tonyp1
This 1680 has a large crown very similar in size to the reps sold years back.. Is this just the incorrect crown? This dealer is selling several gen vintage rolex in the $20,000+ range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

tonyp1
Ok but what about the large crown? Did some early 1680s have larger crowns than later models? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Nanuq
An early 1680 should have the 702 crown like this (sorry for the dent), it's visually narrower than the 703 crown that came on later models. Even so, a 703 won't look nearly as big as what's in your photos.
automatico
Here is one like it, item number 111812 on Bob's Watches... https://www.bobswatches.com/vintage-rolex-submariner-ref-1680-black.html Otoh it looks just like the crown on my Abay 1680. Ha!
alligoat
Not only does the crown look too big, the crown guards are too short and stubby. Bob's watch looks fine if you look at the second picture- crown is ok and cgs are correct. First pic is screwed up- don't know why. Also one of Bob's other pics from the side shows the correct cg droop- this is a tell on 1680 cases. The dial on the OPs 1680 looks ok, but I'm not sure about the cgs and crown
