Hey All, Happy Thanksgiving! I am closing in on my next rep purchase..currently looking at a Rolex 1680 Red Sub from Trusty. Link Here:

I have analyzed it and was wondering, since 99.99 % of you have more knowledge than I do in this area, I was hoping you all could critic the flaws so I know what I am getting myself into...

That's a beauty but it has notoriously stubby crown guards. The trick is to thin the crown to give it the profile of a 702. Then you'll have a beautiful starter Sub. A few guys here have written about the process.

Thanks Nanuq, Yeah thats what I thought, thought the crown guard were too stubby. I will have to look into how to think the crown guards. I'll try to find how to do this

Nope you don't want to thin the crown guards ... thin the crown so it makes the stubby crown guards look more normal. Here's what it looks like with a thin 702 vintage crown, it makes them look pretty normal.

Hi,

I've purchased mine from Josh. The watch is very impressive except the same flaw with the crown.

By cons, something else is wrong between lugs. It has a bad stamping (5513)

I had asked to Andrew (I just received an Explo II White face from him) before to buy my 1680 red and he had answered me that he did not know what was engraved between lugs !! :g:

Some of us don't care but that bothers me !!

PS : I can't copy and past the link where I've posted my review. Is there anybody could explain to me why ?

When I change the BBcode mode, I can stick my link, but I lose all others options. All is grayed !

I have to change every time, for example if I want to write in bold or put an emoticon and so on...

If someone can explain what I do wrong, thanks in advance.

So there is the link

I am wondering if I can take the case and crown of this version above, and combine it with the bezel, crystal dial, bracelet and etc of the one we are discussing: http://www.ttw888.co...roducts_id=7091

Is this possible??? I am guessing the longer and more pointed crown guards and crown of the first model will really add to the Gen look. ....
