case, HE Valve in correct position?.. Any advice? Recommended TD's? As this is the most critical bit, want to make sure i start with a good one! I know i can source the parts from cousins or ofrei, Right? Below is stage one that should get it looking pretty good: Gen Bezel(Or insert/Pearl at least) Sunny Crystal(Got to be done) Gen Dial Gen hands Gen Crown & Tube Gen HE Valve Waterproofing I have a surprisingly good(guess i must have been lucky?!) 20mm SS Bracelet, from a PO rep that ive already got, but would look to get at least Gen End links and clasp in time, if not the full bracelet. Once i get the correct base unit, and all the parts, who would you recommend to get in touch with to undertake the work? Any experiences would be greatly appreciated!
  21. Hi Guys! I want to show you my last purchase. This project started up a few months ago after a conversation with my friend Darío (Reziarius). We talked about we would like to get a Seamaster 300 vintage NOS (he already had one, so this one would be his second ). After an unexpected delay because of a missing piece that refused to appear, I can finally enjoy of this full GEN timepiece. Darío, thanks so much for your amazing job! :kneel: Hope you enjoy the pictures Some wrist shots Thanks for looking! All comments are welcome
  22. I want to thank everyone on this forum - I would've never taken the leap and picked up these reps (my firsts) without all the information available here. Until now I never thought I'd be able to own the Skyfall Omega. This is definitely just the beginning of my collection! I just took a few pics when they arrived, let me know what you guys think. These are my first watch photos so any tips/criticism would be appreciated. Let me know what you guys think! Happy to be a part of this community. (Only complaint I have about the 007 is the second hand having the orange tip) http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5341/9956030695_873428ee26_o.jpg[/img Then I spotted this in Santee Alley in Downtown Los Angeles and picked it up for $150. Feels like good quality..Hope I didn't pay too much. Bonus pic of my now 10 year old Omega, a little beat up unfortunately. My 1st and only gen luxury watch.
  23. Hi guys, So I have been lurking for a while and am now down to 2 contenders (I think!). I am considering the black ceramic 300m Seamaster Pro and the Planet Ocean 42mm. Now I am torn on a couple of points that perhaps you could help with! I read a review on the black ceramic SMP 300m which was pretty positive. Cons: Backplate all wrong, weak lume The PO 42mm is include in the "super reps" list and appears to be pretty good? Cons: No waterproofing (as far as I'm aware?) Have any of you purchased either of the above and are able to sway me in either direction? I keep reading about a "noob factory" could somebody explain to me what that means? Is it a place where you can order different versions of the reps? Or do the standard dealers provide reps from the noob factories? Thanks!
  24. Dear RWG:ers, My father passed me his Omega Seamaster Rep which he bought in the early times of the now enormous rep industry. It features a Swiss movement, and is in terms of weight pretty near perfect to the gen. The lume is outstanding for its early time (2006), and is still tracking time like day 1 (doesn't lose more than ± 3 seconds/day for 3 days of consecutive testing). The 120 click bezel works great, and the triangle at the top of the bezel is pretty centered. I'm planning to wear this until the 2nd batch of the PO's come out, and then replace with a 45.5 mm PO. The problem with this watch is the little dot in the triangle at the top of the bezel (see photos). It's colour compared to the ones inside the watch, is way off, thus being a big giveaway. Does anyone know any way - without needing to spend too much - to fix this error? Popping it out, repaint it (jk!)? Any tips would be helpful. Here are some pictures (taken with my iPhone):
