Oh-oh... I may have found my definitive Pilot Chrono...

IWC Pilot St. Exupery chrono, brown dial special edition 2006.

It may be an old model but I'm not that kind of guy that runs behind the latest new models, providing old models are appealing.

It has seconds @9 so it shouldn't have the well known problems of the Portuguese with secs @6.

Moreover I simply LOVE its look

It's a 42mm, not a "beast" like the 47 big pilot, and for me it's the perfect measure as I'm not a fan of the oversized watches.

Did you know about this model, also compared to the rep (2nd picture)? It looks pretty much ok to me (the rep looks darker but it's normal with that poor light)....

Looks very good. I see: the rep fonts are too bold, the frame of the rep hands aren't so much embossed, what about the colour of the chromo seconds hand? Should it be white or metal? The small misalignment of the day date wheel can be corrected. And I hope the "Antoine-A" is embossed enough to be close to the gen... Change the crown to gen Pilot chrono crown (costs about 30-40$). Any pics of the case back?

The gen & rep backs:

Seconds' hand is metal in both gen&ori

A closer look to the "A." of the rep, not painted but applied and shiny chromed:

I've noticed the bold brand fonts, but I can survive it :-)

Cheers!

I had the RG Exupery from M2M (sold it because couldnt pull off the RG watch at the end). Dont know if all in the market are from the same batch or some of these are re-released.

In my personal experience AR was too blue/violet (so You will need additional AR treatment) and the subdails were just too shiny and busy under the artificial lightening, at natural daylight it was quite OK. Caseback - I wouldnt care about that one much ;)

Anyway it's a nice watch and brown dial is way more appealing than plain black of 3717 ;)

Anyway - I would go for it ;)

Very very nice. I may have seen the m2m transaction, if you've done it here (is it the Zigmeister serviced one?) reading the past messages.

I'm not that much in favor of the plated ones, not because I don't like them, but because I'm a bit worried of the wearing... What's your experience with it?
