Music Lovers - What are you listening to right now?

Recommended Posts

I have a huge collection of vynil (I started in the early 70's) but I listen to them less and less... Today I listen mainly to CDs via DVD player/ Amp/ Speakers... (small size bookshelf...) I've been the "Stanton-Thorens-Marantz-AR" geek but no more...

When I have some new name/album to check I look for help on YouTube... then if the album is good I buy the CD on eBay (often at a very low cost...)

Ah, welcome to the thread Bart, I’m sure we have enough music heads to keep this thread running and running. You should do a write up on your HiFi as well, I love to read stuff like that.

Thanks mate, it's not my first contribution in this thread ;)

As a vinyl collector i have about 3000 33rpm and 500 45rpm, Funk, Disco, Blaxploition, OST, Library, essentially groovy sounds.

And as for Rolex I'm a vintage HiFi afficionado, Sony PS-X60 turntable, Sansui AU-517 and Sansui AU-555a integrated amps, Pioneer HPM-100 and Cabasse Galiote speakers, Sony CDP-17F CD player.

Tonight something a little different, for Sogeha's sake.  Beautiful vocals!

As gorgeous as her voice is, she can't hold a candle to Loreena McKennitt....

Where are you located? I have some very good friends in Bundoran Co. Donegal

Here they are...

Bundoran is the edge of the world. It is about an hour and a half from me or 90km. Ballyshannon where that performance was recorded is a little bit nearer and is of course The Home Town, as it was Rory Gallagher’s home Town and is still very proud of him. I know both places well, but haven’t been in a while.

Curious side note is that Rory Gallagher very nearly became a guitarist with the Stones.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

beware the Jubjub bird, and shun

the Frumious Bandersnatch”.

Why the hell I had to learn that at school still escapes me!

Johnny is a great fan of Rory Gallagher...

I've been in Ballyshannon with them (the Boxtie)... great gig in the small and beautiful Fin Mc Cool's...

Here is a pic of me with Barry Britton (Rossnowlagh' artist and surfer) and his brother in the Pub (mmmhh... 15 years ago?)

Slainte!

Enjoying the craic,

Fifteen years is a long time, high time you visited us again mo chara.

Ha! I wish I could learn more Gaelic... but not even them use that lovely language...

(For those who are guessing... Mo chara = My friend... Craic = Entertainment/Show... Slainte = Cheers while drinking)

Speaking of Irish music and craic...(although the origin of the song is Canadian)

One out of three, need more field work.  Sláinte actually means Health and is used in the sense of drinking to the others health. The English “cheers” really means “thank you” as in thanks for buying the drink, though informally it can be used as thank you for other things between friends. It is often followed by “good health”. Craic really means fun and is often used as a greeting “How’s the craic”. A good answer is “Divil a bit” meaning “not much”. It’s sometimes amusing when asked of English speaking foreigners, since craic is pronounced crack, so “How’s the crack, love?”?

Yes not many Irish are fluent, most adults were totally put off it at school, but the current children, mine included speak it reasonably well. I know bits and bats, but I’m only a Plastic Paddy, being born in England and having more than one nationality.

When I moved here I rigged up a music server in the kitchen and tend to just leave it running. The kitchen is kind of out on a limb and away from the rest of the house. I just went in to have some tea, as I walked in HIM - Vampire Heart.

Then

2cellos are a couple of guys from Serbia and not only fun to listen to and watch, but very talented musicians. I’ve seen them live and highly recommend the experience

As I left the kitchen, St James Infirmary was playing

And just because...
