Hi friends, I show you this build of a 1665 JKF, the jkf stocks have a really bad structure and a lot of material on the case to be modeled, on the other hand they do not host a dial with exact measurements, there is almost everything to change.

A big job.

Specifications:

Cartel JKF case completely reworked.

Dial brown Vietnam.

Vietnamese ghost insert.

Aged hands 2836-2 relumed

Vietnamese crown.

Stock bracelet.

Spring bars swiss Made.

ETA movement

Good vision

That's a very nice build!

There's a couple of small niggledy details that would help.

One, people like to see the 2846-2 used in these vintage 1680 and 1665 builds since it has a slower beat closer to the Rolex 1575 movement's 19800 bph.

secondly, there's a more correct DWO from a guy in Australia

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ETA-movement-part-date-disc-silver-2824-2836-2893-oyster-date/124164404995?epid=854440495&hash=item1ce8c67703:g:jSAAAOSwQItTy1X8

this one has the flat top 3s and is a good copy of the original used in the 1575 movements in the 70s and early 80s. Of course, as is the case, Rolex did use other DWs, especially when servicing a watch- they don't care because it's still a genuine Rolex part!

Yes it’s hard to tell from the pics, if that’s a silver date wheel it needs flat 3s. If it’s a white datewheel then rounded 3s are okay. It’s hard to see in this pic but this datewheel is silver.

the brown dials always have a limited availability, you can buy them, from the Vietnamese sellers: ruby's, Phong, MQ etc.
Best regards

The tricky thing about tropical dials is, the brown color comes from faded black and it's not consistent across the dial.  Some dials fade more around the perimeter and are darker in the middle, while others are more faded in the middle and around the date window.

I worked on a MQ dial for awhile using shoe polish to try and recreate the "darker in the center" faded look.  It was tricky working around the letters and indexes, and in the end I did not use it.

My pathetic attempt with the MQ dial

Pathetic still looks good I also made a similar effort on 30 dollar raffles dial. Considering the starting state, I say it's wearable. Thoughts? 3f6e1eb00837b2b49590632af35e95cf.jpge9b091c527637893c584f68232dc65fc.jpg
