rodwc
Some of you guys change your bracelet to a strap, fairly quickly. For whatever reason, comfort, looks , feel etc. ok fine. This is a small improvement to the flip clasp, for those that prefer a bracelet . The back of the flip bears a rather ugly scar from the stamping of the wings logo seen from the front, this isnt there on a gen , as it is a much higher quality product and has a higher degree of finishing. I thought that this mark on the back of the flip was a sure giveaway. With a little bit of time and patience with some medium grade wet or dry,( 180 grit ) finally finishing with 400 grit wet or dry, this mark is quite easily removed, Wrap the sandpaper around a small flat file, ( to keep the flatness on the clasp ) and the finished result looks far more upmarket to the original. Simple straightforward mod.

azerbyjam
Nice one rodwc, I'll try that myself. One question, does the flip clasp come off the bracelet? I see its attached by what appears to be a double ended screw, is that a screw or just some kind of pin that's made to look like a screw?

The flip clasp probably does come off the bracelet, but I couldnt release the 2 screws, and ended up just taking the deployant off , and working on that alone. There isnt much chance of doing any damage , as the flip , swivels.

The Red Baron
Very nicely done! That was one thing that bugged me on my bracelet and didn't think to try that.
abat
I think I'll give this a go on my Steelfish this weekend, then maybe the BCE if it goes well. Thanks.
Dizzy
Excellent little mod!! BUT if you look at a gen bracelet you can still see the stamping on the backside. Some reps are worse than others but its still there on the gen. My boss has a new gen Bentley Flying B and i looked inside the fliplock piece and its no better than my Chrono T motors rep bracelet. I took pics of the watch but not the stamping.. he just sold the watch so i cant get it back for more pics. I am still gunna do this sanding on my Breitling bracelets though. It looks pretty easy to do thanks! dizz
P4GTR
this sounds like a easy and worthwhile mod, thanks for sharing. The buckle/clasp seem thinner and of less quality then the gen. Would you say after sanding, the flip appears even more thin and flimsy? Maybe if you could get a shot of the flip thickness after the mod, that would help. Thanks again, yours looks like it came out great.
kokedose
Thanks rod. Just got mine and i prefer the bracelet also (have tried it on black ali deployment ant brown leather tang). Maybe if you could get a shot of the flip thickness after the mod, that would help. Thanks again, yours looks like it came out great. I took 3 more pics and measured a gen. and a rep. flip clasp. Gen. 0.032" Rep. 0.029" ( this was after metal removal ) { thickness of flip } So the rep. would have been the exact same thickness before any mod. The gen. is the tt bracelet. Also stainless steel used in this application is very strong, even though it appears a tad flimsy. Have just noticed the press tool break line on the edge of the flip. So if you want to go the whole way, gently sand this break line away, and finish with a polish. ( as is on a gen. ) Thanks for the feedback.
