  1. Hello friends of fine watchmaking, My Tudor 7016 is now ready and I want to introduce here. I hope you enjoy it! I have used the following parts: Cartel Case (completely revised). Case-Back Engraving by JMB. Athaya 700 Crown and Tube. ETA 2451 (the base calibre for the Tudor 2483) with a GEN Tudor assembly and rotor. Phong dial and hands (relumet). Phong vintage Insert. WSO Tropic 19 Plexi. And now the pictures:
  2. Hi there, I have finally finished my ranger project and I am getting a little fogging under the crystal when washing dishes. I am wondering if there is moisture still in there from when I cleaned the threads for a new case tube with alcohol/ water. Anyway, the crystal is a Clark 25-123 and wasn't a very tight fit in the first place. I sealed it with crystal cement. The case is a Yuki 74000. Is there a better fitting crystal I should be using? Is there a chart with the measurements of the different crystals?
  3. Hi everyone, First time post after a while lurking, can't rate the place highly enough. Been looking for a rep Tudor Black Bay Black but wanted to ask those of you who have bought any reps a few questions I've seen many versions on the black bay going all the way to v4. But these only seem to apply to those carrying the red bezel (beautiful but not to my taste). Has anybody here bought a black bay black they would recommend? And how does it compare to the various "v2/3/4" red versions? Any one willing to share pictures or emails of dealers you purchased them from would be really appreciated! Thanks guys
  4. Hi fellow watch druggies. I would like to share with you my project - The Tudor 7032 Monte Carlo. Ive been gathering the parts for some time but now I feel that I would like to focus om making this watch to a reality. Im still missing a lot of parts but scavenging the interwebs for parts is part of this hobby right? These are the parts Ive got: 1. DW Tudor 7032 Sterile Case 2. DW Tudor 7032 Dial 3. Gen NOS Rolex T-128 crystal 4. Classic Watch Parts (Michael Young) centre seconds/chrono hand. This was bought in a group buy on RWG a couple of years ago and has also been repainted by the janeto for a closer match to gen. One of a kind (5 total I believe?). 5. Yuki hour and minute hands. 6. 1 Subdial Hand, also purchased through a group buy. Unfortunately Ive managed to get just one hand, will try to get a second one, otherwise I will have to use Yukis. 7. 702 Crown. Im not sure but I think its Athayas crown. Sourcing a gen 700 would be nice. 8. Gen tudor Clasp. The parts that Im missing: 7734 Movement Datewheel. It feels that getting the correct datewheel is impossible. Ive been in contact with a member who said that he could etch a datewheel but I have not heard anything more about this. Second correct subdial hand. Bracelet. Not sure what bracelet is the correct one. Endlinks The Mods that I would like to do are: Send the Dial and hands to Big dazza for relume and aging. Engrave the case between the lugs. Make the caseback engraving deeper. Try to engrave the movenent bridge. Not sure if anyone has tried it. Send the watch for case aging and assembly to a modder due to my bad temper when assembling small parts together. Here are some images of the parts:
  5. About a year ago, I bought something from someone on ebay which started me on a journey… I think I bought a strap or something equally mundane but the seller asked if I would be interested in any other watch related parts as he was selling some stuff from his late father who was a watch enthusiast, collector and amateur, but skilled watch smith. One of the many things he offered me was “an old broken Tudor watch”. When I got the bad pictures the case wear looked good, the dial was a very poor copy which was worrying, the crown was not in the movement and the case was “not openable” so it was not possible to know what the movement was or if it worked, if the tube was good or the crown itself. He was selling it “as is” but it came with a bracelet that appeared to be a gen early pre 7206 rivet which could be correct to the case. It was fairly cheap, not super cheap but I thought in the worst case the bracelet alone should almost make me my money back. This is what I got… A very early PCG Tudor GIlt Sub... everything seems to be gen, the crown, tube, super domed plexi, case, caseback, insert (prob a later one), the bezel had a bad repair when I took it off but it appears to be gen (but I am not 100% sure there) and not only was the movement a gen 390 but it runs perfectly and even the hands appear to be gen gilt period, all be it lumed very very badly. The dial however was trash… so I started a hunt for an early gen gilt Tudor dial. After months of looking and WTBs I gave up on the gilt dial, I considered buying a rep… only Phong and MQ make decent ones, with MQ being the only real really close “true gilt” one but even that has inaccuracies and was something like 800USD. A few weeks ago I managed to find another early Tudor dial with great patina. Not correct to this watch but I figure a gen dial is far better in this case than a rep one. (debate begins on that point). Here are some pics which were a joy to take… the dirt, the wear, the little repairs, the honesty in the case is really nice to see. If anyone has any clues on those case back engravings (military?) please let me know. I hope you enjoy them... Case Case back Bezel Dial So the build begins…
  6. I've just bought a genuine Tudor Tiger. It's been through the wars a bit, it has a aftermarket bracelet and the pawnshop owner was a bit too vigorous with his polishing. But I paid under the odds so I'm happy. I'd like to get it back to the original (or as close as possible). Some of these models (79280) came with the sharkskin strap, polished lugs and an endlink which was matt/polished/matt. Some came with matt lugs, a jubilee style bracelet and a matt/polished/matt/polished/matt endlink. My questions are Do I need the endlinks to attach a strap? Or will a curved end strap fit? I've read somewhere that you need curved spring bars for a strap on this watch. Is that correct? Where would I find the end links? Where would I find a strap? Where would I find a bracelet/deployment that's not gonna break the bank (replica?) Help me out guys. R
  7. This is my collection at this very moment. Some of these are from the a previous raffle that I was lucky enough to win. Thanks Mike on a bike btw. I also have couple cheapies I'm about to sell that didn't make it into the pics, but they will be gone soon. Omega Railmaster XXL Omega 300 Master Co-Axial IWC PIlot Chrono 3717 Vac Lumed IWC Portuguese Ardoise Rolex DSSD AP T3 Titanium Bell & Ross BR-126 Heritage w/ gen strap Tag Heuer Monaco Rose Gold Hublot Big Bang Rose Gold Tudor Pelagos
  8. As the title states, I have searched the interwebs for a few months now, maybe not correctly, for a Tudor Monte Carlo 9420 Plexi model number. I have managed to find a non cyclops plexi that fits, and I will rock the creation in the Fall like this until I find the correct unit. Yuki won't disclose information, or sell individual parts. Cannot find any source for parts other than the bezel, dial and hands. I also need the actual dimensions of the case back. Long story short, I was able to get a case that actually fits the 7750 quite well and will be working on some hybrid of the 9420 and earlier Monte Carlos. Thanks
  9. This is a Snowflake budget build that I completed about two weeks ago. It was meant to be a project that could be completed for under $250. Sooo, that meant I was unable to do some of the more detailed things like the engraved caseback, gen spec 580 end links, send out to get case reshaped etc. But I think it looks great for the investment and it accomplishes exactly what I was looking for. The parts are: Case: cartel 5512 Hands: raffles Dial: raffles I haven't aged this one apart from a little bit of hour marker aging which can't really be seen in the pics. I plan on doing the insert sometime soon. But for now, I;m enjoying the new old stock look. Next build will be a Tudor 7922 big crown! I'm excited about that one as well!
  10. So I've been here for quite a while now and I thought it was about time I did my show & tell for the class those of you that know me or have dealt with me know I have a particular weakness for dive watches and lately that has gone off a touch and I've bought a couple dress watches just for a change, I joined here and had no interest in Rolex or Tudor neither brand did much for me...........boy how times change! Tried to give a little info on each piece I have so bear with me if I go on a bit First up is my Super Ocean Steelfish from Sead late last year, A2836 movement on mesh, fantastic Ar on this one and wears nice Next is a new one this week, Frederique Constant Peking to Paris Chrono Loved the look of this piece since I tried it on at the AD last year but here in Oz the rrp meant it was way over priced imo, so after searching around on and off for the last 9 mths I eventually found one brand new with box etc and snapped it up, thanks to a certain member who knows who he is getting it here was swift and pain free too it's one of 1888 made and is what I consider to be a great value Gen piece! Gotta love that caseback The Jlc Navy Diver is one of my favorite pieces, I bought this from a m2m sale here, it has the A2824 movement and I have it on donerix Black Shark at the mo which is really comfy.....if your thinking of getting one of these don't hesitate they are fantastic Seamaster Pro, the watch that brought me to RwG looking around to make sure I didn't buy a rep online made me look up the tells on here and after a couple weeks I found this Omega Smp for sale, it was one of 2 Smp's I picked up in the same week or so, kept the quartz as I preferred the look of the dial and sold the 2220 on (silly boy) can't buy one for reasonable money now! Love the red seamaster writing and the dial is just fantastic looking, would love to AR the crystal at some stage Planet Ocean Ceramic, had a couple of these now in both sizes, amazing quality and my only niggle is with the 42mm date window, it just looks unfinished..... easier to rep though and I will def get the orange 42 when it settles down a bit, they are such a great piece! The Orient Mako XL wasn't on my wishlist until a short time ago, I was half pissed and looking at some nice wrist shots from other members and this one caught my eye......you know how the rest goes.......cracking piece mind and yes it gets plenty of wrist time too, great value for money piece and waterproof too Pam029, I got this one from Andrew early last year, it has the Asian movement and has kept decent time since, awesome looking dial and great presence on the wrist always gets other people's attention I have it on a Gen black leather strap most of the time but recently got this Asso strap off the bay cheap as chips, oiled it and that's it Mbw Patek Nautilus I picked up recently on here from a great member, it's got the swiss movement and importantly for me the closed caseback love the dial because it changes so much when you wear it from blue to grey to black fantastic Rolex Mbw GwsD, this one came from a really nice guy on here and has had a few mods in it's time, it's the old style case set with reworked cg's, Gen Crown/tube,insert/pearl,crystal great looking piece and probably gets less wrist time than it deserves My first modded watch and one that J built for me out of nothing really, picked up a cheap movement on the bay and a case from one of the guys here sent that to him and he sent this back been a beater for me ever since Tc Sub is really one of my first expensive reps that I was lucky enough to buy, at the same time one of our members came up with a gen insert for me and voila a rep that is imo 98% of the gen all day long! Hasn't missed a beat since I bought it and gets out of the box regularly, love it if you only buy one sub rep make sure it's this one ! My blue Ceramic, what a great looking piece this one is, I got this one from member sale here it has the Sa3135 clone movement in it and had a dial swap from the std Angus to BK dial done by Dom, cracking piece and the clasp is first rate too.. Gmt's gotta love em I reckon this is my fourth one so far, first one went south immediately from Trevor the hands were touching the crystal and scratched the crap out of it, picked up another and then sold it as I picked up this modded one from over on Rwi, if you ever think your parcel is lost in transit think again (at least for a while) this one took 3 months to get to me! So long in fact that I forgot I had it and only took a pic in the group shot had a full relume by strodda including the bezel and it's great ! did I mention I started off with no interest in Rolex or Tudor ........... So this Tudor sub was bought from a member here, it came modded already started with a 5512 donor then had a 2770 movement put in along with Gen service dial and yuki hand set, I added a Gen crystal and Gen crown to finish it off, love it and it just looks right now with the crystal swap Tudor Snowflake, my first build from scratch and one that I couldn't have attempted without the help of some of the members here, I gained a heap of experience doing this one and boy it was fun getting the piece to where it is atm started off with a PC 5513 donor, put in a 2846 movement along with a dial from the bay, correct hands came from J, Clark T19 crystal, Gen 703 crown (so needs a 702) tube from J, was all put together and vintagised (is that a word) by J who drilled the lugholes for gen bars and engraved the caseback, put it on 580 endlinks which fit perfect and a tc v2 clasp and she's good to go, love the piece but not sure as yet if I like the vintage lume.....we'll see eh! Tudor Heritage Qtz was picked up recently on a m2m sale next door from fana05 who I must say looked after this one brilliantly, it's one of my cheaper buys but bloody hell it's an awesome piece, if you can lay your hands on one of these grab it, you will love it I missed this 9411 the first time it was for sale and was gutted, luckily the member who bought it gave me another crack at buying it and I'm so glad he did from what I gather it's a phong case set, Yuki dial and hand set, Gen crown/tube, crystal, Gen insert with Yuki pearl Gen movement and Gen spring bars, the bracelet it came with looks like a mix of Gen and rep but is way too small for my wrists! I bought a Gen clasp for it I'm just looking now for some 501 endlinks (gen prfd if you have any pm me) beaut piece and dare I say a keeper Mbw Tudor no date build was underway when I got the one above so I carried on with it mainly because I liked the look of the black dial without the date, it's a newer 5512 case set with a swiss 2836 movement, Yuki dial and hands set and a Gen crystal which makes the dial look awesome, the bezel on this one is really fat and gives it a different look from what I have already, not sure why that is but perhaps someone can enlighten me I'm trying to find a Gen blue insert for it atm to get the look I'm after (first pic) wish me luck ! Steinhart Ocean Vintage Gmt, with the 2893-2 movement a beaut piece that I wear quite regular, it's really comfy and even though I'm used to smaller watches it feels right on the wrist, great brand and excellent value for money the lume is amazing too Tag 500M I bought from Angus has been modded by Vac with cyclops removal, double AR and a full relume, waterproofed to 7atm drove me half way to mad waiting for it to be modded but bloody hell was well worth the wait time, the lume job is spot on and screams Gen, that along with the double AR makes this a keeper and regular on the wrist, love it Borrowed lume shots by jkay (takes much better pics than me ) Tissot PRS516, this watch is so understated it's not funny has a great quality feel to it and exudes class with the fuss free dial, I can wear this with anything and go diving too Few group shots.............are you bored yet I must say a big thank you to all the members on Rwg both past and present who have helped me along the way since I became a regular here, their contributions to the forum have been a godsend for me a special thanks to Jmb for putting up with me and building some great pieces, to woof to for holding my hand through my builds and generally being a great guy and to everyone else who I know especially Mike who keeps me from myself buying too many watches it really is a great forum and it's a pleasure to be here. I hope you enjoyed a look into my watch collection and hope it helps you make some choices for yourself further down the line
  11. Hi guys, Some pictures of my new Tudor Submariner 7928. - Tudor Submariner with Rose dial - Josh Case - Rep custom folded link bracelet - Rep "No Name" endlinks - Caseback engraving by JMB - Vintage relume (dial and hands) by The Zigmeister - Lollipop second hand replaced and lumed by The Zigmeister - Genuine T-19 crystal - Dia 39mm x 13mm Thk Enough said, let the pictures do the talking! Some pictures after I bleached the insert: I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
  12. Beautiful shot of the Tudor Black Bay and the Rolex Submariner No-date. Shot in Lausanne, Switzerland.
  13. Was bored so I took some shots in the snow from a couple of watches out of my collection. I hope you enjoy them Oh and a wristshot
  14. I would like express my appreciation to Sead which help me to purchase this Tudor BB Red from ZF . Initially I have ordered IWC Laureus Sport For Good foundation but the marker on 12 is not aligned hence have decided to change to BB. It took 1 week to arrive and the watch is very sharp and very nice IMHO except that the dial seems very dark compare to all picture that posted in forum. Sead have been very patience to let me run through all QC pictures , raised up all concerns and looking from a better option from the IWC Laureus to Tudor BB. To me it is very important during the purchase process. Highly recommended to deal with Sead!! After resize the bracelet and oil bath, it is good to go and really to be wear during New year eve party!! Happy New year everyone !!
  15. Good evening, Just searching for one TBB and torobravos is featuring a newer V3 version... puretime has V2, both 318usd -the same happens with the Noob Subs (V3 in puretime vs V4 in TB) - I read in other post here than they are the same, so I wonder if you could tell me if there is a difference or is just a marketing move between dealers. I know both are TD, just want to make sure! One other question, a watchsmith could make a watch waterproof? At least waterproof enough to do some swimming? Regards, Ricardo
  16. Hi guys, I've got this watch laying around for a while now and I never uploaded pictures of the watch. I don't know why because it's a real beauty! So better a little late than never, here are some pictures of my Tudor Black Bay. Thanks for looking, every comment is appreciated
  17. So I'm considering purchasing a Tudor "Snowflake" from Phong. There are plenty of threads on this site regarding the accuracy of other watches, but I haven't really seen any regarding the accuracy of the Tudor 9411 that Phong produces?
  18. Okay, next question about a gen Tudor that I bought 15 years ago. I remember being really impressed at the time of purchase with the lume, but as the years have gone by, the lume has faded to nothing. And a couple of years ago I managed to chip the sapphire (just under the cyclops, tiny but it's there) and one of the links in the bracelet has managed to buckle, not badly but it spolis the look. I'll post pictures when I get home. My questions are: 1. Is it worth having the dial relumed? Or is it just better being 'authentic' and lumeless 2. How much should I be paying to have the sapphire replaced? 3. A buckled link? How on earth am I gonna fix that? Can I actually buy a single link anywhere? Or am I in for a whole new bracelet?
  19. Hi all, So I'm very interested in getting my hands on a "vintage" Tudor 5514. I see that Trusty has one, with Asian 2836 movement. Has anyone handled one of these? How accurate are they? Are they well made? Is Trusty the best source to pick one of these up, or is there a better supplier? In the long-run I'd like to have one custom-made (or do it myself), but I'd like to get my hands on one to see if I like it, before I invest significantly more cash in it. Either way, just looking for a nice vintage Tudor Submariner. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.
  20. The Black Bay is a beautiful watch, gen and rep. That said, what stinks is that the Pearl is a giveaway, and so is the dial. Raised type and texture missing on the rep dial. I wish they fixed these two things and I would buy buy buy. Does anyone know if these have been updated on the newest version?
  21. Hey gang, just found this interesting link on the Bay while looking for some parts for my Snowflake Franken... There is a seller in Singapore that is apparently making custom solid stainless end links to be used on Tudors like the Black Bay and Heritage chrono, so that there is not a gap between the case and strap with bands and NATOs. Kind of expensive, but I thought it a neat idea for some of us that are really a bit anal-retentive with things like this. >> http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-STRAP-END-LINKS-FOR-ROLEX-TUDOR-BLACK-BAY-BIG-BLOCK-THC-AERONAUT-GMT-/321252671142?pt=US_Watch_Bands&var=&hash=item4acc26bea6 (Note that I am not the seller, nor do I know the seller, but thought that it was an interesting idea, albeit a little expensive for some non OEM parts).
  22. So as some of you know I've been out of the forum for the last couple months, I've been moving back to Blighty and had bugger all time to keep up with the new releases, what's due out soon etc etc. So what is coming out this year, and what are you most looking forward to guys I heard some rumours last year about the Pelagos coming out at some stage, the Black Bay has just come out hasn't it? Has anyone got one yet?
  23. Yesterday, while at work I was approached by a coworker, telling me of this Rolex that he has laying around in a drawer, collecting dust! He goes on to explain that it's an "Oyster, or something," and "I think it's the real deal." He tells me that the watch is quite small, he thinks it is a womans watch and he can't wear it, if I'm interested I might aswell have it, he'll bring it in tomorrow... Well, tomorrow is today and today he walks in and hands me a watch on a stretched out bracelet that is only attached at one side of the case, the bracelet has come off the 6 o-clock end-link. I take the small stainless steel time piece in my hands and give it a quick once over and say "This is worthless, likely fake, let me throw it away for you" Okay, I'm kidding. After looking at it quickly, the watch appears to be a cir.1960's Tudor, Prince Date, automatic. it also has a dial that I have never seen before, a white dial with both 12h and 24h printed indicators, the inner 24h markers are red. I'm not really a Rolex/Tudor guy and know very little about vintage peices from this manufacturer... that's where I hope some of the experts on this forum will really come in handy... This is the watch, on brown leather, his is on a bracelet, I'll get the bracelet model later, when I have access to the watch. I could see that the movement appeard to be running, just from transport so no issue there. I unscrewed the crown and slowly proceded to wind the watch, being careful to feel for resistance or any obvious problems. The winding was vey smooth so I continued to wind the watch to give the movement a good charge; I am hoping to assess accuracy and approximate power reserve over the next little while. I pulled the crown out one position, this is the time change as I dont believe this watch has a quick set date, I carefully started to move the hands through 24+ hours, the date change was good, ~12:00 and most importantly, it worked. I set the time and put the watch aside until I have time to work with it some more (photograph it). I plan to update this post with pictures of the watch as soon as I get a chance to photograph it, I am busy for the next few days but should get a chace to work with it soon. Why then am I telling you guys this? 1. I thought it was a cool story, sometimes neat things happen and it doesn't always involve someone saying "Hey buddy, nice watch" which by the way, never happens. 2. I am hoping that some of the Rolex/Tudor Afficionados on this forum will be able to enlighten me about this piece, I'm sure there is more to know than google can share, as it is predominantly ebay sales listings for other Tudor Prince Date pieces. Oh, I almost forgot to mention 3. He would like me to sell this watch for him... it may end up available in the sales section here, this thread should make for a nice preview and introduction into this watch that might be just what someone is looking for. I hope to update you all soon with lots of detailed pictures of this watch, until then, talk amongst yourselves and please, if anyone has anything to share on this peice, I am all ears.
  24. Just got wind of this last night so I'm really late to the party but wondered if anyone had seen this and what your thoughts are on it, looks bloody awesome to me and having a couple of Steinhart in the box already I know the brand is great quality for the price too The run is sold out as of now but I've managed to get my name down in case anyone 'flakes' on the deal What do you think............ http://forums.watchuseek.com/f275/steinhart-aramar-arctic-ocean-802735.html http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&drKey=242&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.watchuseek.com%2Ff275%2Fsteinhart-aramar-arctic-ocean-802735.html&v=1&libid=1363782441189&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aramar.nl%2Findex.php%3Fitem%3D%26action%3Darticle%26group_id%3D35%26aid%3D515%26lang%3DEN&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.watchuseek.com%2Ff275%2Fsteinhart-aramar-arctic-ocean-802735-7.html&title=Steinhart%20by%20Aramar%20Arctic%20Ocean&txt=Steinhart%20by%20Aramar%20Arctic%20Ocean&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13637829651063
