rek001
Well, I was looking at my collection last night and I decided I have too many SS black dialed sport watches, it looks a bit gloomy in the watch box these days. So I've decided my next acquisition would be a white dialed rep, in stainless steel. Something that would look good against a lightly tanned arm. My choices so far: #1 Chopard Mille Miglia GMT chrono, white dial/black subdials #2 Montblanc "smart" Sports chrono, white dial/black subdials Which one do you prefer? Any other suggestions? Please help me pick my next watch.
Sir-Lancelot
I like the Breitling Steelfish SO on a lightly tanned leather strap.
b16a2
Out of the two I would go for the Chopard, however, if you were only to have one white dialled watch in your collection, it should be the SOSF
jkerouac
I'm wearing the white dial/black subdial Chopard as I type this. It is my current favorite watch. The one negative is the rather poor AR. Good AR would allow one to appreciate the stunning dial even more. I tried to get the crystal ARed in one of Chieftang's AR runs, but found out that this watch has a type of sandwich crystal that requires rather special treatment, so I decided to pass. It's a beautiful watch and dial either way, but I was very disappointed at this obstacle. Another really good white dial option to consider is the VC Overseas. The textured dial is fantastic. A great sporty dress watch.
FxrAndy
Steelfish all the way and my wife concures yes they are big and heavy but look fantastic, ask any one at the EU GTG who saw my wife with hers!
rek001
SFSO? Hmm, hadn't considered it. Definitely a possibility...thanks for the suggestion. @jkerouac Thank you fro your reply. I've been studying pics of the Chopard on bracelet, I've noticed a fairly big gap between the fixed endlinks and the first flexible links on the bracelet, on my slim 6.5" wrist this would be very noticeable....have you noticed this, does it bother you? rek001
OK, I just figured out what bothers me about the SFSO - the bezel. It looks unfinished, as if the factory forgot to fill in the bezel numbers and markers with black. Go ahead, call me crazy. So right now I'm heavily leaning towards the Chopard GMT on rubber strap if the bracelet link gap is as bad as I think it is. I just finished reading Sql_pl's excellent old review of this watch, gave me a very good impression.

I also have a fairly slim wrist, ab. 6.75" I believe. I love the bracelet. The use of a fixed endlink actually makes the watch-bracelet transition much smoother and tighter than on many of the bracelet watches that I own. Oftentimes when people with slimmer wrists wear a large watch with a bracelet, the bracelet can point almost straight down even including the endlink. This problem does not apply to the Chopard. rek001
@jkerouac OK, you've helped me make up my mind, thank you for your thoughtful responses. I think the Chopard is a very beautiful and uncommon watch, very under-rated. Now to choose a dealer. How exciting, I haven't bought a higher end rep in about 7 months. I'll post pics when I get it. ajoesmith
Forget the SFSO, i know people love it but i had 3 in different colours, blue, black and white and sold them all. Id get a Chopard asian movement XL for around $75! from Silix, great bang for the buck and very accurate.

rek001
Wow, thanks for the additional suggestions! @carlsbad & Tee Jay Hmm, hadn't thought of a white dial Pam, would look great on a tan strap...I'll seriously consider it. @Homer That's a beautiful watch, but a bit too shiny for me. Thanks for the suggestion though. @ajoesmith & Stephane I think the XL looks better in black dial, you can see more detail such as the distinctive 12 & 6. The white dial looks too washed out. Thanks a lot you two, now I'm considering this watch also, LOL.

Stephane
@ajoesmith & Stephane I think the XL looks better in black dial, you can see more detail such as the distinctive 12 & 6. The white dial looks too washed out. Thanks a lot you two, now I'm considering this watch also, LOL. Well, you are more than welcome Why not have a break before you decide?
