r11co
Doc has been pivotal in assisting Jay with the development of this watch, with myself throwing in some support in the background for good measure. That is why we both feel the disappointment more than most. I think this release underlines how much we don't know about what is going on in the rep watch making industry. The problem of course will be that all we can do is fill in the blanks with speculation. This watch is obviously the best PO Silix have available to them and have been selling for a while, with two parts changed. In that sense it is no different to the cartel version (ie. minimal development work went into their CR SE version) and when it hit the market I said at the time I reckoned it was a rush job to co-incide with the worldwide publicity surrounding the DVD release of the movie. I suspect that this is a similar rush job in order to offer a competing product to the cartel.
watchman12345
To be frank the "cartel" version is better.
r11co
To be frank, neither is particularly good - both are a step back from the base watch in terms of authenticity.
docblackrock
Although the two SE parts of the cartel do look decent, however I wonder if those parts will be available? Not holding my breath

I agree, call me cinical but it's almost as if they "threw in" the "water resistance testing" to make up for other deficiencies in the watch and make you feel like your gettinga little "extra" for your money. For your info, Jay bought a Bergeon tester specifically to test watches which he commissions from now on. I think we should be less harsh with him in this respect, cos he has only just begun commissioning watches, like what RT mentioned earlier. Apart from this flawed CR, Jay has always been great. I'm sure a revision of this model is already in the works...

Good for you, dude! Do us a great review as well... Btw, Jay has also mentioned that the water resistance of this CR will be tested up to 10bars, if possible... Yes, they told me the same about their water-resistance testing, and they've always been honest with me in all my dealings with them

I think maybe you misunderstand me, I have absolutely nothing against Jay & Angel, I have bought a few watches from them and I can't praise their service highly enough. I am merely saying that for $150 you can buy Jay's equivalent of a UPO (he calls it the Latest Version) or you can pay an extra $50 and get a different caseback, a different second hand and water resistance. IMHO, the CR PO being offered by Silix and the "cartel" is not as good as we had all hoped, especially as the UPO has evolved into such a fantastic and popular rep... Dude, I never mentioned that I misunderstood you, merely stating my opinion too, just like you... And I agree too, that this version of the CR is aesthetically not good enough. The part about being harsh was said in general terms... Cheers!
