jdavis Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I have a Miyota 21J movement that was removed from an older replica. The movement looks and runs good. I have little knowledge of this Japanese movement. I am considering saving it for some future project watch. Is this a movement worth saving or is it an unreliable throw away?
Category 5 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 In my experience Miyota makes a fantastic movement. I have a Miyota rep that's about 10 years old. The movement has never been service or regulated and is still within 10 seconds per day.
alligoat Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Ziggyzumba also speaks highly of the Miyota 21j movement. You could use it as a dependable replacement for an asian 21j, for example, in another rep watch.
crystalcranium Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Ziggyzumba also speaks highly of the Miyota 21j movement. You could use it as a dependable replacement for an asian 21j, for example, in another rep watch. And the hands from an asian 21j are interchangeable with a Miyota. Save the datewheel overlay from the asian 21 though. The Miyota wheel is the wrong font and rarely lines up. Only drawback is it's non-hacking.
2005SUBMARINER Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 i installed a new miyota 21j mvt on my asian PO works excellent BUT ! it has a very choppy sweep if you can live with that then miyota will last you a very long time !!

Pugwash Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 5 clicks/sec vs 8 clicks in a 28,000 bph 21,600 is 6 clicks a second. 28,800 is 8. 5 clicks a second is 18,000 bph
jdavis Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 Thanks for the information guys. I am glad to know that it isn't a POS movement. I will be putting the Miyota up for future use for a replacement movement or a project watch.
