  1. If making a franken 14790 with gen dial and hands(found)... Which movement to use? A JLC 889 would be nice, but I'm afraid its far too expensive and rare... So i was thinking a 2892 and an EDGE DW! Does that sound reasonable? Are the hands "crimpable" on the movement? BPH should be right for AP cal. 2225 ... right? Also, is the current latest version 14790 case and bracelet "good enough" to make a franken build reasonable? Like the 14790 b/c of the closed caseback.... Gen bracelet, possible? Thanks in advance! Rille
  2. For some time I've had my eye on the Safari and think I'm about to move on one. I noticed pure-time released a new line of Noob Royal Oak's on bracelets last week. This is a great addition because I think very few people do anything with the fake croc straps except throw them in a box and leave them there. Can anyone chime in if this is a new version of the 42mm Noob or if it is just a re-release on steel. I've done my due diligence and think i'm going to go with the Noob over the JF and pic up an APBands strap. I've tried the gen on a few times and have noticed differences and imperfections between gens which is strange but seems somewhat common among AP watches. This should make for a nice little fanken project. If this is different than the older Noob, does the forum have an opinion??? Thanks, here are the pictures from puretime. PS: Can anyone chime in if this is the current bracelet dealers are selling that will fit the new AP Divers? I have a version 6.1 http://pure-time.com/product/royal-oak-offshore-safari-noob-11-best-edition-on-ss-bracelet-a7750/
  3. Hello everyone and thanks for having me in the forum, i have been reading into rep watches in this and other forums for a month now, and think that now im educated enough on the topic to ask proper questions. so far i have a gen rolex sub, but want a watch not everyone has. my three favorites are 1. the royal oak cronograph 2. royal oak offshore chronograph RG 3. the royal oak offshore black theme. As i want the best rep possible, pruetime has now the 2014 jf black themes. its superlumed and AR coated so i wont have to mod that. however i would rather want the offshore chronograph RG since its less similar to my submariner. i read that some of the gold plating may fade and the rubber might peel. i prefer the clasp on the 2014 black themes to the deployant clasp on the RG model though. the watch is not going to be my daily beater, that place takes my submariner, but i want something for going out to dinner etc and something that will last for a couple of years. how does the movement of the two watches compare? is the 2014 jf more reliable (both A7750 right?) what would you chose in my position. thanks alot in advance. ps i need it in a 42mm since i got 6,7" wrists...
  4. Welp, since there's some unknown force preventing me from gathering enough funds to start my first franken project, I decided to put it on hold. In the meantime I've been looking into the "platinum" version of the 44mm ROO. I like the panda 44mm, but the blue interests me. Does anyone out there own one? If so, flood pics here please
  5. Let me preface this by saying I like a bit of bling, but for some reason this panda makes me very sad
  6. I saw this on PT and just about fell out of my chair! I know for sure that date font needs to change, but other than that, I really dig it! What do you guys think? Will any of you be picking one up?
  7. Alright guys I finally took some proper shots of my HBB and ROO so here ya go! First let me give you my opinion of these pieces first now that I've spent some quality time fiddling with/wearing them. The AP: Easily my favorite visually and functionally of the two. The forged carbon material is amazing to behold in person. Nice and lightweight, very solid fit and finish on everything, and the lume on this is ridiculous! (as pictured) The hands are very legible which makes it simple to tell time during the day or in a pitch black room. Only issue I'm having with it is the strap is too big for me, so while I wait to come up with some XS straps, I punched an extra hole in my existing strap and that works for now. I do eventually need a replacement though because I think I made it a bit too tight, so if you have a spare XS strap for a 44mm ROO (if such a thing exists) let me know! Final Verdict: 10/10 even though I need a smaller strap! The Hublot: Absolutely love this watch! Not too much to report here. Great look, great fit, the Donerix strap Legend fitted to this is gorgeous, albeit not my cup of tea for everyday wear. I ordered some tyre rubber straps online today along with the H screwdriver so I can swap those out as soon as they get here. I can definitely see putting them back in though for a more formal event. Having tried on a genuine, I'm happy to report that this watch is virtually identical in look and feel! The lume is also very good, but not as bright as the AP, it's also a little harder to precisely tell the time on this watch since the hands are so wide. Also I'm not sure how to wind it. The crown feels like I'm winding it when it's pushed all the way in, but I'm unsure if that's what it is. Anyone out there know? Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever! Final Verdict: 10/10 Both of these pieces are incredible! They both have an unparalleled wrist presence, especially on a small wrist like mine. I haven't had people approach me yet, but I've definitely seen people look from a distance, and they seem pretty impressed haha. They're also very nicely weighted and feel very similar to, if not identical to their genuine counterparts...and they keep great time! I love fiddling with the chrono too! Not sure why, it's just fun Overall I love these watches, Legend is awesome to work with as well. The guy is a wealth of information and knowledge about our fun hobby and I see him as a great mentor and friend to me. Bottom line, I'm totally broke now but couldn't be happier!
  8. Hi guys, Here are some pictures of my Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Dual Time. Inside is a 23J movement with working power reserve. The dimensions are diametre 43,5 mm x 14,5mm thk. They said it's a working 2 time zone and that I have to set via the crown. I've got no idea how, so that's why the time is the same... Enough talk, let's go to the fun part:
  9. Welp I finally decided on 3 reps to buy! This is my shopping list. Two for work, and one for play. Let me know what you guys think! 1: AP RO Toubillon (blue dial) http://www.intime.co/product.php?id_product=1499 2: AP ROO 44mm Forged Carbon http://www.pure-time.com/product/royal-oak-offshore-44mm-forged-carbon-11-best-edition-a7750/ 3: Cartier Santos w/diamonds http://www.torobravos2014.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=75_143&product_id=775
  10. Hey Gents need your help. I've never owned an AP and never been a fan til the recently released Carbon Diver and Bumble Bee. My dilemma is which one do I chose! I'm a diver and already have a nice collection of dive watches but am always still drawn to them. On the other hand I never use the chrono features on any of my chrono watches but do think they are very appealing and eye catching. I don't want two AP's so which one do I chose!!!! Based on over quality and looks give me your thoughts fellas. Thanks!
  11. Hello members This is my 3rd 15400 in 2 months. After the BP black dial (sold), then a Miyota white dial (sold), I decided to get another one. I think I won't sell it in the next... 2 months (May be???). As everybody knows, I'm an AR freak. Then, I put inside a Domi/Guru AR Xtal. After that, I tell to myself why you don't try something different? Well, I decide to mod the open caseback. This is what I did..... Put a tint film with standard light 35% inside, then... Here is the result. So what the guys say....
  12. Hi All, First time poster here, been doing a lot of research and have finalised on 4 AP's (I know, its not much of a finalisation lol) that I would like to choose my first purchase on! I'm having a hard time deciding between these 4!! I was wondering which one you would recommend as the best out of the box rep? (I know some of you will mention the Diver but I'm not too into that one) The choices are as follows: 1) (Black 15400) best-edition-black-dial-on-black-leather-strap-a2824 from PureTime I like the 15400 because of its classy yet simple design, nothing to flamboyant. However, I've read that there are quite a few red flags with this one (ie. the AP logo is not glued properly etc) 2) Bumble Bee - Bumble Bee is pretty self explanatory, its drawdropping gorgeous! The rep seems pretty darn top notch as well. However, I'm not too sure if I want to get a rep watch that's "screaming" for attention. Not to mention that the price is pretty steep! 3) Ultimate Black Dial from PureTime - I actually like this a lot. Its subtle yet not boring to look at! Im not too sure about the quality on this rep though because people of this forum have been back and forth about it! 4) 2014 Black Themes -I like this updated black themes, but again, there hasnt been much in-depth discussion regarding the rep quality of this watch! As mentioned, I want to choose one where I wouldnt have to tinker with. (Ironically it seems like its harder to find a mod in China ) As of now I am leaning towards the Bumble Bee the most, solely because a lot of members are saying it is the "best" rep they've seen out of the box. However, if some members could tell me if the Black Dial or Black Themes or 15400 (Black Dial) is the same or even better quality (out of the box), that would be the best! I'm not too overly fussy with the movements just as long as the aesthetics is gen-like. I have previous experience with purchasing a rep Milgauss from TrustyTime but the steel band was pretty disappointing compared to Gen Rolex's. With this, I immediately assume that it would be even harder to replicate AP's higher quality metal bands. This is the main reason I am looking at mostly leather straps. Thank you all in advance for your help!
  13. Hi guys Here is my RC fully modded by the master Domi: - Case brushed - All screws on the bezel sunken - Movement service - Jewel modd - Hands and dial relumed with C3 - AR on crystal - AR on cyclop - DW cutout painted black - Change the black DW to a white Noob DW Featured a Gen rubber strap + a Sead no hole clasp sand blasted by a friend (a Jewelry's maker)... Have a look... And sorry for the quality of the pics, my iPhone doesn't do justice of the beauty of this watch.
  14. Can somebody point me in the direction of their favorite ROO? It's time to buy one so I just wanna make sure I make the right decision the first time. I want to do as little modding as possible because I'm lazy and impatient. I'm still willing to do it if I have to though. So I want it to look as close to an original as possible right out of the box. This is my favorite that I've dug up so far, but I don't care for the rubber bezel. Looks like a dust and lint magnet to me. http://www.intime.co/product.php?id_product=944
  15. Hello my beloved APers, got my first AP and with it, the infamous problem with the sec@12 movement So now I'm calling out to you guys to please enlighten me with a detailed description of what the Jewel Mod actually is. I have no intimate knowledge of watch movements, but I do see an advantage here, and I have very good reasons to ask such an extensive question, so please bear with me: My watch is at my local watchmaker, getting serviced soon. Since he is replica-friendly and is an AD for many swiss watchmaking brands like Breitling, Longines, Cartier, he (and his team of 5 watchmakers, i think) seems to be quite the professional. Now the advantage that I see in this situation: "Why not try and ask him whether he can pull off a jewel mod?" I figured it neither would hurt nor would it cost anything to ask, plus it would be a great advantage to all of those that are thinking of doing the jewel mod or those still to encounter the sec@12 problem, to know that there is yet another watchmaker capable to do it. Now to the problem: I have only a very vague and faint idea of what the problems with the sec@12 movement is, the most frequently used word being "!!!!!!!FRICTION!!!!!" to describe it. And something with "gears". -Yes, I'll glady take the smirks and grunts those of your reading this, because I myself am amused about how little I know about the watch i spent 500$+ for. For me to be able to ask him, therefore, I would like to ask you if you guys could explain to me what, exactly, the problem is, and what, exactly, the jewel mod is and does. For those of you patient enough to answer this question, I am very thankful And for those that are tired of seeing this topic AGAIN, I am very sorry!
  16. Probably not, but figured I'd ask anyway.
  17. Hi Guys, I have a quite interesting question- Is it normal that there is an extensive gap between the dial and the centre of the hour and minute indicators? I know that there has to be SOME gap, but this looks huge! Check it out, maybe kindly check out your own AP ROOs (that are not franken), let me know if this is normal: Thanks for your help!!
  18. Hi guys, any chance the experts know whether this watch exists/once existed? Been searching through the web but cannot find a trace.... http://www.torobravos2014.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=18_49&product_id=910 Thanks
  19. Here it is ROO GP v2 Imaknockov forged carbon case set installed Domi jewel@12 mod Dial color mod Sandblasting of metal parts Gen GP strap Sorry about the bad pics but I haven't touched my DSLR in months...too lazy and too little knowledge
  20. Hi guys! I've been doing a lot of thinking about this lately, and these are my top 5 watches of all time. What are yours? 1: Richard Mille RM055 2: Ulysse Nardin Royal Blue Tourbillon 3: Hublot LaFerrari Tourbillon 4: Romain Jerome Moon Orbital Tourbillon 5: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore "Safari" (PS: If somebody out there has a rep of this they'd be willing to part with, let me know!)
  21. Hi there, Need 8 screws and nuts for a genuine Royal Oak Lady (cf. exact model attached) ! Many thanks in advance. Julien
  22. Hi AP'ers, I have been reading around, seeing "Scratch Magnet" as a common way to describe the Chronopassion. What do you guys think? What have you experienced? Is the Chronopassion really a watch to be handled with silk gloves and worn under a shirt only made of silk? Looking forward to hearing your opinions...
  23. Hello AP'ers, Sorry for the second post, my original one doesnt show the link I posted... :/ Could you guys tell me if this is a V5? Sales told me that they received the watch from the factory a month ago, and that the timing indicates that it is a V5. Ive read around that the V5 already has rounded pushers... but in this case it doesn't. Im not sure whether its different from TD to TD. You guys are the experts! Thanks for the help!
  24. Hi guys! I was super bored today, so I decided to go to a local high end watch shop, and DUUUDE I was blown away. All the best watches all in one place. I was totally overwhelmed but I tried on a few things! I tried on a Richard Mille RM011, AP ROO Safari, and a full diamond Franck Muller Casablanca. I wanted to sneak some pictures but the staff was way too strict and didn't allow it It was a great trip though! Place is practically walking distance from my house. This post was kinda pointless but just figured I'd share! What was your first gen experience like?
  25. So this will probably end up being a controversial topic, but somebody's gotta ask... If you could only choose one rep, and one only, which rep is the be-all end-all of reps? The one that's either a dead match to the gen, or if not, SO close that nobody would ever be able to tell. (with or without mods) It doesn't matter if the gen is unobtainable either, in your opinion, which rep out of every single rep you've seen/owned could stand up to scrutiny from even the most skilled set of eyes?
