  1. Various close ups of the dial and hands Crown Bracelet clasp Case back and SELs My thoughts on it so far; overall it is a very, very nice rep. the dial is lovely, as are the hands. The talk about being able to see the difference in the gold colouring of the hands and the dial markers - I can't see it in the flesh. Maybe there is a slight difference in the colour of the lume (in daylight) but it's more obvious in pictures than in real life. Bracelet is lovely and solid. SELs fit snugly. Clasp is nice and positive - if anything it's a little too tight to undo the main clasp. Like a lot of other people have commented, the bezel is slack (side to side movement) and the ratches is "almost not there", and this is the major negative. Downsides i've noticed:- * Bezel, weak click spring, side to side movement (a user has taken up the slack with a piece of coke can cut to a washer shape and has reported a huge improvement) * Clasp - a bit tight to open, but with wear it will become just perfect. Also if you look at the clasp image showing the three holes for the micro adjustment, I think these holes are a fraction too small and the spring pin doesn't seem to fit into them properly - a bit of a concern as if the spring pin comes out, the watch may drop off your wrist. * Crown - it has approximately 1 turn from thread engaging to screwed down - not much and I hope it's not another Omega PO crown thread disaster - a little bit of TLC, smoothing the threads and a touch of grease to try to enhance their longevity will be a good thing. * Bracelet screws - This is really the norm for any rep bracelets with screw in pins. They're made with low tolerances, and so as soon as the pin has been screwed into a bracelet section, they'll force the threads on both parts so they "mate" with each other. If you are careful and put the pin back into the segment it came out of, it goes back in nicely and without any problem. Mix the pins up and force them in and I bet the threads will strip very quickly. Just common sense really. Overall : I really like it. Very good job, and for the price, a damn good watch!
  2. Hi RWG, Here's my first project-a homage of the Tudor Submariner 9411 Snowflake. A little background; like most WIS, I love vintage submariners and I wanted a homage to satisfy my craving for one. When I decided I wanted to build my own homage, I was torn between a 1680 and a 9411 homage. In the end I decided to go with the Snowflake because most folk in my area don't know the Tudor brand or their awesome watches! The movement is a Sandoz ETA2824-2 which does not hack, but I will be looking into the possibility of getting it to hack. I read online that the usual case is a missing stop lever so I might be able to get a replacement lever online. The case was once a Rolex 16610 replica (I think) but does not feature gen-like construction. It also lacks lug holes-my favourite design trait in a vintage sub! The dial is from Tiger Concept and the hands from another vendor online. All the parts- Movement (the original datewheel had to be replaced with another one so the font is different) Dial and hands. The dial is the usual 29mm size so the hour indices appear smaller than on the original- Here it is before the bracelet arrived. It's on a padded black leather strap with burgundy stitching- The blue bezel was nice, but I wanted a black one so it was replaced. Unfortunately I decided to practice bleaching on it so now it's a faded, teal coloured bezel Here it is after the bracelet and bezel insert was installed. The bezel insert was the usual gloss black and since I wasn't happy with my bleaching attempts, I decided to give it a coat of acrylic matte black. It wore off now so I'm going to have to tackle that bleaching job eventually! I also removed the clicking mechanism and made the bezel bi-directional so it matches the vintage theme. The pearl does not match, but I had a hard time removing it and I thought I'd leave it on till it falls off on its own The bracelet is a sterile 93150 type but with a 78360 type sterile clasp. No drilled lugs... Matte black bezel insert- Lume shot- I'm very happy with how it turned out but I'd like to try out new mods on this to make it better. For starters, I'd like to add texture to the dial and relume it with a puffy lume, then work on thinning down the crown guards and softening the case. So there you have it, my first project. I'm always on the lookout for a beautiful 1680 or 5513 case with drilled through lugs so I can make a true-to-original homage of the 9411. My next project is going to be a vintage Datejust build for my father. The base watch is on its way to me so I'll open a thread for that when I receive it. Thanks for viewing my thread! Jay.
  3. Just received this watch a few hours ago. Had to post a few pics and first impression thoughts. Now i cant compare this to a gen, so all observations are general. I compare fit/finish against other reps like Pam111 and SOSF v2. Bracelet: Was very "rattely" upon arrival. I soaked it in Rock n Roll lube and washed it off. Now if feels very good. No hard edges. Clasp snaps in as it should. SEL fit and endlinks are just great. Case: It collects fingerprints like an iphone screen! I find myself polishing the case with my shirt all the time. The inside corners on the lugs are razor sharp. Maybe its possible to sand thoose down. Otherwise the case is good, sits great on the wrist. Crystal: AR is good. Better than my Noob 111, but not as good as the SOSF v2. Its raised but i don't think its as doomed as the gen. I think.. Color hands/indexmarkers: We know they are not the same color. But you wont notice this on the wrist. This is a non issue. Dial: Just great. Pure class and good execution. Bezel and pearl: Biggest letdown of the watch. It turns pretty easy, but its a 60 click bezel. Maybe it should be like that, but im so used to 120 click bezels so it feel strange. It also feels "sheap" when you turn it, it has a bit of play and the pearl does not center 12 marker with a click. Its between clicks if you know what i mean. pearl is centered and looks good. I know an updated pearl will be released, i don't see any reason to change this pearl. A non issue for me. Conclusion: I have waited for this watch for over a year. Been following the RG thread daily. I had high expectations. But when my boss bought the gen i told myself that this would be a C&R. But im not so sure anymore. Its a stunning watch with a lot of character. The grey dial and gold hand is just purse sex. Its a small watch, but wears pretty big. This is something ppl notice. The feel of the watch is very good, im starting to really love it. I highly recommend this watch. Go get it Now on to the pics.
  4. it has been like forever since I posted here, I am looking into adding a new watch to my collection. A Tudor Heritage Black Bay. Has anybody bought one of these and there is any review, who is the best one to buy from, or do all the dealers have the same one. Also My membership renewal did not go thru the last time, so I do not know how to renew. Regards Cyb
  5. Short video from Hodinkee.com. Nice collection! http://tudorwatch.hodinkee.com/tudor/2013/10/16/video-the-thirteen-milsubs-of-grahame-fowler

  8. It's been really lacking some Tudor action here for the last few weeks so I thought I'd share mine if you share yours too Currently in the box Sub to start Heritage Black Flake Blue Flake (snow for Nanuq) Now it's your turn
  9. Hello Gents just a quick post to let members know that the raffles are the real deal and please believe you can be a winner! I never win anything and this is very exciting. I'd like to share a few quick pics! Again Thanks so much Mike, RWG, and all the members that made this happen!
  10. Hi fellows A new vintage Submariner Tudor 7928 (little sister of the 5513) on Josh website : http://www.p-cls.com/tuv01001-vintage-5514-style-date-submariner-asia-2836-28000-p-14543.html What do you think of it? Decent ? Is it a good basis ?
  11. Just a quick post regarding the recent purchase a friend of mine made. This is his first forray into the luxury watch market and he got himself an excellent deal on a Tudor Black Bay from a local AD. He shot me a message to show me a wrist shot and a couple other pics but was concerned because it wasn't ticking. He had given the watch a full wind of about 20 crown rotations, given it a gentle shake to get the balance going and he still had nothing. He assures me that there is resistance when he turns the crown so it's probably not a mainspring break and when he shakes it he describes the watch as "trying to sweep" normally, even without the main spring being wound you will get 5 seconds of sweeping just from the natural oscilation of the ballance wheel. but he's not getting even that. I suggested the possibility that the hair spring could be damaged or the balance could be binding and unable to move and if even one reducing gear is binding then the movement will be dead. Do any of our experts have a suggestion as to what could be wrong with this watch, this is just out of curiosity as he plans to have the watch exchanged for a new one and wash his hands of the problem. and for the record, this Black Bay on the distressed black leather strap looks incredible, I just love it and am kind of jealous.
  12. Hi, I found someone able to engrave Tudor 7032 bridges using a Panograph Engraving Machine very popular machine used in the 50/60/70's. This is an example of his work on a Cortebert movement: Now, he needs a CAD file to do it? Can someone manage to do it using this picture? Minimum order is 5 units. The price for engravings is 65 usd + 10 usd for shipping. Anyone interested?
  13. Hi Guys, I've been wearing for almost 2 years now my 7032 built by Spinmaster with a 7734 Valjoux 45 min counter. So now I want to update it with the following parts that I already have: - Gen tropic 128 - Yuki minute, hour and chrono hands - Domi subdial hands (when sent to him for assembly) - Gen 700 crown with tube. One thing that is buggering me is the bezel and I found a replacement one on ebay. What do you think of the engraving? Is there other alternatives? Picture of my watch: Picture of Yuki Bezel: Picture of Phong Bezel (very inaccurate imo): Picture of Ebay Seller Bezel: Picture of Gen Bezel: What do you think? Is there any better option?
  14. Is any factory will making rep Tudor Black Bay? still don't hear news for it? do anyone know? thanks
  15. It's a rainy day and I'm playing with my toys (Eos 600D, Photoshop, watches). Hope you like it! Datejust 16200 Submariner 14060M Front facing with reflections Side view Tudor Heritage Monte Carlo Homage Grey Dial And at last, but not least Omega SMP 2531.80 Enjoy!
  16. Tudor HERITAGE CHRONOGRAPH-70330N -BLACK DIAL I've lusted after this one for nearly a year now. I've passed on a few used ones that I've seen for sale on TRF and elsewhere in this time, but couldn't pass this one up. I've been looking for this black dial version and not the grey dial (grey is closer to the vintage model, but black is sharper yet retro and more contemporary IMO). I love the size and feel of it, just perfect with 42mm case being the sweet spot for my 7.5 inch wrist. This one came originally from an AD in Canada, but only a month old with dated warranty card from April 2012. Lucky for me some crazy Canadian didn't like it so traded it in with a TRF dealer in Orlando (DavidSW), and so I get a brand new Tudor Heritage at a used price. I'll let the pics tell the rest. Dealer's pic of the clasp (couldn't get a good one myself). Love the design of it and how it resembles the Tudor emblem. Incredible AR on this one. Lume shot! Completely stoked about this one. You have to see it in the flesh to truly appreciate it. Thank you for letting me share.
  17. I don't often build up a two-tone watch as they really aren't "me" but I found a couple gen Tudor Prince Oysterdate dials in an obscure corner of the parts box so decided they looked awfully lonely. One was a "plain" gold dial while the other was a linen texture and I decided the "linen" would be my first victim. It is so enjoyable building Tudors like this - no feet to clip or dials to glue on, no DW overlay to jack with! Build Sheet: NOS Gen Tudor Prince Oysterdate gold linen textured dial. Rep 34mm Two-Tone Prince Date case. Borel spring-bars. Rado signed non-hacking Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement. Rep Two-Tone 19mm Prince Date style Tudor signed bracelet. Rep gold tone Prince Date hand set Sapphire crystal Trying to decide if I'll keep this one, maybe I'll make a decision after building the other one but here's some pics...
  18. I sent JMB a MBK 1680 that Reg sourced and a few Yuki Tudor parts and after a few informative emails on how the build was progressing, here's what I received. It looks and feels incredible and I'm very pleased with how it turned it out. With all the work that was put into it I feel the overall cost was very reasonable and I'm definitely thinking about another. On the left:
  19. I want to swap out the rolex dial in my James bond Rolex sub 6205 with a tudor dial. I'd also like to replace the bezel with an aftermarket one (still debating on whether I want a blue bezel or 'red triangle' bezel). I have collected a series of links (the first 2 being what I'd like it to look like after the swap/s + dial/hands aging, and the below are the possible insert and dial 'donors'). Would the dial & bezel fit on this? Also, which dealer should I contact to JUST get the dial from? Mary (watches international)? What I'd like it to look like: http://www.tudorcollector.com/index....&id=9&Itemid=4 or http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...8/2xredt-1.jpg The watch: http://www.perfectxclones.com/p6676/...duct_info.html The possible dial: http://puretime.co/product/vintage-t...ume-dial-a21j/ The possible bezel/s: http://www.classicwatchparts.com/cat...cntr3uukrrppu2 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bond-Submari...#ht_1383wt_759
  20. Hey all, I'm looking for a nice franken Tudor for ~$1,000-$1,200. I like the 9411 model, and I'm comfortable using an ETA 2824 movement instead of a gen. Who is this 'Phong' guy I keep hearing about? Does he sell frankens? What's his deal? I've never built a watch myself, so I rather buy it 'whole,' or at least have the builder (concepta?) source all the parts. td
  21. Seen this one on the bay and I'm wondering if the list price is in the right ballpark for one of these pieces? Any advice greatly received and yes just looking for now! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tudor-Submariner-Snowflake-94110-Amazing-Condition-/180918647230?pt=AU_Watches&hash=item2a1f9779be
