IWC_p
In regards to the infamous IWC Portuguese 3714 chrono, does anyone know if it's possible to simply remove the gears associated with the sec@6 dial (obviously rendering the sec dial useless), and still have the rest of the movement function properly? FxrAndy
Yes it would be possible
ogladio
Know I've seen people do this in the past, just can't think of their names now, sorry... Without the additional power transfer to the subdial at six, the movement should be a standard a7750 with good reliability when serviced. Is the "new improved" 29j A7750 any better then the earlier movement? Or does it still have the seconds @ 6 issue?

From what I have gathered, the secs@6 problem remains with the 'new improved' 29j.
ogladio
I've owned two 29j's - one died within a couple of weeks (on a winder though) and the other one has been serving me for over a year. It's a tricky piece to build it seems, with a couple of steel-on-steel spots sensitive to the slightest increase of friction...
FDG
It's possible an quite easy to do. Done it many times. It actually isn't really obvious on the wrist, that the seconds hand is not moving.
