donerix
I always wanted to have one and finally i ordered one to try it out. Inspiration came from this: I received this: I really didn't like it a lot, too shiny, too new, too cheap looking. So I took it apart, replaced the horrible mineral crystal for a domed plexi, aged the hands, matt-coated the dial, smoked the inner rotating bezel, rounded of the case a bit more, sanded sown the caseback, blackened the groves on the bezel (would love to ship it to have it DLC'ed) and mounted a vintage leather strap (that I borrowed from my GF's watch)... Now it looks like that: What do you think (I know it's pure fantasy)?

McRae
Huh? How did they manage the date, is it quartz? Thought this setup wasn't possible with mechanical movement (exept gen, ofcourse), intrigued!
donerix
It has a cheapo 21j automatic movement in it (it has two different date windows (one at 6 and one at 4)
hackR
man...that looks great D... gives me an idea for my old skool lemania/venus Chrono-matic (which doesn't have the date)... where did you source the plexi-crystal?...i like the way it looks in that piece... donerix
I am not sure where I git the plexi from (it was floating in my parts box), but if you want I can measure it. I think I bought it from a big crystal supplier when I ordered a bunch to play around with for my vintage Panerai builds....

Thought this setup wasn't possible with mechanical movement (exept gen, ofcourse), intrigued! Why should that be impossible? Poljot 3133 has the same layout and is mechanical..
