What did I do wrong?

Hi there,

Begging for your help again...

I've just replaced the DW on a PAM243/A7750. It was the 1st time and thanks to the great tutorial I foud here, everything went ok.

Unfortunately, while mounting the movement back into the case, a jewel fell of. I don't think it's my fault, as I've just unscrewed 2 screws inside the movement, lift a plate and put it back, everything very carefully.

The watch worked for 10 secondes and is now dead... :black_eye:

Can I fix this alone? Is the movement definitely dead, or some modders here can resucitate it? :D

Thanks again for your help and advices.

Hummm...And does it explain why the movement stopped working?

Yep, imagine taking one of the main crank bearings out of your car engine, how do you rhink it will run, have you still got the thing apart?

I have replaced the cup on the balance wheel and then the jewel on it, on the regulator side, but I have lost the brass clip :black_eye:

You were right, the balance wheel works much better with the jewel, lol

I have several ETA2836 and an A7750, do you think I can get the brass clip from one these movements to replace it?

Thanks so much for your help, you're awesome!

Man, I feel a bit stupid, I think I the brass clip is still there, it is just open...

Can you please have a look at the pics? What do I have to do now? :whistling:

First time I am brave enough to play with movements! That's not easy but really really interesting! I have learnt a lot today thank to you.

the clip folds over the bearing and then the ends clip in under the grove on the other side, make sure that the cap jewel has the domed side out ward and that the whole thing is spotless clean, also you should put a small dab of mobius 9010 in the center inside of the cap jewel

Ditto.

After replacing the (clean/oiled - the oil should cover roughly 1/3 of the surface & placed in the center of the flat side) jewel

gently fold the spring down over the top of the setting & use an oiler, small tweezers or pin to gently compress 1 leg of the spring while sliding the leg down under the ridge below the face of the setting to lock it in place. Then, repeat for the other leg.

This is a different type of shock spring, but this pic shows how the ends fit into the ridge just below the face of the shock mount

Thank you both for your help, I really appreciate it!

It's my first time, and it's really difficult. I have the tools but not the skills!

More questions:

-I don't have oil, is it a problem?

-to be sure: the jewel cup is put on the balance wheel axis, there is a little hole in the cup, do I have to put the axis inside? The domed/convexe part of the cup is looking to the floor, the concave side upside, right? The jewel is flat, I put it into the cup and then close the brass clip...

Am I right?

Can I use Rodico to keep the parts from flying over the room when putting them together?

Sorry, I know it's a simple thing for you but not for me!
