  1. Gentlemen and ladies, I recently picked up an old school MBK 1680 from another member. It was advertised as having a gen crown. The tube (clearly not a gen tube) is worn out so I ordered and have received a 703 tube. After further examination of the crown I found that it looks like (from the outside) the gen 703 crown on my 16610 but it does not have the skirt on the inside that slips down on the large o-ring on the case tube. What crown might this be...if it is gen. Additionally, it will not screw down on the new 703 tube. This is a red flag to me. Would another Rolex 7mm crown have different threads to screw down on the tube? I thought that had not changed. (Me thinks it might be the original MBK crown.) One sure fix for my problem is to order a gen 703 crown to go with the new 703 tube. Is this a real bad gig (on a 1680) or have 702 crowns and tubes been replaced with 703s. Many of the 1680s on eBay look like they have 703 setups. Thanks a million! M
  2. Now that I have a TC Sub V6, I am looking to mod it a little to make it more accurate. To do so, I am looking to replace the crystal with a gen crystal that has the proper laser etching. Does anyone know where to buy the a gen crystal for the 16610 Rolex Submariner???
  3. Hello All, Today I returned home to find the TC Submariner V6 Arrived. I am pretty noob here but I am diving pretty deep into the submariner, pun intended. You all can see some pictures attached below. I will be sure to post more picture if you want to see a certain aspect. Since I am so new, I will let you all be the judge. Please critic flaws you see. I took some pictures of the TC V6 next to my BP Ceramic Sub. My initial impressions are as follows: The watch is beautiful. I think I like the old Sub model much more than the bulkier ceramic model. I also prefer the smaller hour markers. Some worries are as follows: The bezel doesn't make the same loud clicking sound, although it does click, just a duller tone. Also, the watch feels pretty light..idk if this is because I am used to the ceramic model which is more bulky. Also, and probably my biggest concern, and I would be curious to know if this is just normal for the older sub models is this: The bracelet feels very light and the clasp feels a little cheap when comparing to the BP Ceramic version. All in all, beautiful watch and I have to say TC gave awesome customer service and he sent the watch in rapid time. More details to follow. Please let me know what you, the experts think...
  4. Hey fellas found this very helpful link! http://www.vikbobil.se/bezel.html
  5. Hello Gents, I received my TC LV sub a couple of months back and finally got around to doing a review. The ordering process is different than dealing with other trusted dealers but well worth it!Once you place you order and make payment the wait begins. Turn around is usually 25-30 days. TC's packaging is impeccable! I've never seen so much care and attention to detail in wrapping and securing a replica timepiece. TC leads by example and is a trendsetter. I've been in the rep game 20 plus years and hands down this is the best sub next to a gen! From the case, band, dial, bezel assembly, insert, and lume this watch is superb. I highly recommend if you purchase a classic sub TC is the go to guy! Unfortunately this particular model is no longer available, but he recently released a new TC V6 sub with gen like dial and Caddell Vintage insert. All I can say is don't miss out!
  6. Hey All, Happy Thanksgiving! I am closing in on my next rep purchase..currently looking at a Rolex 1680 Red Sub from Trusty. Link Here: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7&products_id=7091 I have analyzed it and was wondering, since 99.99 % of you have more knowledge than I do in this area, I was hoping you all could critic the flaws so I know what I am getting myself into...
  7. Hello all, I understand this must be a variation on the classic " Best Sub" Question, however, I am trying to find a good, if not the best out there, Rolex Red Sub, Vintage 1680. Have any of you had any luck? Any suggestions or direction would be a huge help. Btw, I am noticing a big flaw on some are the silver/metallic date roll....weird...so I am trying to avoid that. Thanks all in advance!
  8. Hey All, I just bought a BP Submariner and received it today! Awesome watch! great feel and look. Anyway, I notice it doesnt relly glow in the dark unless it is charged. I was under the impression that superluminova doesnt need any charging or prompting. Can anyone explain the difference between superluminova from other lume and what the lume is like on the gen?
  9. Hi guys! A short article from Hodinkee which caught my eye today: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/on-the-block-a-first-series-rolex-submariner-but-with-a-different-name-on-the-dial Pics: Also for Daytona fans: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/hands-on-with-a-selection-of-rolex-daytonas-from-christies-lesson-one-auction-live-pics-details Thanks!

Please let me know if you know if these are the same... Also, Any positive and negative criticism for and against each is very welcome. I am looking to make a purchase. ...Puretime just told me they are out of stock for 1 - 2 months...
  11. Thought I would post some quick snaps of these two. The Datejust specs: (gen)ETA 2892A2. gen Rolex 16233 DateJust case set E serial (1991) gen Rolex 295c crystal + gasket gen Rolex DateJust silver sticks dial (markers are white gold) gen Rolex tudor hands gen Rolex engine turned bezel gen Rolex SS crown gen Rolex datewheel gen Rolex clasp Nearly everything visible to the naked eye is gen. Even the springbars are gen, though you can't see them. Weight is within 2 grams of a 3135-equipped DJ. The sub took like 6 months to get to my door. It got lost in the mail. Supercool member Coolchu001 waited patiently with me while everything got resolved. He also shot the first two pictures, which made me want the sub in the first place. TC 16610 LN Gen Insert TC 'Combi' bracelet V3 with V2 clasp Clark crystal Thanks for your time!
  12. Hi all, Looking to buy a 5513 from one of our TD's. From whom should I buy and which version would be the best way to go? Josh, Trevor, Angus ? Thanks for helping me out! If anyone wants to part with their 5513, please keep me in mind as well. Thanks!
  13. sorry if this should be posted somewhere else. Guy is selling his explorer II and sub who is fairly close to me. I just honestly can't tell if these are gens or not... only pics of it I have. The seller has little feedback, but everything seems to check out? the mag windows are the only things that look a bit sketchy to me. I know it will be hard to tell , but if anyone can chime in for some advice!
  14. This is the 4th version of TC 93250 bracelet. It's predecessor was TC 93250 V3. TC 93250 V4 is made by a different bracelet maker. The V3 bracelet maker refuses to make improvements on the V3 clasp coronet or place engravings in the SEL trench. To me, the V3 bracelet served as a good quality stainless steel bracelet. However, the coronet on the V3 clasp is the Achilles' heel because it is not as protruding as V2 clasp, which representing gen oyster clasps from 2002 to 2007, or is not as slim and crisp as gen oyster clasps from 2008 to 2010. Earlier this year I promised Janeto72 to persuade the V3 bracelet maker to make Janeto/TC 93253 bracelet for the two tone Submariner 16613. With the V3 maker reluctant to make further improvements, I had to seek alternative options/makers because making two tone bracelet requires even more accurate tooling and machining. Another reason being the V3 maker was reluctant to make any more counterfeit watch bracelets. I will try to debrief the atmosphere in China some time later. Let's just stick to the topic for now. Sifu L hooked me up with a reputable bracelet maker in Thailand. He vouched for me that I'm not some undercover agent from FHS (Federation de l'industrie horologere Suisse). Then the project 93250 V4 went on. TC 93250 V4 bracelet maker gave me a tour of his factory before I placed the order. I was quite satisfied with what I saw - a clean, organized manufacturing facility with seemingly civilized, Westernized administration, which translates to easier communication. Before my review, I want you to know the batch I received has some variance issues. Here's SSTEEL's review: My Interim Review of Ordering/Purchasing TC's Type II LV Sub. Here's the problem reported from HeuerTag and pbwatch on RG: Pictures: TC 93250 V4 bracelet. After reading the reported problems, I spent the whole weekend unpacking every piece of TC 93250 V4 I received and inspect each one of them. I did find variances and some I would categorize as defective units even by rep standard. To make sure TC 93250 V4 has the best fit with TC Sub case, I have to hand pick and match the bracelet to the case. Therefore I will no longer pass TC 93250 V4 to members as a stand alone part. SSTEEL reported TC 93250 V4 safety clasp edge being a little sharp. It is true. I checked my gen safety clasp and I confirm it is a gen feature. See how gen edge is polished to the point it begins to turn just mirror finish. Same with TC 93250 V4 safety clasp. If you are already accustomed to the modern super cased Submariner 116610 all rounded edges, just a tad sharp at the safety clasp is how classic Submariner 16610 really feels like. If you don't like it, the edge can be dull out by a nail file. Take away the variance issues, TC 93250 V4 bracelet is probably by far the best stainless steel Submariner bracelet I ever found. The V4 SEL has the same good fit to TC Sub watch case as V3 did. TC LV Sub to the left, Gen 16610 Sub to the right. The bracelet edges are gen finish. TC 93250 V4 clasp coronet against gen. Gen to the left, TC 93250 V4 at the center left, TC 93250 V3 center right, TC 93250 V2 to the right. While my pursuit is after the perfect sub, we have to remember that we are also paying 1/15th of the price compare to a gen. With this said, I will have to strive a balance and pick and choose which I will have to sacrifice with my limited resource. This is my logic of evaluation. Since my goal is the aesthetics of looking and feeling like a gen, the improved coronet is a big step forward in the right direction. The SEL trench etching is an added bonus but when push comes to the shelf, the etching I can do without since no one will see. Over all, the improved coronet on the V4 clasp along with the etched 93250 are the winning points for me. In the end of the day, TC 93250 V4 represents the original 93250 finish better than any of its predecessors. TC 8/14/13
  15. Hello Gents just a quick post to let members know that the raffles are the real deal and please believe you can be a winner! I never win anything and this is very exciting. I'd like to share a few quick pics! Again Thanks so much Mike, RWG, and all the members that made this happen!
  16. Hey fellas, Can anyone possibly identify the maker and/or quality of this sub? Basically(as we OCD watch geeks luv to do) critic the heck out it! It does have a smooth sweeping hand that appears to be high beat Swiss movement. The case back hasn't been removed to verify it.This is the first LV release Pre-rehaut engraving. I know the crown and lume dot are not up to specs. The DWO looks like TC's and appears to be very good quality. Any other observations would be appreciated. Now have at it boys!
  17. thebestsub.nl is a site I ran into while looking for purchasing a Submariner 116610. I am a noob but I have been doing some research. The watches here seem to have the correct rehaut engraving, the hour markers seem good with correct size and borders, the cyclops seem to project the date at 2.5 times. The descriptions of the watch on the site are very thorough and have close up pictures as well as a video. The watch runs on a ETA 2836-2 movement with pictures to show that it isnt a clone, which I'm okay with. The bracelet has that hairline finish with no polished links like bad reps have. The guys who run this website also disclose that these watches are from their supplier in Guangzhou, perhaps one of the TDs on this forum? Apologize for any noob remarks but hoping you guys can help out with this. Thank-you
  18. Hello Gents, Check out this eBay listing. Is it me or it this a replica and bad one at that! The pearl is hideous! http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-SUBMARINER-50TH-ANNIVERSARY-16610LV-MINT-COMPLETE-WITH-BOXES-AND-PAPERS/360676850844?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D8496584489995847805%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D321146471515%26
  19. Hello Gents, Here are a few quick pics of my 42mm Ceramic Cobalt Blue Rolex Submariner. I own a gen Sub and when I ask people which one is gen they always pics the 42mm! Of course they're just your average person. We all know Rolex never made a 42mm sub or did they ???LOL Well enjoy the pics!
  20. My obsession with the lugs on this watch made me reshape them this morning. I think it was Dow who told me not to ever look at them because it would drive me crazy..... well it did! Also a little while back I had damaged the plexi so today I finally got a new one and again had to drop it down to make it more of a gen height. Your comments and thoughts would be appreciated. The work on the lugs as well as dropping of the Clark T19 plexi was done with a dremel tool and then sanded to smoothen things up. Gen for comparison: Lugs: Plexi: I think I could probably take off a little bit more but you know how it is with case shaping. "Perfect is the enemy of good" Mine: Before: Notice the lack of the slant on the edge there. After: Lugs: Crystal replaced:
  21. I haven't seen these on his site before, wanted to know if anyone has one/if they're any good (especially interested if these are 'wokky'). http://www.ingod44.com/rolex-completed-case-submariner-6538-big-crown/ It looks VERY similar to NDT's and Minh's offerings: http://ndtradingcorp.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=259
  22. First of all, can I hashtag a forum post? I think I just did Down to business, I am having some s#itty luck with my Reps lately, they just seem to be falling apart. My latest issue is with my 116610 Submariner. The bezel pearl (which wasn't great to begin with ) has simply fallen out and of course I have no clue where it could even be, nor do I plan to look for it. Any idea where I can source a gen, or good rep pearl for this watch? While I like the look of a vintage sub that is a little beat up and missing the pearl, that look doesn't seam to suit this watch just yet and I would quite like to fix it. Any advice would be very much appreciative. I'm also still looking for a replacement DSSD dial, just throwing that out there. I also don't have a picture, I think "the pearl fell out" is pretty self explanatory
  23. Gents, Bought this Rolie 116610 LB Super clone 3135 from Puretime 3 months ago. I really love it and there is no way that I get rid of it but the thing is that lots of things are not OK at all. 1) As you can see the clasp/bracelet is broken 2) The beater looses nearly 3 mns per hour. 3) The 12.00 o'clock mark is way too close to the Rolex crown. It nearly touches it !!!! 4) And finally the sunburst blue bezel insert is way too different from gen. I think Domi could easily fix 1) and 2) but for 3) and 4) I really would like to get a gen dial and bezel insert from an 116619LB. As you know this is quite hard to find but do you have any idea where to source this 2 items ? If too difficult, where do you think I could find a perfect dial/insert replica that would fit the 3135 case ? Am not a super Rolie expert and I would welcome all your advises and comments to make this beauty a better rep. Thanks in advance. Fran.
  24. As far as I now factory reps are never really waterproof only water resistant, am I right? Now is there anybody who added the waterproofing which is offered by perfectclones or trustytime for the additional 50usd and will this enable safe swimming with a rolex sub for example? Thanks for your inputs
  25. As some of you may know I have always been a fan of lugholes and have had an ongoing Submariner project for awhile now. It's based on an ST case and after several movement incarnations and some drastic case reworking I wound up here: Bezel, insert and crown are genuine, dial and hands are TC and it's powered by a high-grade 2824 movement I found on ebay. I love this watch imensly but it's just not there yet... And so, having to order some parts for some watch repairs I'm long overdue on, I found myself ordering the ST 3035 (16800) case earlier this evening. I'm not sure yet what the endgame will be but it be nice to have the two cases side-by-side for a comparison. I already have a super-franken 16610 anyway, I think it's time to get a little vintage! I'll update this thread as parts start to arrive and the build goes together. Thanks for looking! ~Brendan
