cmr15 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 Hi together, i have a little problem with a 5513 Case with Pointed Crownguards which i got from Phong and the Tonny 5513 Dial. The Dial is 26,0 mm in diameter and the rehaut opening is 26,2mm... So there is a gap of 0,1 mm, which doesn t look right for me. Phong says that the dial does not lay under the rehaut like on other rolex cases but must be inside the ring, is that correct for 5513 pcg? But I'm probably wrong because why would the inside be off where there is no hand shaping? The early ('60-61) PCG 5512's had some dial gaps because (as the theory goes), they were made to accommodate the leftover 5510 dials which were 27mm. Then the 26mm 5512 dials were installed in some of these resulting in dial gaps. I don't believe any early 5513's were made with wider rehaut apertures. So there is a gap of 0.1 mm, which doesn't look right for me." I remember reading somewhere that the dial window opening on the PCG 5513 was oversize and the edge of the dial showed through. I looked in my 'favorites' and could not find it though. It might have been on VRF, not sure. Phong is probably right on this but it needs some research before sending the case back. Dbane is correct afaik. 5510 is 27mm. 5512 & 5513 is 26.05mm As dbane said, early 5512 were designed for larger diameter dials (27mm). I'm currently gathering info as well on the cases as I'm looking for a nice franken build. Here some photos I found on VRF. I assume the "fake" case is Phong's, correct me if I'm wrong. philwongnz Posted September 29, 2016 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 I can understand measuring the inside of the case is a good way to assess the difference, but the outside will not be right as the gen has been worn and might be polished. The lugs are quite thin and the CG has definitely been thinned out due to wear and maybe polishing.
