jmb Posted May 6, 2010 Report Share Posted May 6, 2010 If you are trying to change insert, and maybe want to save the old one, just warm it up (not hot) with a heat gun or hair dryer and that will loosen the glue and you should then be able to carefully pry it off with an Xacto knife or similar... Another alternative is- http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=47 The next step up is to try a case back tool- http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=179 or http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=180 and when all else fails you can use the correct tool for the job- http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=182 In each instance care must be taken not to damage either the case or bezel. Both are authorities on the DSSD and gioarmani has written the book on modding the DSSD. I'm sure he'll be able to tell you what product he uses. I used LocTite's Stik n Seal waterproof adhesive on my bezel after the chemical in Cape Cod polishing cloth dissolved the bezel insert glue completely. It has a long wet working time but like any "rubber glue" be careful of the imperceptible threads of glue which form when you draw off a bead of it. This repair is a month old and is rock solid, but I can't guarantee permanence. (yet) As for removing this "ceramic" style bezel, most people here who do it first soften the glue with a heat source (hair dryer) and then gently prise it up with a hooked metal wire thru the pearl hole.
