Stebbi
Right guys, Im about to buy the white faced SOSF from Josh http://www.jpc8118.com/bl10002-superocean-steelfish-white-asia-2813-p-2567.html Josh replied to a previous email informing me that the only difference between this watch and the normal $300+ version is the movement and the crystal from what i've read the 2813 movement seems ok and should be fine for the future. unless you guys think otherwise? Lani informed me that the lack of AR shouldnt be too bad on the White face but will the crystal itself let the watch down as it is a 'synthetic crystal' What does 'Synthetic Crystal' mean? and what is the impact of this? If you can wait till tomorrow I can do side by side pics with the AR'd (factory) and the "lite" version.. the dial is identical and you can judge for yourself.. Ronin
If you are trying to pass it off as a SuperRep or plausible Gen from across the room-- then you will be disappointed with the 21J and synth-crystal IMHO. If you just want a fun, inexpensive watch and are not out to fool anyone, then it is a value. Although the movement itself is fine, and easily R&R'd if there is a problem, the notchier sweep might bug you. Also, the lesser quality crystal won't 'pop'. Here is a shot of my Swiss-Fish with the better sapphire crystal with AR. Here is a white dial watch with a Synthethic crystal. (Note: less 'pop' and will look cloudy from the side) HTH
Stebbi
Cheers for the comparisons Ronin, I'm hoping however that because the crystal on the steel fish is smaller than the other watch you posted it will be less noticable. And thanks Lani I'll wait for the pics, fingers crossed there isn't too much of a difference as it was your pics to start with that got me liking this! FxrAndy
I would say that with a watch as good as the steel fish it is a shame NOT to get the best version, it is astonishing how good this watch is!
Stebbi
I get what you mean but atm I can't justify double the price of the 'lite' version. Over the next year or so I'm hoping to get a few more reps so with this as a starter as such I'll probs move onto more expensive ones. But I think atm this one is right for me
Toadtorrent
As a starter rep with low cost impact...the lite with white dial is great. If you are unfamiliar with watches with high end anti-reflective coatings, you will not be disappointed. The more and more time you spend on this forum, you will find many folks (myself ABSOLUTELY included) and perhaps yourself in time as well, obsess over little details that are pitched as HUGE flaws that 99% of the general population would have no idea to which you refer.
