I'm just starting phase 2 so I'm about 1/3 of the way done and I've noticed results. Its really a great program and I was just wondering if anyone else on here has done it or is doing it, and whether or not they've got tips or tricks. To start off I found one trick recently while reading the health section on yahoo.com did you know Skim Milk has nearly the same carb to protein ratio as a whey protein shake? If your looking to save money on protein shakes look no further then the milk aisle!

Milk isn't nearly the same as whey. It's mostly casein which is slowly digested and absorbed. Higher fat content. A whey isolate will actually have zero carbs usually. In 30 grams, mixed with 8oz water, you'll have 27g of protein, 0 carbs, 0 fat, 110 calories.

Contrast that with skim milk. A pint and a half (3 cups/24 oz) will give you 24g of protein (mostly casein), 270 calories, and 39 grams of carbs. If it's 2% milk you'll have 390 calories, 15g of fat, 39g of carbs to get that same 24g of protein.

Not to mention whey is cheap at only $0.52 a serving. At $4 a gallon, drinking 3 cups of milk will cost $0.75.

I personally use trueprotein.com because I can choose exactly what goes into it (right down to the sweetener!). I also add the vitamin pack and the aminogen (protein digesting enzymes). Skip the free flavors because they suck!

I am a strength and conditioning specialist and I can say the P90X program works. it is not easy. it works because it keeps you moving and the workouts varyso the body never really adapts. if you've been sedentary for a while start off slow

Hey, I lost about 25lbs in 6 weeks doing p90X. I also dropped about 5% body fat. It was intense. Problem is, I broke a small bone in my foot which has kept me from progressing further into the program. I think I landed wrong during one of the plyo sets. I'm going to try again in about 3 weeks.

Plyo kicked my ass! I took your advice and got some whey protein today so hopefully I'll get that six pack that i've always wanted. If anyone needs the program I have it formatted for my ipod and I have no problem uploading it to rapidshare or something similar...let me know if anyone's interested!

I think I actually had all the DVD's stored somewhere as I was planning on having a closer look at the program. Can't seem to find them now, so feel free to shoot me a PM about the ipod files, benew0.

Really need to get started on something now, so this might be the solution. The only thing I remember is that it looks like a rather complicated program with a lot of different workouts?

I agree too.

However, if people are self-motivated enough to stick with it....6 to 8 hours of intense exercise a week is going to produce some results.

I just don't think I could do an hour long workout of pushups. I'd much rather hit the bench for 5 sets. So this isn't for me, but for those that like working out to a video I can see it giving results (just because like I said 6 to 8 hours of working out has to do something).

The thing I don't agree with is the ankle weights. That adds unneeded torque to your joints.

The whole thing is about 4gb including all the videos in mp4 format (which works well on iPods and Blackberrys) and the workout guides/calendars. I got it originally from a torrent on mininova.org but if its easier for people to get it via rapidshare or similar I wouldn't mind uploading it.

I tried the ab routine yesterday because I HATE doing ab work. Seriously, I'd bet it's been 10 years since I've done a sit-up or crunch. LOL.

I made it about 5 minutes into it. I couldn't get past the scissors. I didn't feel it in my abs, but my hip flexors were burning. They're sore today.

Hah "crunchy frog" and the one where you push your legs up in the air always hit my abs. I HATE the one where you climb your legs cause I just don't have that flexibility.

No snake oil involved with P90X. Have a few friends who spend thousands on personal trainers and none have seen the results that I have seen in the same amount of time. Yes thousands. $100 plus per session at some of the best gyms. Sure they look better then before, but they have spent thousands, I spent $100. Over the last six months they say "gee dude you look good", then they get [censored] when their wives comment.

P90X works because of a few reasons. Muscle confusion, which is not a new concept, but not followed by most. A good exercise program that focuses on balance which reduces injuries and builds the core which in turn allows for more fat burning, again ignored by most. A balanced diet.

If you want to keep bench pressing, go for it.

Given, as mentioned by others above, you need to be self motivated. You also need to handle the intensity of the program, or take it slowly. I hurt myself and can't keep up anymore. Although I'm sure I'll be able to start again shortly. I can't wait.

Fancy marketing and buzzwords aside, it works because it's 7 hours of intense exercise a week. The intensity is basically combining aerobic and anaerobic exercise (just like circuit training). A few cycles of this are going to burn a lot of fat and build some muscle, but there's going to be a point where bodyweight exercises aren't going to be building anymore muscle because more resistance is needed. "Muscle confusion" is great, but this is only going to work for so long until your body adapts and gets closer to it's final potential on it. I'm sure after 3 years on this you'd look the same after 2 years on this.

Also I really didn't get the "build the core for more fat burning" line. You can really only burn fat one way. Expend more calories than you consume. Granted, each new pound of muscle burns about 35 calories a day (of course, a lb of muscle actually only burns 6 to 7 calories a day). So yes, adding muscle will help use more calories, but nothing specific about "core" muscles that makes you burn fat.

So it really depends on goals. If you want to be a fit guy this sounds great. But I always wanted to be one of those squat 500 lbs and benchpress a car kind of guys.

I might try the plyometrics disc too. After all, who doesn't want to run around like Jason Statham? And if there's anything the ab workout has showed me is that there are a few muscles I neglect (abs/hip flexors).

This is not the case with the upper body exercises on the program. You should be adding adding/increasing weights, and your choice 8-10 or 12-15 reps for different results.

Also, it is meant as a 90 program unless you combine P90X lean + P90X classic + P90XPlus. 270 days max, then move on to something else.

I do agree, without the proper diet, YMMV.

I haven't seen all of it. I just previewed the chest/back program. Looked like endless types of pushups/pullups and band work. But as long as there's some sort of progression of overload that's good.

Ok sorry for the wait but I've zipped the folders and they are 4gb total which means I need to find an uploading service which would allow this big o f a file size. Everything I have found thus far is 200 mb limit. Any suggestions?

First of all, thank you for taking your time to share this with the rest of us :)

Rapidshare is the best way to store and share such large files. You just need to create a split archive of the folder. Try WinRar. Instead of having one zip file of 4GB, you should end up with 20files of 200MB each. Most high definition content is trafficked this way. Hope that helps.
