I am waiting for my new winter boots from Meindl. German engineered top quality.

Only heard good things. Might not be city dweller boots but..

For the true Gentlemen who requires both style and practicality. Hand made in the Loake factory in Northampton over an 8 week period, with layers of protective wax applied for waterproofing. Fully leather lined for non smelly feet and a fully welted Goodyear rubber sole. Yes I'm afraid they are £200.00 however you have them for life

I try to keep my shoes below $1000 (yes yes yes, just like watches these are moving targets.. :bangin: )

Before dropping couple of hundreds on these, check out the 'last' the shoe's built on for proper fit. Visit your nearest AD for this :)

Based on my personal experience:

1. Carmina FTW - Fortunate to have some shells from them (two of 'em boots) and I can't stop buying em. Tried them on a trip to the EU once--built like a tank.

2. Alden a close second. Fortunate to have 4 pairs of their shells.

3. Allen Edmonds -- Fortunate to have 2 pairs of these

I tried Edward Green too, they look wonderful, but their RTW lasts are too narrow for me duck feet.

Gaziano and Girling feels overpriced to me for what you get, but some folks like it.

Some people swear by Vass, but I just didn't get a chance to try them out IRL.
