automatico
Rolex 5500 AK with case dated III 68... Cleaned/oiled/mainspring/case tube/crystal/blued steel SS hand/gaskets/ZRC strap, finished 5-23-23. No case corrosion...it is getting hard to find a 50+ year old steel Rolex watch case with no corrosion. Dial and hands are in first class condition. Crystal is a GS PA 459-37 (generic Tropic 11), case tube, ZRC strap, and oem spec spring bars from ST, Blued SS hand from S. LaRose years ago...SS hand has pointed tip on short end to match pointed tips of H and M hands. Aftmkt steel buckle. Movement is a 26 jewel 'hack' 1520 in excellent condition. It has a date type canon pinion and hour wheel with the calendar drive gear removed. Why? To give more space between hands and dial. The short no date CP and H wheel mount the hands close to the dial and the date type CP and H wheel combo mounts them about .5mm higher. The domed crystal gives plenty of room for the hands to mount higher. Later in the day... f333 and jackflash: Thanks!

I did purchase a few Tudors from their other branch, and had a casual relationship with the previous manager... I stopped in every few months for a visit. I did get the call for the latest Seadweller , but I declined as it's just too heavy for me to be comfortable and I'm sizing down for the past few years. Anyway, it's a great and stealthy piece... just how I like them these days!

The reason I ask is because there may soon be a class action suit brought against those who participated in this type of 'business'.

I wanted them, but I'll take the money! 😁

automatico
"Shooting that watch against that background absolutely nails it! Well done." Thanks! A lucky shot. I do not know which I am worse at...watch 'mechanic' or 'photographer'. Probably a tie. Ha! Also, thanks to Tribal and swdivad! Today's shot in the dark...A Family Reunion. I ran across these when looking for the nos 'River' SDs' posted in the Rolex section today. Six NOS Fortis 40mm Spacematics with b/p, leftovers from the watch store: All have 'see through' case backs, and kept two solid backs if someone wanted one. All have ETA 2836, sapphire crystals, screw down crowns/case backs, and WR to 200M. The box pictured is not an original Fortis box, they are stored elsewhere. Spacematic history: Key Milestones | FORTIS Watches AG (fortis-swiss.com) Ratty pic of a manual wind Fortis from the 1940/50: Original with stainless 32mm steel snapback case, 17 jewel movement (iirc on 17j), radium (!) markers. All pics taken 10-21-23. Solid case backs on eBay: Item 184939962827 (!!) NOS SDs: Back In Time...older style SDs with ETA movements. - The Rolex Area - RWG 1

automatico
Manual wind TIMEX from 1969... Still runs and keeps time. Waterproof? Not now for sure and probably not very much back then. Numbers at bottom of dial: 20242469 What do they mean? Here is the answer: The Unofficial Guide to Vintage Timex Watches (watchesyoucanafford.com) Still sporting a cheapo 'scissor' type bracelet from the same era... Diver Down! Just not very deep. Made in 1970s, still runs. Base metal case with steel back, rotating bezel. Pics taken Nov, 20, 2023
Boom rider
Here are two of mine, a Christopher Ward Trident 300 and a Deep Blue. Both picked up off UK ebay . The Deep Blue is a micro brand made in the USA with a Seiko movement . The Christopher Ward is British design with Swiss movement.
