I was thinking about purchasing one for my father's birthday (a 6265 or 6263), but the conflict I have is he has a rather large wrist and usually wears watches in the 42-45mm range. These watches are on the small side, the vintage Paul Newman Daytonas measure about 37mm. Since the bezel takes up some space, the dial is quite small, which makes it look smaller on the wrist than even the 37mm would suggest. You can always wear it on a Bund strap like Paul Newman did and this will more than make up the difference. I like the fact that these are tool watches first. Period. thogaa Posted December 28, 2011 Report Share Posted December 28, 2011 This one fooled me. I noticed the lower sub dial wasn't bleeding into the minutes and correct spacing between the top ones. It's hard to tell that the lower subdial is actually slightly smaller. Still don't get why they just move the lower hand and make the dials like gen. jellytots Posted December 29, 2011 Report Share Posted December 29, 2011 Maybe it's got to do with being able to sell more if 'improvements' are released in stages rather than coming out with the 'ultimate' on the first try. Kind of like software? - planned obsolescence - they earn more by slowly releasing v1, v2, etc than giving you that ultimate v20 straightway.
