HaydenM Posted May 15, 2017 Report Share Posted May 15, 2017 Hi all, Today I ended up pulling out a long since worn cartel 1675 and have decided that there's no point in leaving a decent potential sitting about unworn due to the qualms I currently have with it. So I've done some rough research and essentially the two most urgent issues I would like to fix are the crystal (in particular the cyclops as it distorts crazily currently) and the bezel mechanism (which currently is ridiculously loose and doesn't much allow the insert to be positioned reliably). To solve the crystal I've heard of many replacing it with a clark's crystal but I am unsure as to which crystal would be used for a cartel 1675 and for the bezel mechanism I am wondering if any fix is even possible. Eventually no doubt I'll end up modifying it in other ways but these are the most urgent ease of use modifications and any advice from those on the board who know far more about 1675s would be incredibly appreciated. Good luck, I love my 1675 Current update, I've ordered s 116 Clark and found that in a weird design there is a friction ring and I've got it working better. ceejay Posted May 15, 2017 Report Share Posted May 15, 2017 Good stuff To remove the crystal you have to lift the retaining ring. I used a thin, sharp blade (Stanley) gradually working it underneath the retaining ring between the case. Take it slow and rotate it just edging it up gradually until the retaining ring pops off. Then you can just work the crystal off the case with the blade or press it out with your thumb (if you have the movement removed) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Finally got the crystal replaced, the GMT hand realigned and now the bezel insert lightly aged (just black for the moment, will try to age a pepsi tomorrow if I have sunlight).
