bwhitesox
I need some information regarding swapping over movements in a PAM 029...Will the 2893-2 movement fit into the movement spacer of 2836-2? If not is it a simple mod to make it fit or a deal breaker. The Zigmeister I know you have made this change perhaps you can chime in here and let me know if this will work. After all I'm probably going to send it to you anyway I just don't want to waste a lot of money on the upgrade if it all isn't going to fit. ajoesmith
The movement spacer doesnt fit, i have tried it Also the 2836 GMT hand wont fit either
bwhitesox
I know about the hand not fitting and sorting that one out....Can I ask what you did to fit yours..Did you have to get one machined?
bruce79
There was a topic about this very subject where The Zigmeister posted on earlier. I think it was something to do with the stem not lining up to the movement. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
HauteHippie
Stem alignment is the primary issue here. There may soon be a Rolex case solution.... but sorry can't help on the PAM 29.
bwhitesox
People have done the transplant though so there must be some sort of solution to this.
RWG Technical
I have done the swap from a 2836-2 to a 2893-2 a number of times, only on PAM"s though, and wouldn't you know it, I just finished doing this very swap on a PAM 063. No problems encountered at all, nothing... You need a new GMT hand, and of course a new stem, but the rest is identical...and it all fits together just fine. Of all the ones I did in the past, no reports of problems, so I assume they are all running fine. RG
HauteHippie
Ah, good to know PAM 29 cases are compatible as is... Cases like the Jimmy Fu seem to need to be modded to accept a 289X. And I should have been more specific: a solution for fitting 2892s in gen Rolex DJ cases may be coming soon...
bwhitesox
The Zigmeister thankyou very much for that information as that was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks everyone else for the information as well.
ajoesmith
OK i will post the problem i had that The Zigmeister didnt have The movement holder from my 2836-2 GMT movement didnt fit the 2893-2 movement. I was at it for hours with a file and sandpaper! it finally fitted but it definitely didnt just fit and wasnt an easy swap. Maybe the factories have changed the size of the movement holders these days? who knows
stilty
The movement holder from my 2836-2 GMT movement didnt fit the 2893-2 movement. The 2893-2, which is based on the 2892-A2 is 0.20mm larger in diameter than the 2836-2.
bwhitesox
Stop it...I was feeling confident before about this swap. I think I will wait until The Zigmeister has an appointment free and let him take care of this one as I'm no expert.
