  1. What do you think of this .... ? I love it
  2. So after loosing my awesome Tag Heuer Calibre 1 rep a few weeks back (stupid me, I left it on my car while putting on sun screen at the grand cannon and drove off), I decided to hop back into the rep game. I purchased the version 2 of IWC Marck XVI Spitfire from a trusted dealer. I am very happy with the look of the watch but it is running VERY slow. I've been wearing the watch for about 10 days now and still no improvement that I can find. I watched it the past 2 hours and it lost ~30 seconds in this time. I emailed the dealer and his response was to manually wind the watch for 5 days and slap it against my palm. I've done this now for the past 4 days but nada. Some questions: 1) I want to make sure that I am manually winding this correctly. To do so, I am unscrewing the crown to position #1. Position #2 changes the date, position #3 changes the time. Then, in position #1, I am spinning the crown clockwise 30-50 times. Is this correct? 2) I read online that it sometimes take 30 days for the oils to spread out through the gears. Is this correct? Would I really expect a watch this slow to slowly fall into a good rhythm over 30 days? 3) in my QA pictures the AMP was shown as 327. That seemed high to me and I raised my concern with the dealer. The response was: "the higher the better....we have now sent you this watch". Could the high AMP be to blame? 4) Assuming the watch remains this slow, do trusted dealers ever take care of this issue (either through an exchange or paying for servicing)? Thanks all for the help!
  3. My dad has a rep portofino and lost one of his push-buttons. Question is how to fix this and where i can get a new push-button. Does anyone know a supplier/watchmaker in holland who can fix this? I have a picture attached as a file. Thanks!
  4. I've been thinking about this one but am having fun doing some research on it before diving in. One of the things that was mentioned about this rep is the crown being too wide. From what I've seen, that doesn't seem to be the case on the "best" rep (which I could not find who makes it, all I see from the TD's is that it is made by the "best maker", and on PT this example is better than the other "1:1" model, this is one of the more confusing pieces to research). imgur.com/7ggRlc0.jpg Top is rep, bottom is gen. Its been hard to find non-rendered stock photos head-on for the gen but I think overall the rough measurement is pretty clear: right on two second notches from 3. The rep seems to nail it in that regard. Thoughts? (New member, will request link change)
  5. Hi Guys I just received my new IWC Mark XVI V2 watch from one of the TDs here. It looks great to me, but have a problem adjusting the date. Traditionally, the date can be adjusted by unscrewing the crown and pulling it to the first position. Mine doesn't work, and to change the date I need to pull the crown to the second position and adjust 24 hours on the hour and minute hand. Any DIY solution to this or advice on how I can resolve this myself? i am about to get a blister on my thumb for adjust 1 to 27! TIA! I will post some pictures after I clean up this little one
  6. Hello to all. New member here but not a newbie. I've been in the rep world for a few years but no way an expert like most of the crew here. Bought the noob IWC Sport for Good from Mark at Timeshops. Service was great and he responds well. Read a lot about how great this watch is, and I'd been to the AD to check it out. They had the regular Invenieur in black without the solid caseback (could see the movement), and after loads of research pulled the trigger! Watch arrives in 10 days and first impression is Woah!! An awesome piece if you like a dressy look. Dial and hands well done, close to gen. Hands look good and the movement on the Swiss is impressive. The dome is a little less than the one I saw but barely noticeable. Did I say great movement!! The blue color of the dial screams quality, and the strap, while nowhere close to gen is better than many reps. Power reserve clocked at 24hrs, and keeps good time. So what's bugging me? The caseback has engravings from the Sports for Good Foundation. The gen seems to have a deep/dark engraving (first pic). The one from Puretime has a similar look (second pic). Mine seems to have a white-ish, almost printed engraving (third pic). Reached out to Mark who said the factory makes one quality for the Swiss version (450 bucks +). I've sent him Puretime's pics. This is the biggest tell on the one I got. Else super-rep, but not really super if this is different from gen. Any thoughts guys? Did they pull a fast one? From the pics the difference is quite obvious, unless (a) I have to scrape off the white coating! or ( this is how it's supposed to be on the gen/super-rep and the pics show different. Comments welcome!
  7. Friends and Experts I am pretty new to the REP market...just got my second rep from TT and awaiting the watch. First being - PAM 332 Limited edition expendables watch(a definite super-rep) and now waiting the Brietling Skyland Avenger Black Chrono(a very good rep). Just wanted to know which are the SUPER REPS available in the market today? Can someone please guide. Brand doesnt matter I know there are some very good Subs and some Pams around as a super rep. Anything else in Rolex, Brietling, Tag etc?
  8. Hi I would like very much to get a nice rep of Chronoswiss. I know that there were very few nice reps of it. However recently I have found on several websites this Lunar Chrono and the photos look really great for me. However I am not sure if it's not a fake to attract a people - they could put the pgotos of gen just to attract a people. I feel this also for an IWC perpetual calendar. I have never heard about those reps but they look just ammazing. Also no idea abou the movement. they write only one word - authomatic. Do you know something about those pieces? Would appreciate your comment. I love complications and perpetual calendars. So if you know another watch in a similar way, will be happy to get your advise! Thanks, Ivan
  9. Trying to pick out a new GEN. I don't have many, I have an all black Uboat 53mm Chrono, and a DSSD. So I am looking to pick up something pretty versitile that I can mix in with some occasional wear for a few reps. The short list is: IWC Portuguese 7 Day (Silver dial with blue numerals) I have always like this watch, it is timeless, and the 7 day movement is a great achievement. Great dress watch that I could wear to work regularly but not something I can wear on the weekends. IWC Big Pilot I have always loved this watch and it again shares the 7 day movement. I was a little disappointed as it was a bit uncomfortable on the wrist. and is really a weekend watch and could occasionally wear it to work on casual days. JLC Master Compressor Extreme World Chrono. Big watch with nice presence can get away at work and on the weekend. I like the history of JLC, and the complication of the multitimezone function. Zenith El Primero Striking 10th. Great history, and a nice limited watch with cool 10th of a second big second hand chrono. A bit plain looking on the wrist though. Panerai 233. The ultimate modern Panerai in my oppinion, can dress up and down, love the 8 day movement and 12 hour GMT. Really looking for a watch that will not be repped well in the near future. Would love to know what the forum thinks???
  10. Did you guys already see this? http://www.iwc.com/de/news/at-home-out-on-the-circuit/ It is going to be presented January 2013. So a long time to wait for a good Rep. Until now I had no feelings for the IWC Ingenieur in general. But I totally fell in love with this version of the new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer: What do you think? Have a nice sunday!
  11. Hi, I'm thinking of getting a Top Gun Chrono (not the split-chrono version), but since Im new to the reps, Im torn between the choice of a V1 and a V2. I'm not one of the movement connoisseurs, but I know that the 7750 is a pretty reliable chrono movement. However since the V1 and V2 options that I am considering both have the 7750, could anyone advise me on what those terms mean and which one I should go for? Thanks for your help! J
  12. Hi, Im new here- so Im not sure what I can hope to find or simply forget about. I am looking for a rep 5001, which is the "simpler" version of the Portuguese chrono, in terms of dial complications. I have found a few reps on Puretime and Timesshops, but the particular model does not have a neat finish on the subdials- what i mean is that many reps have "rills" on their subdials, whilst the gens are smooth. So essentially what I am asking for is whether anyone knows a dealer, other than those mentioned above (which in no case is a criticism!), who might have good reps of the 5001? Thanks!
  13. the watches currently in my everyday rotation: Pam 005 latest noob version , iwc 3717 with genuine calibre 79320 , genuine Longines Legend Diver. (photos taken with iphone 4s and shaky hands) * iwc has started the datechange , all centered normally. thanks for watching -miagi
  14. Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum, and definitely not as advanced as many on here. I have a question regarding this watch (IWC Portofino Hand Wound Moonphase - 5448). It seems wherever i look, no dealer has been able to replicate the appearance of the original movement. The see through case back should look just like the movement of the FA Jones. I know size wise these are completely different watches, but from an appearance standpoint, they are supposed to look similar. That being said, the rep versions that I have found seem very attractive even though the movement looks nothing like the gen. There seems to be one flaw that is consistent with every dealer even the ones that this forum recommends. On the movement of the rep, Eighteen Jewels is spelled 'Eighten'. It seems that whoever is making the parts for these dealers has made a spelling mistake. I was wondering if anyone could provide any feedback if they have seen a rep which has the "FA Jones Looking" movement, of has seen a rep with the wrong movement but with proper spelling. Like i said, I am new to this and I am sorry if I am reposting something that has already been discussed. I tried to look through but have not seen anything referencing this subject yet. - Ruski91
  15. Just picked up a very nice resale IWC 3717 rep with the SS bracelet, but have one small problem - too small, so I need to put the extra 3 links in, normally no big deal. BUT - only have one pin, and need 2 more. Anyone know where I could buy a couple of the pins by any chance? Took it o my watch guy, but he didn't have anything that would fit, unfortunately. Any help would be most appreciated - dying to wear it and can only look at it longingly right now!! Thanks!

  18. Hi there folks. I'm new on here, mainly because i'm thinking about getting a rep IWC from Silix and wanted some good advice and support from the experts. I can't do a link to the watch i'm after until i've posted at least 5 times. It's a IWC Pilot, black face, black leather strap, date viewer at 3, and supposedly has a Swiss ETA 2824 movement. Any thoughts :-)
