jetson, did you notice alot of dirt in the silicone? i was amazed how dirty the brake cleaner was. im wondering if its the extra polishing that the bracelet gets, along with the fact that why would they clean it?

I was able to remove most of the grime when it was thoroughly washed in step one. I did see a bit of grit in the silicone which had set at the bottom of the Ziploc.

I solved my bracelet problems gettind the Gen. one .

Just for info the springbars holes are exactly like Gen. in same positions. <_<

Wile.........now my Gen SD is without bracelet................. :bangin:

Wow, that is interresting.

I can't wait to see the SSD in the flesh.

Shoud arrive tomorrow here.

When I removed the bracelet from the genuine, I was very surprised by the quality of the gen end links versus all other rep Rolex bracelets that I have here.

The springbar holes are widder in my opinion.

What year is your Gen Rosnik?

Cheers

Stephane

no, i mean polishing along the entire side of the crystal... not just the part that comes up above the bezel...

notice the opaque clarity on the side?

I'm wondering if polishing it to a CLEAR finish, will the rehaut will shine through better?

I think it's the wrong bracelet on your watch must be a 93160 !

The shape of the SEL's must be flat and signed 592B

Thats the rigght bracelet for a 96 SD!

Man, you want to polish a Safir Glass good luck ; )

As I stated before you cant see the thickness of the rehaut because there is a gap on the bottom of the glass..

The Rehaut is slightly conical but you can't see it when the Glass is installed...

Thats the reason for it...

When the assembyl where more than on a modern MBW with glass with no gap the Rehaut thicknes woulb be more visible..

Do you understand...?

ok, i think i got it...

so, the notch in the crystal is hiding the rehaut... got it.

NOW, i guess if you knew the difference between the rep and gen crystal diameter size... you could know whether or not you could machine the case accordingly?!?! assuming the gen crystal (+ gasket) is larger in diameter... hence, exposing more of the rehaut... also, I'm assuming that the genuine crystal is flat on the sides and not notched like the rep one you have pictured above...

sorry to beat this topic to death but i am just trying to figure out if its worth buying a gen crystal... thanks for your input!!!

The outer diameter is about 29,7 mm inner was about 28,4mm I think....

you must shape out the case with a lathe to right dimension to fit a better glass, then the thickness of the rehaut is visible like gen...

I don't know the dimensions of the Gen SD Glass..

If anybody knows jump in.....

But I think it can be done ;)

You must not look , I know it ;)

93160 is the correct barcelet for the older SD's.

SEL's 592 or 592B there are some differences in the SEL's....

Interesting is,will a 93160 will fit the rep, because there are also differences to the newer 93160A SEL's and bracelet

Indeed again Trib :good:

Mine is a december 2000 watch (P serie from 2000) and has a 93160A.

SEL, flat and no numbers engraved on the end link.

Congrats for your knowledge...crazy to know all these variations.
