What's the line from "Men In Black"'?

"As of this moment your skills mean precisely ... dick."

Cask strength? Speyside? Islay? :huh:

All I know is it's wet, it's brown, it comes in a bottle, and it's tasty.

With my South African neighbor I've sampled a $500 bottle and a $25 bottle. I can tell them apart - barely.

Refined palate? Not so much. :rofl:

It takes time. Just like to a rando nub any watch looks like any other. A $20 quartz rolex rep would look like the real thing to some people. Some of us have reps and gens and like everything about watches and know more about watches than the majority of the population. Same with scotch, wine, etc... Just different interests and hobbies.

I just added some bottles to my cabinet:
balvenie double wood - really sweet and smoky

te bheag - peaty but kinda missing something

lagavulin 16 - amazing

 

To be added:

laprochaig quarter cask.
 

Also, a bit of a rant: the canadian government monopoly on alcohol is awful. I paid 30 more dollars for balvenie double wood here vs miami.

In my drinking days I loved a good 50 year old single malt whiskey. The brand is non importanto.,

Just those prerequisites and it's always delicious!

I second this. However haven't had the pleasure of indulging too often. Maybe that's why it will always hold it's place.

Macallan 18 has become my staple. Not the Fine Oak crap. The original. But this time of year I like to have a Lagavulin, Talisker, and Ardbeg on hand. Highland Park 18 is also never in short supply if I can help it. And I've always got a desert whisky to share with the non-whisky drinking guests ... Right now a Jura.

Serious Scotch drinker there. I have my fave Macallan 18.
