ETA 6497 Dial installation

Hi,

Finally finished assembling my eta 6497 with H3 and everything look to work well (I stripped the movement completely, cleaned then reassembled)

Today, I received parts from Davidsen to complete the watch (Dial, hands, case, crystal etc..)

So, the first thing I tried to do today was to install the dial.

I place the hour wheel correctly (from H3 kit), then align the dial feets with the holes. Here is my problem. How do I secure the dial in place ? There is 2 screws there that can rotate infinitely.. The tutorial I was fallowing (TZ) explain with ETA claps, not screws..

Also, there is a gap between the dial and movement. If I press a bit to remove that space, the movement refuse to work anymore. Removing the dial and the movement start again  I guess there is too much pressure on the minutes and hour hands ? How much space is supposed to have there ?

Quite frustrating, after dissembling and reassembling the movement, my first real problem is about a stupid thing like that :p

Thanks for help

1. Check that the cannon pin is seated down completely, it could be up a little bit and causing your problem.

2. The screws you see are missing one part, the screw has a piece cut out from it, you line the missing piece up with the hole, then you insert the dial, and with your loupe you look at the screws and turn them 180 degrees, this locks the dial in place.

Thanks Rob..

I think I have found the problem. One of the feet look striped, so even if I screw correctly, it won't lock..

It was probably done by my stupidity..

What are the fix for that? can I use a bit of glue or I have to get a new dial because of that (argg)

Thanks

Ok, I think I have found the problem.

I disassembled the movement completely, cleaned and assembled it again. Everything works, but as soon as I put the dial, the movement start to slow or completely stop.

I looked as close as I could with my 10x loupe, and from what I can see, the 4th wheel (second hand) is touching the dial. Relooked at the 4th wheel to be sure it wasn't bent or something, but no. The wheel and shaft are perfect.

The Dial is a H type from Davidson, and looks like the hole isn't at the good spot.
